Totally agree with mharvey there. Switch the polling interva to wmi and you don't have to worry about this question.

dirwin1 An agent option has been implemented since which makes it easier to monitor servers in DMZ SAM 6.2 Beta - Because sometimes you feel like a nut - Part 1 If you have a sizeable number of servers in the DMZ, you can place a polling engine in the DMZ instead and monitor in an agentless fashion

mleon1, There are a number of high level views available within the product itself to show the worth to upper management. Have you spoken to anyone in the sales team?

For the circumstances described, there isn't a way to distinguish between actual outage vs a interfering firewall rule. The good news is that it warranted an investigation, and you were able to identify the root cause. Going forward, you could change the way you determine firewall status to be based on SNMP as opposed to…

this is the missing piece that amarnath_r is referring to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784 install both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions

Hmm. Never tried that way. But I do know that Storage manager doesn't use AccountID and password in the direct URL format. That is an Orion format. You probably have the Storage Manager integration module running on your NPM server, which would be passing the Storage Manager credentials behind the scenes. Try loginName in…

correction - missed a 1 in the namespace 6.x is very old firmware. You need to download the LSI Legacy SMI-S Provider from LSI's website. please be sure to change CIM namespace to root/lsissi11 and username to administrator

Windows XP is most definitely not a supported platform for installation of Agents Agent requirements

What you can do is define a GET TABLE poller on the hrSWRunPath OID. That will get the path for all the processes. Don't keep the history for this poller. Define an alert on this custom node table poller for existence of this path. If you don't find the path, then the process is down. Its up otherwise.
-
Go to manage nodes, change the drop down to interfaces. Search and select the interfaces you are after, then click on the 'Edit Properties' and you can set dynamic thresholds for all the selected interfaces.
-
AlertCentral is a virtual appliance. So, cannot be deployed on your SAM server.
-
Not possible. Legacy report writer is still the best bet.
-
Look at the top 5 protocols chart. Is that accurate? It is possible for the top x endpoints chart to exceed the actual bandwidth. I will try to dig up the doc that explains why.

yes

If you have other recordings in your WPM, and you are currently getting emails for the out of the box alert 'alert me when a transaction is down', you will need to modify the trigger condition for it to exclude these two transactions. Otherwise, you will continue to be notified from it which will defeat the purpose of the…

It is currently not possible to unmanage nodes that way. I believe there is an open feature request to 'retire' devices. You may want to vote on it. Unmanage is meant to be used for change management windows.

hi Will, Your rule looks right. Are you seeing ProcessStart LEM Events like below if you run an nDepth query "Event Name" = ProcessStart ? If not - as evileyes07 said, you need to first of all ensure there is an Agent installed on this computer. You will also need to ensure that the Process Tracking is enabled to generate…

Which version of NCM? Did you check the NCM settings > comparison criteria?
-
Those are trap OIDs. Hence, not available for polling
-
cjfranca It doesn't matter if server names are same. Eligibility to install new versions is a function of being under active maintenance. Since the maintenance has expired wakhan will not be able to open a support ticket.

Hardware sensors are part of the ESX firmware. So, no need to install Dell OpenManage agents even if one is available. The most likely issue is the CIM service as Jeremy has pointed out
-
The issue seems to be that CrystalReports runtime doens't get installed although you run ReportsAndCrystal executable. If you were to install just the Crystal Reports Runtime (download from customer portal or request from SolarWinds) before or after running the ReportsAndCrystal executable, the issue gets resolved.
-
Yeah, a support ticket is the best way forward
-
Also, you may want to move this query to the Server & Application Monitor forum

Alex Soul I'm not sure about elegant, but a workaround alright. If you had a Node custom property called NodeTest, you create an Application custom property (say) NodeTestCopy of the same data type. The Node property can have a drop down of values but the Application one need not Create a SQL Trigger using the following…

Create a Group using these 2 Application Monitors. Choose 'Best Case' for computing group status. Use the group level out of the box alerts

You can find instructions with screenshots in the 'Custom Rules' section of this doc (page 30-33) http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/LEM/Docs/LEM_Evaluation_Guide.pdf

What you see in LEM by default is normalized events, not raw syslog messages like Kiwi. Unless the relevant connectors are turned on, there will be no normalization and hence no activity in LEM. Please see the section on Connectors in http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/LEM/Docs/LEM_Evaluation_Guide.pdf
