There is a different option you could pursue. You can build a custom page & tables where temperatures are listed as numbers and numbers change colors when parameters are meant. Someone would need to monitor but you could build a page like that. 

What Alert are you trying to get? You can "monitor" reachability with ICMP, but that probably isn't what you want. Using Log Analyzer and some other log functions, you can import/read firewall logs and alerts from SolarWinds. You MIGHT be able to create alerts off of those logs.
