I mean the top row of the report, where the checks are listed, stays at the top. If you have say, many pages in your report because you have a lot of devices, as you read down the report, it's hard to follow because the label for the column is 3 pages ago. I hope that makes sense. I am not explaining very well.

Less robust option, but if I could upload a repository of snippets (basically text files) into a template or basic script, then I could execute them from the web and possibly get a log of notes for the changes. I don't think NCM will do this now.

So I looked at this and it seems really kludgy. The optimizer is cool, but managing ACLs with it just seems cumbersome. it doesn't feel integrated or like it has a good work flow. It's definitely firewall-focused as well and that is something we just dont' need at the moment. Maybe after you guys SWize it will be better.

I have updated and am using. Is there any way to leave a comment when you upload a script as to why you are making the change? I see the comments in the script itself, but when uploading/executing to a device, have not yet found a place to comment on the changes.

It's not the config change report in NCM. It's the NPM reporting. Reports on disk drives, etc. it's 2 megs even when it's empty.
-
Actually, I don't think the comments are searched. It's just the name. The comments need to be searchable, too.
-
If the report could print in out in Excel and you could freeze the top row, that work would. or you could just repeat the top header on each successive page.

This FR has almost 300 votes and it's not being worked on yet?
-
I would add to this feature request that I wish there were a way to see the correlation between message severity and the colors Orion has chosen to code each severity. Maybe others just have this memorized?
-
I like this. I am about to try to have my techs do changes via the website and this would help them a ton to be able to see what they need before they enter the commands or use the template.
-
I would dearly love to see this. right now we're usign snippets for acls and you can't create a historical log of who did what.
-
You have my attention with this. 1) what’s the cost? 2) can I try it out without totally messing up my snippets and current NCM? Thanks!
-
I would also like to see NCM be able to write to the Event logs with a description that you could input each up you pushed out a snippet. that would help track business reasons for changes.
-
Alas, no spaces in mine.
-
You've got it exactly Craig. We have an exception and rules/practices/process for our global service account but yeah, a second individual account with a static PW that people could use to login-I don't want to open that can of worms.
-
:-( I wish mine worked. I would think I have been making typos, except that I have tried 1000 times. Yes, I can change the password manually. Is it possible the macros somehow aren't working or aren't set up correctly in my software? I entered a ticket for this, but they just said "we can't help you write a script" and…

Ok I have this same problem and I have found the canned templates to use in device properties, but how are you guys making or getting this custom device template? I think I found it here: D:\Program Files (x86)\Solarwinds\Orion\NCM\DeviceTypes Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance-1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.669.ConfigMgmt-Commands
-
Thanks. I confirmed my 5508 is working, but not the 5520. I opened up a ticket with SW and we'll see where it goes.
-
Maybe I am misunderstanding how the security is set up. NCM has changed some since I started using it. I looked over my scripts and reports, and those all use credentials we use to access Solarwinds, which are all AD credentials. The device login credentials, which are now set to global, are a service account. If I change…
-
Ok I got it to work. I am also considering a sho run all instead of the more system: running. We'll see how it goes Thanks!
-
The credentials were fine. Here are the results of the script above: 5/12/2008 3:36:59 PM : Started Change enable password on CatOS switches : Job-309413 Execute Command Script on Devices 1 devices selected Command Script -------------- ${EnterConfigMode} set enablepass oldpassword newpassword newpassword exit write memory…

Is there a way to make auditing events pick up NCM changes? I am trying to do this, but it's not getting the fields I want. There is an NCM report that I have, but I am not able to narrow down the changes to specific users and would love to do so. And now it's NCM 7.4 so it's mostly migrated to main Orion.
-
I've got NTA 4.2.1 and a 5520 controller configured for netflow. Solarwinds says it's getting zilch though. Should this be working?
-
No, this is a user that has credentials in Solarwinds and is used to access network elements. I think it could just be that NCM account credentials, Windows credentials, and SNMP credentials are all stored in the same database. It's just odd that there are about 10 entries for a single user.
-
I did. I will try making new ones. Thanks for the tip!
-
You are correct-I do use global. I haven't been able to use individual because then I can't run automated scripts and reports and we have a lot of these. Unless I'm missing something? We do have the approval system in place for certain users and that works fairly well.
-
Ok I just rechecked the User Activity Tracking Report and while there is a user name field there, it won't let me choose any name parameters for it.If there is a trick to this, please tell me.
-
I will check again but I already have this report running and that is exactly what I can't get it to do--narrow down to a specific user.
-
Any chance you know if there is a SQL command I can use to sort results on a parameter, like location?
-
Well this was a cool thing to check out but didn't fix my issue. But glad to see this view. I hadn't looked at it before. Solarwinds knows my 56128s are Cisco's but as far as identifying the model or OS, it can't so when I do filtering, I have to do workarounds on something other than the model. It's not the end of the…
