This isn't about the same issue, but I'm curious should I see for example some temperature or fan graphs from switches? I see temperature with universal poller, but in new NPM version there is new sheets like "vital stats", "network" etc in device page. In network page there is power supply, temperature and fan sheets but…

I still get this messages once in a couple weeks: You have not enabled NetFlow data export on 192.168.100.1 device. For more information, see "Enabling NetFlow and NetFlow Data Export (NDE) on Cisco Catalyst Switches" in the Support - Product Documentation area of www.solarwinds.com. That IP is VLAN1 IP so it should be ok,…

Thanks, that was easy when you know what to do. I totally missed a chance to configure also the source interface for netflow. Quite obvious option thinking it afterwards, but didn't come to my mind then. Thanks!

Yes, I have admin rights. btw, I didn't find any kind of "manage groups"-restriction from account settings. So I don't even know where it should be enabled... Would be nice if adminitration manuals had more pictures and screenshots in pages, not just pale text. Now manuals are quite "insipid", and sometimes it's hard to…

That didn't solve the problem at least in 2504 controller. My 5508 backups are transfering nicely with just username, password and "no enalble login" setting. So systems seems to find correct command formats nowadays (before I had a command script that did the work for me). But that same setting doesn't work with 2504…

The problem still exist! As I told, it was fresh installation and there is no any other applications installed in this computer. This computer is build just for engineer's toolset use. (Finnish version of Windows 7 Enterprise). The computer is normal 8000-series SFF case HP desktop workstation, so it cannot be performance…

I don't have this "add new group"-button at all. I have admin rights but no... Maybe it has disappeared in some of those updates... I don't know. A bug? I know it should be in there, because I have created groups and subgroups before.

This is not necessary for me anymore, because I uninstalled APM few days ago. It was the "gift" version from couple of years ago, and support was expired. So I couldn't update APM. NPM 10.5 needed newer version of APM, so it was easier to remove APM. There was not real use for APM, we just installed it because it was free…

I think controlled AP's don't have configs (or neither OS) in flash. The idea is that they get all configs (and OS versions) in boot. That's why they are controlled by controller. If they would have "their own intelligence", then they wouldn't need controllers.

When I try to edit job so that it would backup both running and startup configs, it says Select one config file type only to generate config change notifications. So does that mean that I have to choose whether to see config change reports OR running/startup comparison? Sounds stupid... Here's how my settings look like…
-
Job is working fine and access to devices is ok and they are monitored by SNMP. All backups are successful always, maybe that tells everything necessary. Saving path... I have no idea where they are. System is built as Solarwinds told, so there are separate Orion server, Flow storage server and SQL server (they were in…

No, just running configs (no idea to collect startups as running defines how network works). Does that effect to this issue? Should I add startup configs to backup?

Getting back to this old case. I still see everything as gray. Nobody told how system is comparing these states to each other. I'm getting devices backed up every night, no problem with that, and I'm even getting change reports from them. But I'm not getting data for this graph, and obvously not getting reports if running…

No, all I see from there is two ports of those switches that I have added later to system. As told, other switches show their all ports no matter if they are monitored by NPM or not. But for some switches I see only those ports available that are already monitored by NPM. And secondly, I don't see any way to choose ports,…

Ok, maybe I'll try to re-install tftp server. Is it the same version that is available in website, as version installed with Orion NCM? So you have no idea why some switches backup works and some not? We have HP Z600 Workstation, 2008 Server 64bit and 2005 SQL standard in use. (we use 2 SSD HD's in raid-1)

That clears a lot. Thanks! But I still don't understand why this option is there, and why it cannot be replaced by "more basic" setting... This really could be an option, not default setting. Charts look more complex now. Maybe too complex! I can't know with quick look how much is received and how much transmitted, because…

What is that 400MB limit? If I have for example 12GB RAM, then why should I limit that to so low? I think Orion won't ever use the rest of the memory on that kind of device assembly. Now I have 6GB of memory, and I've limited sql to use max 1,5GB and it seems to be ok (memory consumption actually goes higher than that, but…

if it fails to poll something from a node for some reason then it decides that the node no-longer supports that functionality. For example if the retrieval of the L3 tables fails for some reason it will stop fetching L3 data and not report this anywhere (other than buried in a logfile, or a check-box on the edit-node…

At start it was default 30min but after that i've tried the other values. New information of my problem: Now devices have shown in port list for couple of days. I just don't know why! There is nothing in switch configurations that could affect to this. I made re-discovery in wednesday morning, and devices disappeared from…

We don't have any device in that address in network. That 192xxx IP was our netfow switch before, but that address was changed something like a year ago. So no ping answer. And there is nobody who could install some device in that same address afterwards, and it's even more impossible that someone could have configured…

I'm not familiar with SQL at all, but it seems to be doable. I just don't know the sql field names. Where I could find them? There must be fex. "time"-column somewhere. I'm looking to get something that would look like this: TIME CLIENT NAME AP RSSI 27.10.2011 15.30.00 MobilePC1 AP33 -64 27.10.2011 15.30.10 MobilePC1 AP33…

That works, thanks! I didn't realize that there was other types of properties for triggers than default "node". I totally missed that drop down menu. That's why I didn't find suitable conditions, for example this "poller name" thing. But now it works, great!

What these two files do? tempdb.mdf and NetPerfMon_log.LDF I shrinked NetPerfMon_log.LDF from 9GB to 2GB and now I am interested what information I am losing now? I assume it was 9GB because of some good reason, not just for fun. But it was grown to that 9GB size during 24 hours after have been much smaller for months. I…

I found another device data from under that mib db. And that mib is not pointed to any other devices. Those values were the lower ones, so I think chart took wrong values from db. I don't know why and why it started just now. There was really old values so it has been like that for years. But, I did something when I was…
-
No, the poller of this graph is still the same (celcius I think). And MIBs are showing the correct value, graph itself shows wrong.

I'm not familiar with databases. I do have access to that, but i'm not sure how smart it is to browse it without knowing what to do...

I have this "cache timeout active 1"-command included (actually our Cat6500 supervisor is new model, it uses new netflow protocol which contains little different style of configurate netflow...) But anyway... command is there, but I still get netflow graphs in 1 hour interval. How can I make interval more frequent in ORION…

That works in map navigating, yes. But now I only see child map when I click it on main map, but I cannot see other group level data (availability, events etc) that I normally see on group view. Any way to show different maps in different groups?

In what form should regex's be written in TCL? What language it is after all? I'm just a little bit familiar with JS and C#... I've never used TCL, I didn't even understood such a thing exist in swithces! So I'm really rookie in scripting. Is it a big risk to break everything by doing something wrong? I think this regex…

I guess there is no way to save old data if the interface is deleted. For example if I want to follow network traffic trends from last 5 years, and device chances and interface connected to network I want to monitor changes too, than all data is lost I guess? I found a way to save data: - Change old device IP (it doesn't…
