Powershell Wong answer for March 8th?
-
The Critical thing for me is how we report, Display and alert the findings
-
Looking forward to the native log file monitoring! can't get to grips with the clunky perl and powershell templates

MMMM... Will wait and see

What is the temporary workaround?

I would try adding the node again (without removing it) by IP address. Solarwinds will come up with this Press the Re-Add --- Just in-case there is a rogue entry somewhere ... It should pick up the applications so no need to re-add/apply those, just next>next it all. let me know if that helps ... otherwise I am exhausted…
-
When you say you added , did you remove it and re-add it, or try adding the device again and get solarwinds to re-add the server?
-
and what happens from the test SNMP when you edit values
-
So .. does the server respond to a Ping from the poller?
-
I guess my next ap[proaches are mor to do with Windows Firewall or other firewall issues. How are you connecting to the node SNMP or WMI

Edit/Create Application using "Windows Powershell Monitor" component Rename the component name to something more meaningful (Time-Wait Count) Set the Credential for Monitoring (ideally an AD account that will work on the target machine) Set Execution Mode to Remote Hit the edit script and make sure that you set the…

Sadly Just tested on a new one in my install and got this: working ok? So it must be elsewhere: I turned on Debug logging and the working version did this output 2018-02-05 14:58:19,666 [STP SmartThreadPool Thread #3] [C-1] DEBUG SolarWinds.APM.Logging.ApmJobContextInfo - Reseting thread log data 2018-02-05 14:58:19,588…

What appears in the APM debug log ...... It may be that the SW account that is submitting this either does not have the set execution policy set?
-
I suspect the node is the issue. If you have already re-added it then doing that again will not help. If other nodes are working then the underlying processes must be. Is it possible the server has dropped out of Active Domain?

Thanks for Your Help... I will raise a feature request

Hi There, On the Powershell Application Component, there is an option to run remote (you will have to have winrm set up to accept the traffic and port 5958, and retsrt the winrm service after) The statistic returned in the previous post should just record as part of the application. This can then be reported upon, or…

It appears int the table NodeNotes. I cannot see where we would delete them , or how log they are retained. I have deleted the entries from the table after test. This query works for me in reports and on our Summary page. Select A.NodeID,A.Caption,B.Note,B.AccountID,B.TimeStamp FROM [SolarWindsOrion].[dbo].[Nodes] A ,…

Does the performance counter for that exist for this database? It may be a corruption thing. Possibly try and rebuild the performance counters?

Is there any way of telling the template which SQL authenticated credential to use as a backup?
-
I am in the same position worth this. It appears to ignore the setting. # I have gone to the master template and adjusted the thresholds in the master, which it picks up, but the bottom 4 elements in the template seem to have no affect whatsoever, so unsure as to why they are there. this is where I adjust them in the…

Thanks, Silly me,
-
I would suggest you copy a template that already has Powershell component. Delete all of the pre-defined outputs (normally only 1 on a template) Then Edit Script, Paste in your code assign credential (instead of the ones in the script - create in Credentials Library in SW) I think that may help
-
Can you add any other application and get it to work, or do all new additions get you an "Unknown " state. Can you turn the logging on and post the Application log?
-
Craig, yeah ... trying to get any spend is difficult, so I will go down that route. I have asked for reserved IP in DHCP and this should help I think. Thanks for your help in this, hopefully it will go away now. Ian

Thanks for this ... Reverse DNS Lookup is not set.. Just checked , but thanks for the help
-
The issue is that I get a chart selection saying nothing to select. so cannot add anything.
-
Hi Rob, I have run the query aginst my component and I get Running against this component: http://[our Poller]/Orion/APM/Admin/Edit/EditApplication.aspx?id=141&selected=569 with these settings for thresholds on “Edit Application” Hope this all makes sense, and thanks for looking.
