Does the "Solarwinds Alerting Service" pertain to the advanced alerting only? Correct. Generally, during a maintenance window, users unmanage the devices, so no new data comes in to trigger any alerts.
-
Hi, I think this is a coincidence, when an upgrade takes places all of the old alerts that have triggered may still be there. It sounds like you may have a bit of work to do evaluating each alert and dealing with the alerts accordingly. Adam @acmtix

Sounds like you'll need to enter the NCM credentials here. The default Administrator name is "Administrator"...not "Admin" as in NPM.

This is a known issue we're addressing in SP1. The workaround is to update the VMConfigFile column data type to varchar(250) from varchar(100). It is in the VirtualMachines table. I don't have an exact date for SP1 at this point, but it should be soon.

Yes, we are planning to add this functionality to an upcoming release. No firm dates yet, but we're talking months, not next year. Denny LeCompte Sr. Product Manager, Orion SolarWinds

With 8.5.1, you should keep your custom speeds.
-
Check out the timestamps - it looks like either the time/timezone on your LEM appliance isn't set or it differs from your Orion system sending the trap. Due to that huge delta, the rules won't fire because they think that data is too far outside of the normal activity window. This KB might help (it applies to incidents as…

we have a process in our company were all the alerts get reviewed (the significant ones anyway) and I would like to request an action be added in the Alerts configuration to display the Alert on the console where it can be ack'd by a human or by the reciept of a clearing trap or message. Also provide the option to keep the…

Are you adding a Group (Build > Groups) for rules/filters or a User (Build > Users) for logging in to LEM? It sounds like the latter, but wanted to double check.

Gareth- I don't believe there is a later version than 8. Version 8 was a big update for us as it supported Server 2003 X64 versions. I am betting the next version will support Server 2008 including core builds....though I'm not entirely sure how feasable that is....Server Core doesn't get along with .NET. Who knows.

If the issue is still true after upgrading Orion and the Wireless Network Monitor to 8.1, then please open a ticket so that we can hotfix it.
-
have you tried to use the time window within the alert window so it only alerts dring that time frame? i would love to be able to set support windows on devices as i have a multi-customer Orion but i don;t think we will ever get it
-
Did you see the British Nuclear Missile Submarines run on Windows XP? bit worrying... some in the military say its the Windows XP / Nuclear Submarine edition, so its security hardened, but i'm not so sure about that at all.
-
Make sure the "SolarWinds Job Scheduler" service is running in the services list. If it is not running, or having problems, you may get that error message. If you can start it and it runs fine, great. Otherwise, I'd open a support ticket.

I figured it out. When searching using username fields you need to use "userName" with a capital N even though the username field in the results isn't camel case.
-
I branched this off to its own discussion so that in case others are experiencing it they can find it more easily We haven't been able to reproduce this in the lab since you reported it, so we're not quite sure what's going on. Our best guess is a different configuration or policy (AV even) than we're testing against. Did…

OR... the : or * may be killing it. Just try "^!Startup config saved at" You don't need the wildcard and the special character may not be kosher...
-
Check the spacing on the config. I backup running configs and the only thing I've had to filter out is "^!Time"
-
That's not natively possible in Orion but if you have Cisco kit then the IPSLA module would be of use: http://www.solarwinds.com/products/ip-sla-monitoring/info.aspx

Amazingly still no answer and no resolution. I am very close and will provide the query and methodology very soon.
-
I'm having the same issue. What's interesting is that it found all my servers in the subnet I searched but none of my desktop machines. I've already opened a ticket and we will see what happens.

You should be able to manually change the colors in NetPerfMon.Charts. Find the chart you want, and edit the value in <Color> under <Subsets>.
-
kkennah, Would you be willing to share your SQL statement that you utilized in order to achieve this?
-
Thank you for the information.

This is a known bug that is addressed in 8.5.1.

Anyone have an answer to this, I have the same question, thanks.

Hi hany helmy, 1. The issues with the sysperinfo table are concerning but I'm curious if these problems stem from outside the tool, can you do a SELECT * FROM SYS.SYSPERINFO? What about as the DPA / Ignite monitoring user? I shot you an email from our ticketing system with other troubleshooting as well for the rest of the…

can NPM (or Lansurveyor) discover devices behins a public VPN network cloud like IP_VPN or MPLS If SNMP will go through it, we can discover, but we don't have any special command.
-
I figured this out. Turns out there are actually 3 reports in NCM (Memory in Cisco devices, Flash memory & flash file system) that can give me the information I need. I need to work a little magic with Excel to combine them all into one single report, but essentially there was no need to build any new reports or SNMP…
