Why do organizations complain when they don't have ownership and insights? This is the whole deal with the cloud, you don't own it and you have a contract what you can expect, nothing more nothing less. When you have specific requirements you either find a solution provider who can fulfill those or do your stuff "on prem"…

Backup to disk to Tape (RDX for very small clients) is our go to strategy.

I use WPM to check for best deals on stuff I like :-D

All the best to you thegreateebzies thanks for your contributions to the community. Don’t forget about your Thwack Nerds!

You onlyneed to select a valid State when you are in the US. I guess the wording is just not clear enough. Just type any other Country in the World into the Field and you can download the paper.

Here's a Snippet out of a larger script where I create a new WorldMapPoint out of a CSV File that is loaded in the variable "$Location" I have latitude and Longitude there. Maybe you can start from here. I am working on an Update Location part at the moment, once this is finished I will post it here. if(!$MapPointPresent){…

Like always, it comes down to "standardization, standardization, standardization". Today's IT-landscape is too complex for the regular user, maybe even an admin, to see the whole picture. Having a standardization in place limits your flexibility but you can manage your it infrastructure much better. maybe the user is not…

I wonder why this is missing. CPs are a key feature of solarwinds that everyone absolutely WANTS to automate. Must be a "glitch in the Matrix" that this isn't implemented.

Isn't it kind of funny that "banks are looking into/betting that blockchain technology to make their transactions faster and more secure" ... how much did they pay the researcher who found out? I hope no more than 2 BTC or 200 ETH, maybe 50.000 XRP?

thanks for the mentioning adatole I feel honored, that one of my comments was picked as mention-worthy

Same here! The export feature in the web-frontend can not handle the amount of our devices where the scheduled report is able to provide the data but in a very much undesired format. Export to CSV is needed! If possible please implement a "full" report not just a report for each polling engine. Thanks!

did you manage to copy over your nodes. I did exactly what you want to do for 2 of my clients. let me know if you need assistance.

From what I read about Cohesity is, that it’s got an API, so SAM‘s API Pollers seem to be a good choice. if you can work with PowerShell or any other scripts you could utilize SAMs scripting Capabilities. SNMP could be working, however I find it somewhat limited when it comes to monitoring non Network Equipment

Interesting to hear that outside of Germany SAP is not recognized that much. When you mention those 3 letters here, everybody knows what you are referring to. However SAP is also known for their price, and once you have SAP in your environment, there is hardly any chance of ever getting rid of it.

Here we go again! Yaaay

I'd go even further and amend the xyz -monitoring to xyz - management. I personally differentiate between the term montioring as "look but don't touch" and management as "(pro)actively do something". For example the "vmware-sprawl" page in vman where you can actively manage your virtualization infrastructure. if this is…

it's a relatively new certification path. so it might be that the folks who voted already have their "old" SCPs still valid

meh... I thought so. Oh well

I just found out that there are multiple requests for this. It would be nice if everyone who voted here would also vote here: and here: Thanks

How Much of the Internet Is Fake? Turns Out, a Lot of It, Actually. So did you fact check your links if those are true? ...don't trust any news you haven't faked yourself But seriously, it is sometimes really hard to differentiate between "real" information and untrue information. the plain nonsense is easy to spot, but…

If you are interested, I can send you a script that will set world map points based on any input. Currently I am using a CSV that defines a location with an IP Range. If the node is in that IP Range it will be placed according to latitude and longitude information in the CSV file. just send me a PM an I will dig out my…

I also think that log analysis is a must have. The tools are improving constantly and probably no one can afford to not use any form of log analysis.

I agree that this would be nice to have in the Web-GUI. last Time I had to do this, there was the „unmanage-utility“ on the Orion Core Server. It created the script for you and I believe also set up the scheduled task. did you check if this option is still there?

There is open Source software available where a professional company is providing the support and “enterprise features” PostgreSQL and EnterpriseDB would be an example. maybe this will be a business model for open source that we see more often in the future.

Gett'n ready to learn new stuff!

it is quite an old post, but I have created a SAM template: Veritas Enterprise Vault 12 - Services / Tasks / MSMQ Counter Cheers, Holger

...oh noooo I blew out a lot of my points just for the sake of it after the Thwack-Game-Table was removed.. now I need to save for the Headphones again... stupid me...

Glad everyone is in the same boat. Whenever I do consulting, there is only a bit of automation I can implement. Many things are unfortunately a manual process.

without checking the Options in detail, there is an API for Teamviewer https://dl.tvcdn.de/integrate/TeamViewer_API_Documentation.pdf it might be possible to do something with that.
