Back to work and back at it bump !

Not only is the manual process painful and time consuming, in a rather dynamic and/or large environment it can be a full time job just to maintain. If I recall, NNM uses the ARP tables to figure out what is in the network and where it exists in relation to other nodes...that should be a simple thing here. It's simple and…

sound's like a good application for morse code...there is no case. Of course if it were in ebcidic, the majority of the byte would be the character and one bit would be the case.

try this link for the release notes: https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/success_center/nta/content/release_notes/NTA_4-6_release_notes.htm it should be a little more intuitive.

Congrats mleon !! I was unable to participate Friday so I missed out.

Tuesday morning where is the coffee morning Bump !

What bsciencefiction.tv said !! It is all a matter of perspective.

That is a common theme I keep bringing up. What is old is now new again via re-branding and marketing. You can put lipstick on a pig, but in the end it is still pig. In other words wrapping it up in a shiny new package and calling it something else doesn't change what it is.

no kidding...other products built that in early on. Heck having the ability to run a small script upon receipt f an event and the being able to programatically determine if the event needs to be alertable by return code and pass data back to populate data for the ticketing system would be nice too...

Even though you start with an initial baseline, things change and you need to reset the baseline from time to time. What is the new norm ? Then you can look at how the norms have changed over time which helps you with scalability over time.

Hmmm...where to hang it ?

Because that will limit the amount of money they can continue to get. If you have to buy another tool of theirs to use their metrics the better for them...then you focus on one vendor...them. We the consumers want consistent standards and interoperability, but the vendors business is to sell software...consistent standards…

Ahhh...you found the stick that is usually hiding in the vicinity of the carrot.

In a past life we had a generally mirrored active-almost active situation to allow for a quick fail over for DR. We utilized offsite tape backup that had it's own challenges. But with the complexity of the environment (clustered aix servers with a oracle RAC cluster replicated to the DR site) offered its own opportunities.…

I likely could not tell the difference between the late 60's Dr. pepper vs, the 70's or 80's, They could in fact be pretty much the same. You used to be able to get a "throwback" Dr. Pepper made with cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. While not the old Dr. Pepper, it was pretty good stuff and your blood…

These weekly posting by sqlrockstar great jumping points for many things including things you never knew you needed to jump off to find out about.

Again a good list of topics. Microsoft upgrade hijink needs to cost them a big chunk of money. That is totally not cool. Not sure about the Apple patent. I see abuse of the technology. The newer javascript based ransomware is not a welcome thing to hear about....I'd rather hear about it here.

#2 bu-in and participation need to happen at lower levels as well...getting their input and participation in the build-out. Then they start to have a vested interest in the end product.

Great !

I suspect that your company subscribes to a list of domains to block for whatever criteria is designated by your company. I see that a lot with McAffee. Some of the blocking criteria is generic and quite broad in scope. It took a while for me to get a vendors support site white listed a while back since it was flagged as…

sed and awk, two very under utilized and overlooked tools. Key tools in any experienced unix admins tool box.
