Good Morning Thwacksters ! Monday bump !
-
It's now only 07:30..but I usually make it into the office about 06:30. Less traffic to deal with here in the metromess.
-
This applies to the private sector as well.

AtomBombing....windows is inherently vulnerable....time to move onto something else. Will have to look at the hotforsecurity website later....can't get it to resolve here at the office. It is amazing the backdoors they have to remote into your device these days...similar to what you can do with dameware. Yes it "usually"…

Very good article glenkemp ! I haven't delved much into DPI but I will try and make the time to do so in the future. I would like to see more from you in the future as well.
-
it depends on what is transmitted when the chip is interrogated....hopefully it is just a hash and a number that means nothing to most everybody.
-
Voted up..but please look at http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/2655 as it takes the concept a step further..

It was likely 60's-70's era. We later sold it in favor of a slightly more modern version with power steering and an automatic so the young'ns could possibly drive it. Then we got the 5 ton to go with it. Nothing like a 1000 and 2000 gallon off road capable tender with wildland firefighting capabilities.

I know in Texas you have to take the MSF safe rider course to get your endorsement these dats...with your successful completion you only have to take the written part to get your motorcycle endorsement on your license unlike the old days where you had to coordinate with another driver to follow behind for the trooper to…

Looking forward to the ebook and your session during Thwackcamp !

Well put... The concept of a boot storm is new to me as I hadn't had to deal with non-persistent desktops although I have considered that for home use with the daughters and internet usage. On a lighter note while a boot storm could hurt, a stiletto storm could put an eye out.

First one is free...
-
Need to see if I can find it in a redbox...oh wait, then I need to have time to watch it....maybe I'll have a I'm at home sick and need to watch a movie day.
-
Actually I repurposed from a repository found on the internet...
-
I suspect there may be a problem with the answer for todays question....unless of course I totally read everything wrong.

sledgehammers are nice...but I prefer a wood maul. You get the benefits of a sledgehammer and a splitting edge kind of like an axe. But from a pure utilitarian use, the Halligan will tear some things up.. Paired with an axe you get a serious interior tool set Another tool like a sledge is the pig... All great tools to tear…

Was this the forerunner of Virtualization Manager ?
-
Ah..the early SAM.

Thursday bump...

plans are one thing....but can you do it beyond the theory ? You have to practice them to get the bugs out...yes Murphy will still throw a wrench or even a whole toolbox into the works, but without practice and validation the plan is workable it is nothing but a check in the box. Do you need all the servers up in a DR…

RCA is needed and then solutions to mitigate a future recurrence of the problem with change records to document the solutions as driven by the initial problem incident. But back to the original point, the troubleshooting Radius, yes what was listed pretty much covers the troubleshooting part whose purpose is to find the…
-
Good list... like any good defense it has to be multi layered.
-
Thanks for explaining the differences.
-
"wait for it....."
-
Ah...knowing what is normal is key to knowing what is abnormal not to mention perspective (point of view) based on knowledge and experience.
-
While Alert Central may be a viable option for others we cannot install a non-standard image here by policy and it comes as a VM image that we cannot alter to meet company standards thus it will never be installed at our site or even evaluated. Back to the original idea... while if-then_else statements are nice, I'd rather…

This has been done in the private sector for years now. I think if they are just now looking into this at the federal level they are way behind the curve. Phishing email is a good example to start with.
-
We are implementing puppet, and other tools to automate the provisioning process in order to speed up delivery of new servers. One aspect of it is for better consistency server to server and to be able to automagically deploy monitoring tools by business service installed on the server.

that's funny...especially when a lawyer was going to sue a local fod establishment because they ran out of the soup of the day. His letter got posted on social media and he got lots of like minded comments....
