you can drill down to the Alert and Configure it to exclude the thin provisioned disks by changing the search scope vm.vol.freeSpace:[21474836480 TO *] AND vm.vdisk.thinProvisioned:"false"

Correct. Only 64 bit installs can use the Flow Storage DB. This DB is purely for the flow records. There will still be some info like the application mapping, IP groups that will be stored in the MS SQL database,i.e., 64 bit NTA installs will use both FSDB and MS SQL with the majority of the data being in the FSDB. NTA…

The / in the command output is in conflict with the virtualprompt in your config template. Can you set the command prompt to something else?

dowshirley, 1. By default the filter is disabled. Did you click on the filter name, and use the Gear icon on top to Enable the filter? 2. The filter definition (if you double click on the filter name) is based on a specific connector profile more about connector profiles here SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: How to create…

Yes for network devices like switches, routers, etc http://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/NetPerfMon/NodeDetails.aspx?NetObject=N:251 for physical servers (most Dell, IBM, HP servers and vSphere hosts), you will need SAM http://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/NetPerfMon/NodeDetails.aspx?NetObject=N:574

The pop-up is masking the text of the configuration window. Does it say the network path is not accessible to NTA, and hence it cannot backup? Have you tried specifying a local folder for backup as well?

There is a utility to do that. See AddIps.zip

What error do you see? You should be able to add the Linux machine as an SNMP node (Settings > 'Add Node'). There are also couple of templates that use Script Monitors. Simply search for them from the Settings > SAM Settings > Manage Templates and assign to the Linux node. You will need to provide a credential that can SSH…

NPM training videos have been updated recently and part 11 covers Universal Device Pollers Network Performance Monitor (NPM) Training - YouTube

You will need to leverage the Message field of the Component monitor result to display the data. The template below is a good example https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-171484 I'm assuming you will use the results of the query to 'manually inspect' if the results indicate normal behavior of your applications writing to…

which database platform is it?

This one is not going to be easy from a Windows server. Is the share also shared via NFS? It would be much easier to do it via Linux/Unix server.

Usually, the browser on server class OS has enhanced security turned on with Javascript / Cookies turned off. Try installing another browser like Chrome

Since this has come up many times on thwack, curiosity got the better of me and here is a little primer on building this Advanced SQL report Caveats: This works for custom node pollers which have been defined to retain only the latest polling results and not the history For the purpose of this example, I have 3 node custom…

it doesn't sound like expected behavior. which version of NPM?
-
which one is it specifically? Have you tried searching for it in thwack content exchange? Does the "sensor" allow you to query the environmental status via SNMP? If so, you can set up a custom poller using the universal device poller utility on the NPM server.
-
It's either account limitations or view limitations. Edit the account to see what's the criteria for your account. If that is not a suspect, drill down to a node details for a node that does work, click on customize page and see if you have any view limitations that may restrict the icmp nodes.

there is an out of the box report for this. Are you not seeing it in your install?
-
These are only available via the VMware API as far as I know, and is not gathered out of the box by NPM. Since its not available via SNMP, NPM's custom pollers cannot be used either. Best bet is Virtualization Manager. It is licensed by sockets and you can limit the polling to just the hosts you need using vmware roles and…

Open IIS Manager, delete the application pool and the website definition. Re-run the configuration wizard to rebuild the website. See if it does it

You can install a free version of ESXi first, and then deploy the virtual appliance. The virtual appliance helps meet a lot of data integrity and audit trail requirements for compliance reasons.

You can also enable file scans for D:\Users admin share at Share Depth 1 (not 0) using the Settings -> Files -> Assign Local Shares link and make sure the Settings for File Age Categories contains 60 (for example 0,30,60,180,365). This way the Access Time reports for Local Shares will automatically list any top level…

It is possible with a bit of a database hack. See my suggestion for volume status in the discussion below. You should be able to set the status icon to Down.gif for a specific Node ID when the status is detected as Up. volume: the alert says it's down, the web console says... nothing

. So, it doesn't work like that. A MIB is like a master set of questions a device would respond to via SNMP,I.e., a master set of OIDs. You need to decide which questions to ask for the information you would like from the device, i.e., which OIDs to poll. NPM's MIB database already contains this 'MIB. It also has the…

You need to match up the driver name and the driver platform (64 bit vs 32 bit) correctly. See detailed instructions and screenshots I posted earlier for MySQL but the same ideas apply to DB2 as well cannot monitor mysql application. got error "Data source name not found and no default driver specified."

have you also setup an NCM web console user with a webuploader role. Did that user submit the change request?
-
You will need to determine the SQL query to extract the latest value of the time left on the battery and wrap that in a ${SQL:} macro. One way to determine the necessary SQL is to use the legacy report writer tool on the NPM server, and use the 'Show SQL' menu option.

1. In the web console, under the Settings section, you will find a link for 'Initial Alerting Setup' where you can specify global defaults. On the SolarWinds server, open the Advanced Alert Manager and look at the email trigger action for the 'alert me when a node is down' and you will find how the email to/from/SMTP…

scottgille, I would start with adding a 'Custom Table' resource to the dashboard view (click on 'Customize Page' in any of the views). this gives you a lot of flexibility to add in attributes such as the one in your screenshot and polling data. You can choose how to group the data and aggregate the data.
