basically you will need to run a sql query for this and calculate your own availability based on that time frame, due to the availability on NPM being simply if it is not up then it is not available. I make this distinction because even if the node is placed in unmanaged state it is considered down for that time and…

Found the issue. I had used some temporary credentials when I first tested the monitor. When I switched to some new credentials it would not overwrite the logs in /tmp because they were owned by the guest account. After deleting the files, the monitor generated new temp log files and started counting correctly. thanks for…

This isn't possible at present.

Thanks for posting this. It is helpful in understanding how the ASA works. I am a bit confused by this part of your comparison table... "All flows are shown without a direction marker (Also referred to as bidirectional)" What I am seeing in Solarwinds is that the traffic ingress vs egress are appearing exactly the opposite…

from what i have seen with these where the data is a table the frist row is the one it tracks. so it looks like what ever you have as the first row of the your aggregate chart table is the source of the sawtooth chart. if you hit edit you should be able to select the source and in the case of a table the different rows to…

After working with technical support I learned there is no "best practice". We arrived at the unofficial recommendation to use either options 1 or 2. In either case IPAM does not have the ability to report on the smaller DHCP scope IP addresses uniquely and separately from the large subnet IP addresses. The larger subnet…

What version of NCM? If you initiate a transfer and it completes, it should be immediately viewable.

We just went through a similar issue however our database was 1.4 TB at the start on a 2 TB drive, which became a serious issue in our upgrade to v12.0. The configuration wizard was running a very large query on the database and the drive would run out of space due to all the transaction logs generated. We found that the…

Could you possibly set an SNMP trap to send when it reboots?

From the images, it looks like you're still on 9.1. You should still have an option to grab the img tag from the source and use that in a Custom HTML resource. For details, check out this post: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/message/47110 If you upgrade to at least 10.1(we're at 10.3 currently), you can take advantage of the…

No one has the pleasure of managing Nortel/Avayas?

easiest way would be to monitor the other end of the link. and if you dont have control of the other end, if you only send a ping it will still give you the same result allowing you to see that data can pass.

Hi, Depending on the type of organisation you are working for, you may have requirements to remain compliant to a set of guidelines or have to monitor, audit or report on certain activities on your systems. It is worth seeking this guidance from your company and identifying how LEM can help you achieve this. Note that the…

Can you provide a little more info? Which pollers do you have set up? What are you trying to monitor? Did it used to work and stopped, or did it never work?

THX,, I was actually me having a senior moment. Sorry to bother everyone

Hi fcpsolaradmin, Could you please have a look at the Admin Guide, to check if your configurations match the instructions in the guide? Hope this will make it a bit clearer. Kind regards, Maria

So, it has been a week, and I've gotten no replies one way or another. I can only assume that either no one has any ideas for me to work with, or no one has read this. I am working on the assumption that it is a permissions issue, as when I attempt to launch any of the tools from the toolset, the process starts, and then…

I am assuming that netbotz would not be considered relatively inexpensive. We have deployed them in all our offices and Orion works nicely with it.

Thanks everyone for your two cents in this discussion... it was super insightful to the problems people are facing in reality. I put up the next discussion, which this one reminded me of: LEM Thought of the Week: Realistically, how careful can you be about admin rights and shared passwords?

Reference: Hardware health OIDS - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support Issue: Root cause: Depending on your point of view appears to be (1) failure of Cisco to record sensor as unavailable or (2) SolarWinds failure to link sensor to fact that interface is admin down. Result: SolarWinds reports sensor as critical not…

Just curious. Does you system use automated dependency mapping? The power of dependencies becomes evident when considering alerts. If you have an alert configured to trigger when a monitored object is down, you only want that alert to trigger if a monitored objects is positively down. In other words, you do not want an…

I mentioned that feature because I'm confident that it will get in. The next release is in progress, but it's still too early to say what will and won't make the final release. To anticipate a likely follow-up question, I also can't say exactly when the next release will ship. I can say that we'll be on 9.1 for more than a…

This seems to tie in with this thread: Has anyone here tried the SNMP v1 "solution"? I have the same issue as everyone else here, but haven't tried snmpv1.

This was solved by a support ticket. The first 2,000 nodes that are managed will be polled, the rest are ignored.

Can Macros be used in RTN ? I've tried, but it doesn't appear to work (like in Orion) I would like to see that and the ability to ignore certain changes like ntp clock-period and NVRAM config last updated. (as well as the suggestion in the first post) I've only implemented RTN this week, but I don't see that either of…

What about the Web Console in v9? Do you also need to know if someone accesses web node management?
-
First check if you can create a Scheduled Task outside of Report Scheduler. If this works then I'd log a ticket with Support as the issue is with Orion. The other possibility is that the issue is on the Windows side. Check passwords and permissions...Disabling UAC is one thing to check...also try logging in as local…

In theory, you can hook up to a Windows/AD, define your groups in AD then apply the limitations to the group. I say in theory because in my cursory attempt to do this I did not have success so (at least for the time being) I had to go back in and put in individual user accounts.
