I am new to LEM. This morning I was with this lady from Solarwinds told me that SPOP folder contains certificates. So for example, if i push an agent to computer A and then that computer's IP or name changes for some reason and it shows as disconnected. Then we have to stop the solarwind agent services on that PC and…

Is there a way I can have end users create custom reports without have to remote desktop to the Orion server? Is there a stand alone version of report writer? We can't do it today, but it's something we want to do. Can you give me more detail on how you want to use it?

To follow up to Phil's follow up.... For the upgrade, we did upload a zip file that only contains the upgrade bits (the upgrade, Console, and Reports), but we chose not to include the agents because of the size of the download. This way it was more of a menu of choices - you can download just the minimum to upgrade, then…

I just had the same problem. Take off the last exit command after your write mem. Cirrus evidently thinks its losing connectivity to the device when it gets logged out forcefully like that. Was frusturating the heck out of me. -Tim

Upgrading to a newer version of Remote Support resolved the remote mouse and keyboard access; however, then the Remote Support application started on its own every time I logged onto the PC, either remotely or via VPN. Uninstalling and reinstalling newer version V12.0.5.6002 resolved the autostart problem.

Nothing at all? - Can you help me here?

You want to get to Node Details for one of the devices that you are wanting to reduce the number of interfaces monitored, probably a switch stack. There are several ways to get there, either from the Summary page, or Manage Nodes in Settings are an option. Once you have Node Details open for that device and are on the…

From testing, questions 3 is answered, Kiwi Syslog Server can be installed without uninstalling the older version and settings are preserved, which is great. Another question: When trying to do a silent install: "AppPath\Kiwi_Syslogd_X.X.X.setup.exe" /S INSTALL=SERVICE /D=InstallPath the web access component is not…

Outside of that, if your main poller can handle the load then it really isn't needed. We have one but our load requires it.

Thanks for update to post Mithrilhall. I created a new database (as you say, empty of nodes but that's okay). I then started a new Network Discovery, and was given the option to open an old 'discovery database', which I did. I then continued with the discovery to find all the new network nodes that have been deployed…

Thanks also for advice about SQL Express 2005 - I imagine I can just install it over the existing SQL server. I'll read the notes on M*crosoft.com Many thanks, Daren

Thanks guys - I invoked the configuration wizard by executing the install file (i.e. reinstall NPM). This in turn started the config wizard and enabled me to create a new database. I also take your point about SQL! Thanks again, Daren

I'm afraid that's not enough information for us to be very helpful. You should probably call Support so that they can help you troubleshoot.

The same thing is happen to us as well. Any change to the syslog criteria, hit refresh and we get: Unexpected Website Error The URL-encoded form data is not valid. I can change it back to the default values and now anytime I hit the refresh button I get this error.

Thanks, we've just heard this request (to integrate the Windows log forwarder syslog messages, not just have our out-of-the-box integration) once or twice now, and are keeping an eye on it. We would still be normalizing and parsing the data, so we'd need to take into account your other request for something generic. That…

Add me to this thread.... would LOVE to have a small scale, lab copy of the products I have licenses for. This will greatly increase producitivty and faciliate testing of new versions as well as allow us to develop on the non-production network (they frown on testing on a live network).

For the alerting, you're best bet is to alert on status of the items. Most likely you'll want to watch for when the element status goes to unknown. For the new volumes, you're best bet is to set up a scheduled discovery. With that you'll see new devices, interfaces, and volumes on your network. If you don't want to see a…

To add to what Garreth said, if you want it to be 100 logon failures from the SAME user (not 100 logon failures from anyone), you want to use an Advanced Threshold (hit the little gear button as he pointed out) and specify SAME DestinationAccount. Otherwise, it's commonly the timeframe that makes these things work or not…

Hi, You just need to get the correlation side of things squared away in your rule and you will be fine. Under Correlation Time change 1 to 100 and within 30 seconds to your desired time window (e.g. 3 minutes). The response window is a bit of a mystery to me too and I have typically left this setting alone for fear of…

I finally got it figured out. I had to get really specific to make it work. Here is the final product for the first alert. -----Trigger Conditions for Alert 1----- Trigger Alert when all of the following apply InterfaceStatus is equal to Down Trigger Alert when all of the following apply Primary_VPN_Tunnel is equal to Yes…

It is still not working. I had a serial interface with the same designations for VPN and Internet traffic as the example I gave and it did not alert on it. It alerted that the node was down but not that the interface. Should I change this to query the node?

The solution for this was to basically stop looking for strings at the beginning of the line in the configs. Below is the reply from SW on how to fix my specific problems: Regarding you inquiry about your config change report, this something we can fix with the creation of one rule and the modification of another. Navigate…

Short version: you can have multiple thresholds in different groups (and around the entire correlation) and events within the correlation can happen out of order. Rather than saying IF this THEN this THEN this, you say IF this AND this AND this, and those events all have to happen within some window of each other - either…

Found my own answer. Yes it can be done but make sure that the label is actually linked to a node! Duh!

1. We have numerous engineer's working every shift from around the country picking up change tickets all the time. Much like Orion, the RDP restriction of 2 users doesn't help. You can use Citrix to get around this though web interfaces are much less taxing on the host server. 2. The web interface is desirable but not…

One of SolarWinds support engineer answered me as below: There are no redundancy platform for STM. Let me raise it as a feature request to the developers to take into consideration. I will post a feature request too, later.
-
When you assign a template to a node, we don't have a filter to show only those that are unassigned. That's a good feature request.

I added a tab at the top of the Network Performance Monitor where it has Home, Events, Overview, Admin etc. I added a tab called Category but all the other tabs seem to reference a http page. When I click on my tab I get a message stating that I do not have access to that view. Any ideas? Sincerely yours, Ray Mullen…

Hi darioa, I'm not sure if this really addresses your problem, but try to have a look at this KB article, maybe it can help. Kind regards, Maria

the jitter, latency and MOS that IPSLA gives you is senthetic from device to device that will accept IPSLA being placed on it. by senthetic i mean you wont be seeing actual call statistics but data based on the IPSLA route and the test data it sends at programmed intervals. the call managers will give you the unregistered…
