Jon, You can remove old configs from the DB by selecting Configs > Purge old Configs. This setting allows you to choose whether to purge configs older than a certain date or to only keep a certain number of configs. Additionally, if you want to keep all the configs but not see them in the node list, you can click on File >…

Those feature requests are all great feature requests and have been indicated as official feature requests Thanks for the wonderful requests.

The new SolarWinds LANsurveyor product automatically discovers your network, provides an interactive diagram of your entire network, continuously scans the network for new devices, alerts you when new devices connect to your network, and provides hardware and software inventory data. The following short PDF provides step…

The network test interval, default of 5 minutes, determines how often VoIP Monitor polls the devices for the voice quality statistics. This setting is not part of the IP SLA operation commands.

Peter, Cirrus should have no problems managing the Nortel 460s, 470s, and 5510s. The only requirement is that they have the cli interface enabled. Once the cli interface is enabled, the Nortel Passport 5510 device template should work for all 3 device types. To select the Nortel Baystack 5510 device template for the 460s…

To take advantage of this feature, you will want to close the Map Maker tool, delete the ..\Program Files\SolarWinds\Network Performance Monitor\MapMaker.Toolbars file, and then open the Map Maker tool. You will now have the Edit/Paste Special option which enables you to copy from visio into the Orion Map Maker.

One option is to create a custom property (under File > Settings > Custom Properties) and assign the appropriate value to each device. Then you can reference the custom property within the script. For example, if the custom property where titled NewIP, then within the script, you would reference it as ${NewIP}.

Cirrus has been tested on 5510, bps 2000s, 460s, 470s, 425s, and 380s with the cli mode enabled. I am more than happy to work with you to customize the templates to work with your devices. You should receive an email soon with my contact information.

You are correct. When a configuration changes, your monitoring server should execute the auto downloader and pass the IP of the device that is reporting the change. Note: The passed IP must be the same IP that is entered within Cirrus.

We are unable to duplicate the 1st scenario described above. The tested scenarios on Cirrus 3.5.1 are as follows: 1. Add device to existing Cirrus database. (telnet/telnet or snmp/tftp) 2. Add device to new or default Cirrus Backup job 3. Specify to backup the running config within the Backup job. 4. Do not compare,…

Some of the differences between the Command Scripts and Config Snippets are as follows: * Command Scripts * Saved as text files on your server * Can be scheduled to run for any given time interval * Config Snippets * Saved within the Cirrus Database * Comments can be added to Snippets * Date Created and Date Modified are…

With recent development in Virus Scanning software and Personal Firewalls due to worm attacks, a shim is being inserted into the IP stack by the monitoring software. Simply uninstalling the software does not remove this shim. I recommend uninstalling any Virus Scanning software or Personal Firewalls from the Orion Server.…

Eric, Reboot alerts that refer to an old date are typically related to either a faulty counter on the device or a redundancy setup. To verify if the counter is having issues, simply open the SNMP Graph tool (available in the Engineer's Edition Licensed/Eval), select to monitor RFC1213:SysUptime with No Calculations…

VoIP Monitor will use the IP addresses entered in Orion when configuring the VoIP Call Paths. I recommend double-checking the IP addresses specified in the Orion System Manager. If you need to change the IP addresses within Orion for any VoIP Sites, VoIP Monitor will wait till the IP SLA operations expire (1 hour from last…

To change the transmit and receive bandwidth statements within Orion, simply right-click on the desired interface from within the System Manager, select Interface Details, and modify the Transmit Bandwidth and Receive Bandwidth statements. The % Utilization Charts are based off of these two values.

Thanks for the feedback. Orion VoIP Monitor is primarily targeted at companies that want to monitor their voice network or test whether their network is ready for a voice deployment. Over the next several releases, we will be expanding the functionality to not only include IP SLA monitoring but also Call Data Records…

Jon and bleearg13, I recommend creating a support ticket on this issue at https://forms.netsuite.com/app/site/crm/externalcasepage.nl?compid=638609&formid=12&h=3d0552f20b2e9bd6580b. We have not been able to reproduce this issue in house. It should be easier to duplicate and resolve once we have more information.

Currently, the Orion Wireless module collects AP information from IEEE802dot11-MIB compliant wireless APs. The module also collects detailed client and session data from most Cisco devices, HP switches, Aruba devices, and some Avaya devices. In future releases, we plan to add additional AP device support. The Orion Map…

Grouping is designated at the policy level instead of the rule level. Peter, One method to use for Cirrus to modify the listed name is to slightly adjust the IP Address (i.e. 10.10.1.1 to 10.10.1.2) in the Device Details window, click outside the IP Address field, let Cirrus discover the new device, and then change the IP Address back to the appropriate IP. Cirrus should rediscover the…

Error 5 means that the device is stating that there is no buffer space. I recommend checking to see if the configuration file is larger or if something is occupying more RAM on the device. Also, double-check the amount of free memory on the device.
