You know what is funny is that the cloud existed back in the 70's and 80's...it was called managed services. You didn't own the data center and hardware. You might own some of the software. You paid for time on their equipment. If you were a large enough account or had your deal structured a certain way you had your own…

Getting your kids to understand that is challenging. One day they will get it..

What is your forecast time period for this ? Does it account for time required to "keep the lights on" as well as new requests to bolster existing monitoring (new servers, new apps, etc.) in addition to the migration efforts ? This is one of the big things most companies don't factor in and then gripe about why is it…

That would be a requirement....especially if the other teams have monitors and alerts you have built for them. I had set up a series of separate bi-weekly meeting with various teams just for that sort of exchange of information. What are their pain points, what can we do to help, what is changing or heading out way,…

Well put rschroeder

Very good...but you totally dropped the backup of current configs and providing/testing a method (automated or not) for backing out changes if there was a problem. Then there is a need for validation testing (can be automated and should be for daily validation of the environment).

Maybe not within the first 100 days, but certainly within the first 6 months for things like your Dr recovery plan and database restores from tape, yo need to document the procedure from your customers perspective so that they know when they request a restore over X days back it has to come from offsite and takes x days to…

One day I hope to have my hands on this to try out....
