This topic is about something that is not just a science but an art as well....

We are looking at doing something like that for company owned assets. Thus if you have the token or certificate you get access to the intranet (wired or wireless) and if you don't then you get the guest network (wired or wireless). It helps simplify things (scalability) and provides a good initial layer of protection.

now it works... Thanks Danielle !

I have worked places where if it wasn't in "The Quadrant" then it could never be considered...at least without going way up the food chain to even evaluate anything else. I suspect Gartner markets to the C-Level so that people don't have to go out and evaluate products, "they are paying Gartner to do it for them" is their…

For others the cloud is easy and convenient and since it is "secure" they feel they must be as well. So that is the "easy button" for them. Being diligent abut security is not easy and most people don't understand it. But they get the warm fuzzy of the easy cloud solution and become complacent. this opening them up to…

maria DB is most certainly a thing... It is a port of MySql that is supposed to be a drop in replacement for MySql and allows for a more robust server and cluster environment.

time to break out the pool floats cause we're gonna watch "Jaws".

Yep..Tandem was pretty good about that.

I would tend to agree with most of the analysis. We do spend most of ours in the hardware software side. A good chunk for virtualization as well as other software needs.

It is fun...NOT...monitoring multiple instances (3 - 8) of the same log file (multi-tenant system) for 12 specific message strings across 4 - 8 servers. This ends up being a huge overhead.

too add to this mix it is Friday the 13th with a full moon 9/13/19. A very rare occurrence. Next Friday the 13th with a full moon is 30 years away. 08/13/2049 Using the 4 digit year there are 29 palindrome dates in this century. The last of which is unique as it is a leap day 29 February 2092 (29-02-2092). Palindrome weeks…

The challenge with using live demo's for the mission questions is that things can change over time making the "correct" answer truly no longer correct. Unfortunately, this has been seen before. The values that @"johnl" posted do not match what I saw this morning. Thus in that interim labvcenter01 and nocswoape01vs had a…

Congrats rwwhipple !

For me, hybrid environments need to make sense. But there are some questions that take serious thought before you go there. Email, especially where you have a number of offsite branches, locations, etc., has a possibility of being a good candidate provided security is in place. Thanks for the posting !

Question I have regarding MS and the Broadband... If they are talking VHF realm then speeds will be low. If in the UHF realm you will likely not get wifi level speeds as the higher the frequency the higher the bandwidth available. Hence faster speeds on 5.7/5.8GHz vs, 2.4GHz. Old fixed wireless broadband was in the 900MHz…

Agreed rschroeder, many companies don't think of it as what it is...it is a tool in the tool box. Improper application of a tool can either damage the tool or damage the object the tool is being used and not to mention objects/items nearby. In this case it could things more insecure by improper application and/or use.…

Part of the challenge is getting people to not think "It can't happen to me" because it can and it is not a matter of if but rather when.

Hope you're taking that Nikon....pictures or it didn't happen !!

Having the agent option gives you tools that you may not otherwise have. I'd rather have the option available to use than not have it. I know here I would use it without hesitation.

There are so many things out there that use the same key or subset of X number of keys. Insecurity at its finest.
