Is that what you're doing? Go to Assigned Application Monitors, select the target node, and then delete the unwanted template. Then you go to APM Application Summary and that app template is still associated with the node?

Issue has been corrected. Simply had to adjust the polling interval since it was timing out.

The one main thing NOT IN DATABASE is Reports. So if you are like me and have to make reports for everyone and thier brother then you better back up the REPORTS folder under orion. Maps use to not be in the database but i long since stopped using the maps and am not sure where the maps are stored now with NetworkAtlas.

I haven't found a way to do this with web reports - but it is not too hard to do with report writer reports..... Here's how I do previous month, 7am to 5pm Mon-Fri.....

Hi, I am currently testing the IPAM for a POC and I also have this problem. I defined a user with rights on only one folder, with "Hide" on all other folders. However this user is still able to see all the folders (they are grey but not hidden). As this thread is from 2013, does anyone know if it has been solved ? Are the…

Back up the database ...rename it when you restore it for v8 to use. Run both simultaneous as long as the devices can handle being double polled. Start pruining from the v7 as soon as they are up and running good on the v8. NC Desert

Interesting requests, and things we are considering for the future.

You have a lot of ORs there, so effectively any ONE of those things will trigger your rule to fire. Are your other events getting generated from services being stopped on your Avantis server (ServiceStop.DetectionIP=*avantis*)? Should those inside OR groups actually be AND?

There are quite a few settings that could be causing this. In Email -> Options, what is When ID in Subject Is Not Recognized set to? In Tickets -> Options:

We're still experiencing this issue. Do reps from Solarwinds frequent this board at all, or should I submit this as bug report? Also, since this got no replies, should I assume that no one else experiences a problem like this?

APM has the concept of a "monitor", which is a discrete element. A monitor is something like "Is this service running"? APM also has the concept of an "Application", which is a collection of multiple monitors. An application is up if all the monitors are up and down if any monitor is down. You can create an alert on…

Here you go : Discovery Profile error: Could not start/store discovery job - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support Sounds like you may need to rerun the configuration wizard again. Check the user permissions in SQL as the article suggests.

This is what MS says about blocking http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271509 You could you the script they provide as a stored procedure and a SQL user experience monitor in APM to do this monitoring.

One of the things we miss the most from our other product.

The severity levels are determined by the categorization of the event - i.e. the "Event Name" and where it's located in the LEM event taxonomy. Most "Audit" alerts are lower severities while most "Security" alerts are higher severities, for example. If it would help, I can give you a list of what each LEM event's severity…

WAMP as in windows-apache-mysql-php(perl, etc) or WAMP as in web-application-messaging-protocol?

Good luck Steve - this is a known issue with Orion 8x. I have been fighting the issue on 2 Orion servers since day one. I have tried to find the "magic" bullet but to no avail. The fastest way (for us) is to reboot the server (sometimes several times a day). Not the most ideal way to correct the issue but since Solarwinds…

Orion views have graphs and charts, but the reports are SQL based and do not contain charts.

I have covered this in numerous forum posts but it gets lost easily. Look at http://thwack.com/members/sotherls/files/StatusUpdateResource.JPG.aspx to see how we are doing it. There is a custom resource called 'Outages.ascx' which incorporates these fields and lets you see them on your views. You can find it here: You need…

Hi all, Thanks for all these ideas, and feedback. This is indeed an important feature and I think you are not the only one who would like having a lock option. We will definitely discuss it and see what can we do about it. Meanwhile, you can keep on suggesting improvements, this is how we grow.
-
Your understanding of the resource is correct. I'm taking a look now, but this looks like a bug. If you haven't already, please open a support ticket and reference this Thwack post. That way you will be notified if there is a fix or workaround.

In addition to a Temperature Sensor UnDP that I've had for awhile, I also have a poller to retreive the Chassis Serial Number from the ERS 5000 series switches (finding it doesn't work on a new 4800 switch I just put into production). For Avaya/Nortel Secure Router 1000 and 3120 models, I have UnDP pollers for QoS…

I was never a fan of the stock images. And now I've edited them all.

DHCP DHCP DHCP Need to be able to make a defined DHCP request at a defined interval to confirm the correct response.

I would like to know recommended best practices for standalone NCM SQL database maintenance too. I'd like to know what others have done for SQL maintenance plans so I can advise our DBA? In rebuilding indexes, what is best to use as the low fill factor? Is 50%-60% a good number? Do you do a db shrink before rebuilding…

In our environment there is a lot of distance between the application and networking groups. Because of this we don’t have any need to monitor the individual services that are running on servers. What we need is expanded capability in what you call the user experience monitoring. In many cases we are monitoring the…

I am seeing the same thing in my system as well. I have been workign with support and we have been unable to correct the issue. We did notice that our Database server was running very high CPU usage at time 100%. We also noticed when monitoring the polling engines the engine would stop and start intermittently. Have you…

With Juniper devices you will be looking for the syslog message for the commit. As well, it is worth the time investment to go to SNMP traps as you get familiar with doing real time change detection. See: Configuration Management Notifications - Technical Documentation - Support - Juniper Networks

You can upgrade directly from 9.0 to 9.5.
