Your portal may not be updated. It is a hotfix for IP SLA and not NPM. Go ahead and open a support ticket and reference this thread.

There are actually a couple of support techs in the process of troubleshooting. Looks like there are multiple polling engines involved and APM is currently not configured to load balance, so any changes made to the polling engine this node is assigned to are not going to work. The ideal situation when multiple polling…

You should not need a separate license for IP SLA manager when installing on an additional poller. Use the same installer you used on your primary Orion NPM server. It will not ask you for licensing information when installed on an additional server.

Hello Ross, Can you confirm that all your polling engines are indeed upgraded to 3.5.1? This was a reported bug that was in a previous version that has been resolved. If all your polling engines are upgraded, then open a support ticket for us and reference this thread for us to reopen FB3830 investigation. Thanks, Jason

Thank you for the additional information! This was an issue I came across earlier today and remembered this thread. I do not know if it is specifically mentioned in the admin guide so I passed the request on to the team that writes the docs.

There are an infinite number of programs you can have the trigger action "execute a program" use. However the default action for APMServiceControl.exe is to issue the restart.

A late update but here is what happened. By accident the APM 4.0 poller was installed on additional pollers in this environment. The primary poller was still on 3.5. The security certificate is not compatible between versions. After upgrading all pollers to the same version the dust settled. We apologize for the…

Are you still on v2.1? If so I highly recommend that you upgrade as that is a few years old. The current version of IP SLA manager has made improvements to database maintenance.
-
Easy, 5 months ago when you posted here you reported you were using APM 3.1 which was an old version of the software. It’s also posted in a thread over 2 years old and many things have changed since then. If you are still receiving a "Category does not exist." Error message I recommend that you open a support ticket so we…

It may be best to open a support ticket. http://www.solarwinds.com/support/ticket/

The Main Orion server would be the primary NPM server. Many of our customers have multiple polling engines so the 'main' would be the primary polling eng. There is no IPSLA manager service. It's the Orion module engine service. This is also an old thread and we have had updates to IP SLA manager since then. Make sure you…

By chance, do you have more than one polling engine? If so, were these nodes possibly assigned to one of the other polling engines rather than the primary? You can have this problem if those nodes were assigned to a poller other than the primary. When the nodes were removed and re-added, they were probably assigned to the…

Ya seems right. And you are correct, depending on the OS you have different option in the windows task scheduler. You can create a scheduled task to restart the SNMP service. Then just have APM monitor the service as you would normally. If the service does not come back up then APM would alert you as it normally would.…
-
yep, you'll want to open a support ticket then. What you describe is exactly what we would see when performing the test action. We will need to look at logs to see why that would have triggered.
-
You’ll need to edit the IP SLA views for your account. On the web page, go to settings then account manager. Select your account and edit. Scroll to the bottom and look for the + for IP SLA. Once expanded you’ll see different views for each operation, set them to default. It sounds like they are set to VoIP right now. If…

That is a good example. Kind of like 2 devices sending a ping to each other. Router A may be able to ping router B, but B can't ping A. Having operations on each router would detect something like that.
-
I highly recommend you upgrade to current software first. The software you are using is close to 2 years old and is not an issue that is currently reported to us by our customers. Next would be to find what the status message is when the component goes down. Without knowing what the status is we don’t know why the…

You can edit nodes by clicking on the remove nodes from IP SLA. However it doesn't look like you can modify the CLI creds like I thought. They are stored in multiple tables in the database and can be modified manually. You'll need to open a suppor ticket and we can assist with that. We've also added a feature request to be…

Hello, Tha admin guide has great walk throughs. Have you tried these: http://www.solarwinds.com/NetPerfMon/SolarWinds/images/ApplicationPerformanceMonitorAdministratorGuide.06.108.1.png http://www.solarwinds.com/NetPerfMon/SolarWinds/OrionAPMAGCreatingNewTemplates.htm…

-c=START is actually the default action if none is specified. It shouldn't have to be added, but won't hurt either. Probably the first thing we will do is take a look at the log file to see what is going on. We can investigate via the support ticket and report our findings to thwack.
-
For a performance counter monitor we would focus on the permissions of the windows account used to poll the data rather than the rights needed in the database. We are going to be polling windows and asking the OS for the statistic. Just like if you were to go into your "performance monitor" in windows. You'll want to go to…
-
I'm a bit dizzy myself. Just to be clear, do you want APM to monitor a process or a service? What do you mean by "a specific SNMP process"? Is this related to the SNMP service? APM can monitor either the process or a service. APM would not normally go out and restart a service "just because". It does not have the ability…

Then it seems we do not understand what you are asking so I recommend you open a support ticket. http://www.solarwinds.com/support/ticket/

Is this an actual alert that fired, or a test that you ran?
-
what browser are you using? If it is an unsupported browser we will default to mobile view. For example firefox beta: http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/2319/Accessing+NPM+with+Firefox+4+beta+11+gives+the+mobile+version+of+the+website

for 2k8 C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Orion for 2k3 C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds\Orion It is called APMServiceControl.log

I'm not sure I 100% understand your question. IP SLA manager will write to the running config. That is how the operation will then start performing its polling. It will not write to the start up config. NCM should also show when any config changes are made to the running config. With NCM if you are always downloading the…

What is the problem you are having when these try go create the operations? What is the error message/problem?
-
NP. Most of the time I see customers create operations on each side to be thorough. It also depends on the operation type and your needs/preferences.
