We thought about using our ticketing system, but being as NCM/NPM are effectively our CMDB I'm not too keen on having to import the information or keep two databases up to date. If I get time I might well look at taking the same approach as you :-) Regards, John

Mass Effect isn't there? Really?
-
Yup, would definitely like to see this one!
-
Would be great it this could be included in NPM/NCM as well.

I'm not sure about the OP, but we have scheduled at-risk windows whereby we can perform reloads/patches etc. I'd really like a feature where these can be set as a calendar so that availability stats are not affected when systems go down during these windows, but still keep them managed for traffic/backup/alert monitoring…
-
Please god put this one in!!! At the moment creating any valuable MI reports on the network performance/availability takes me a day, an export of the raw report data to CSV would allow me to do it in minutes (and graph the data, which is another thing sadly lacking from the reports on NPM).

Cheers ryoung, points are there now
-
Congrats guys!

As belthasarx stated, it's the change from being reactive to proactive that is the biggest benefit to us: to give a recent example, we had a switch that regularly had a response time of over 200ms. Without NPM alerting us we'd have been none the wiser (as the switch stayed "up" throughout) but the alerts allowed us to…

Hi, Any update on SQL 2012 SP3 compatibility? Our DBA's are asking the question as they are keen to get the SQL environment completely patched. Regards, John
-
Hi Danielle - Afraid my points are missing too Thanks, John
-
Hi - It takes a while (up to 10 mins) to apply in the background: what does the output of the show flash command give you? Regards, John
-
Hi Rahmatullah, I think cvachovecj had already answered in the other thread, but this needs to be run as a config change template; you'll need to go to the Config Change Templates page of NCM and click on Create New Config Change Template then paste in the script; some details on what to do once it's there and an updated…

No problem Beth, I'd be interested to see how you get on
-
Hi, Script should work fine as long as it's not an IOS-XE install; can you tell me what errors you are seeing? Regards, John
-
Many thanks Jiri, to be honest I hadn't thought of uploading it but I will do now
-
Yup, this would be my preferred option as well. If I can do it with switch ports, why not with hardware items?
-
Damn, will be worth upgrading when they've sorted the niggles out though! Hope you find an alternate method in the mean time.
-
Cheers Jiri, serves me right for not exploring 7.2 fully yet :-)
-
Doh, realised it was a really dumb question just before you answered! Cheers for the help

OK, I think what you want to do is sort of possible, having said that I've never tried it. There's an option to change the logon credentials used for managing devices to be a user-level rather than device level: You then set up individual user login accounts to use (as suggested in the highlighted box). I'm guessing there…

Afraid not, must admit I just gave up in frustration and accepted that these configs will always be "dynamic"
-
Vita - Please ignore my previous post, the switches I am polling have both snmpv2c and v23 configure and I think that's confusing matters. I've got some outputs which I'll email you directly. Regards, John

No problem Andy - I've just found this which goes into a bit more detail: https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/176871

Thanks D. To be honest i use a similar approach for Etherchannel links: create a custom interface property, apply to each member interface of an Etherchannel and you instantly know when one link of the channel has gone down (not always obvious if the other member links stay up no problem). Regards, John

OK, you'll need to use the archive download-sw IOS command and make sure you have the relevant *.TAR image file in the \TFTP-Root directory of your Core server (the newer Cisco switches don't really like the old "copy tftp:<IOS filename.bin> flash:" commands - they use a subfolder in the flash: directory these days for the…

Bugger, sorry about that - it was the original fix they gave me back in ver 10.2 when I had a load of spurious hardware alerts on things I didn't even know about.

Hi Tony - "I assume I'd still manually need to go into the settings and change the port from 'unplugged' to normal, so it then detects the port is live again." - No, you don't need to do this. The setting is exactly what you are looking for - the reason I'm so sure about this is that I asked the same question two years ago…

Weird. Can you run a debug ip ssh client on the 6509 and try and connect again?
