After doing the import of all your assets. You could do a Bulk Change to all the Laptops, Desktops, etc. and edit a field marking them as such. I think when creating the report, if you click the report filters tab, you can play with that to choose a specific request type that you want the report to show. If you created a 'reopened' status type for those tickets that are re-opened by users, it will be even easier.
