  • Now it's clear, to collect information from SW I need to create an account under the Account Manage, to pull information about SW itself I will provision the poller account. Got it :)
  • ;) Thanks HerrDoktor :)
  • @"HerrDoktor" REST is our only option, we are starting with very basic calls for a larger automation effort.
  • @"chad.every" According to the documentation, to use the API, simply create the API username under "Manage API Poller Credentials." However, this is not sufficient; the account must also be created under the "Manage Accounts" section. Without creating the account under "Managed Accounts,” we received a failure.
  • This wasn't a consultant question but a simple problem of why the API was not working with error messages. Any mature organization receiving a ticket from a paid customer should provide an adequate answer; as simple as educational, the API is not covered by support and only on THWACK. Taking the time to read the ticket and…
  • @"t.m-k" Excellent feedback. The funny part is that another engineer took the case and sent me the same URL as the previous engineer without any explanation, after five days of waiting. This is with an escalation request the day before :)
  • Thank you @"wfordham" Good point about reaching out the AM, this might be the best to eliminate frustrations. Thank you for sharing your experience.
  • Thank you Jeff. This has been the overall experience since purchased the product, our sister organization has similar experience. I will be more than happy to share the case offline. Regards, Girban
  • Thank you for sharing your experience. The product is decent, especially the new UI they introduced. The update tool is a bit quirky I agree, but I am usually scared to use it when we do upgrades :)
  • The response was quick initially, acknowledging the ticket, after that it goes into ether with no substance and value tracking the case. Thank you for sharing your experience. Girban
  • Every ticket we open is a struggle. To be fair, the only ticket that went very quick is rehoming licenses for our lab SolarWinds instance Thank you for sharing your experience. Girban
  • Hello Logan, We use NPM and NCM, and our experience has been the opposite of yours. Even at one point asking for a feature request, that took months and we finally decided to abandon our ask. Regards, Girban
  • Great. Thank you Kita! For now we will create an internal api user account with restricted access to validate our work, hopefully this will be updated to eliminate confusion. Thank you both for the help. Girban
  • Hello Antonis, It appears we needed to create the same API username and password under Managed Accounts, the API user alone doesn't work. Is that expected? Regards, Girban
  • Hello Kita, This is much better now, I am at least getting the enter username/password from a browser :) However, I am getting a forbidden error message now for this basic query from Postman: https://192.168.255.122:17774/SolarWinds/InformationService/v3/Json/Query?query=SELECT+NodeID,Caption,IP_Address+FROM+Orion.Nodes I…
  • Hello HerrDoktor, We have exhausted all the links and references above, all we are trying to figure out is why it's not working. If the this only supported via Thwack and Github, it would have been nice for support to mention that instead of sitting on the ticket for 5 days ;) Regards, Girban
  • Thank you Antonis for the reply. We are try to execute a simple query to test API, nothing seems to work. We tried with a Python script, direct URL and Postman, the error is the same - "405Method Not Allowed". We can't even confirm if the feature is working, and there is not indication what possibly is going wrong. Thank…
  • Perfect. Thank you Marlie, we will try it out and report back. Gibran
  • Hello Malrie, This is awesome, thank you for the suggestion. Is it possible to set this up on a schedule to execute on a monthly or a set period of time? Thank you, Gibran
