This has now started working, weird... I reckon someone else must be changing the template settings

We'll be adding this feature in v9.0, which is due out in the first half of 2008.

Hi Alex Slv, I am not sure if you can receive notifications only for the documents. If you already follow the Server & Application Monitor forum and receive email notifications, you can set up some rules in your inbox to filter the emails based on the content of that email. Use for instance keywords like "document" or "go…

So, I'm assuming another task is doing these polls - and they are not included in the element count (is this correct?) You are correct, device pollers are not counted in your element count. Only nodes, interfaces, and volumes are used for NPM licensing. If another task is doing the custom polls - are they also spread…

If you write with "Critical", "Warning", or "Error" severity, LEM will automatically pick it up, otherwise we'd have to tweak the Application Log connector.
-
No, we can't have them execute in a chain to create a single monitor. It's something we're considering for the future. What tool are you using now?

Issue is resolved. Ignore! Sorry! Miss typed the code when I placed it in the custom URL box.

I should be able to explain #1 and #2. For the #3 and #4, I recommend opening a support ticket. For #1, we did make a change to CPU utilization for multi-CPU devices. Previously, we just took the value of the first CPU, but we now average the values of all CPU's in the device. So this could be some of what you're seeing.…

Unfortunately, you've stopped in the middle of install and configuration. As part of that process, the various Orion processes are stopped. You might want to uninstall APM and rerun your Configuration Wizard. Once you have the key, you can reinstall APM, which will again re-run the Configuration Wizard.

That is where I found it most useful. It is used by the System when it snmp polls devices that you are monitoring with SNMP and if the MIB database does not include it then the results you see in the Node Details would not be very detailed. I recently saw this with the VMWare servers. In previous versions of Orion and…

On a gauge, you can change its size to up to 250%. Is that not big enough?
-
We've often been asked to re-create the JobEngine.sdf file when polling goes funny. You will have to stop the services to do it, but it is a relatively simple process and won't break things if you make a backup as it suggests. Details can be found here: knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/.../ Andy.

Our system requirements are. SP2 is not required. Operating System: Windows 2003 Server (32-bit or 64-bit) including R2, with IIS installed Just to be clear, we do not support any version of Windows XP.

Check out the "DHCP but no Agent" and similar rules. The "DHCP but no Agent" rule looks for a DHCP lease where there's no LEM agent installed. You could also hook up your Active Directory groups, put all your known computer accounts in it, and modify the rule to look for a DHCP lease to a computer that's not in your group…

Yes, it can be done, but you'll have to change the SQL query for the report..
-
We realize that the current requirement is not ideal. We plan to improve this in the next release of Orion so that "sa" will not be needed during setup.
-
The other thing which jumped out immediately was one large table ("NPM_ScheduledJobJournal" with 1.7 million rows) with no indexes at all. I would like to add at least a clustering index to this. Would that be OK? Other than that the database looks fairly well structured." You can go ahead and delete the rows in this…

The "SQL Server VSS Writer" component is unable to connect to the server. Did you test the AppInsight template before you applied it? Unknown state can be related to permissions. Adam

The chart should be showing the days across the bottom(30 Tue, 1 Wed, 2 Thu, ...). We did some work in 9.0 SP2 to fix the majority of these issues, so I'd make sure that you're at least up to date on that and it should resolve a lot of the issues. In some recent testing, we found a case where it wasn't working as…

Good request. I've entered it into our database. In the meantime, could you create an alert action that creates a script to write the info from the trap into the NetPerfMon event log? I know it's suboptimal, but it's something you could do now.
-
danielgilbey, you didn't break any rules. No worries. We moved your thread to the thwack Community space since the NPM one is for product related questions.

Thank you everyone for your help. Work pretty well for what i need. Much appreciate

This is something I want to accomplish as well. Are there detailed steps for doing this out there?

It has been suggessted that a "VM Host View" like the one for VMWare ESX Server be created for Hyper-V Servers. It has not been implemented yet- thus why it only shows as NT Server. We also use Hyper-V and would love to see this kind of resource.

Any ETA for fixing the NCM 7.0 add Node functionality ? The remark is quite confusing, is it a known bug related to the CRUD operations themselves, and Direct DB is possible, or are both not to be used ? With NCM 7.0 not including the possibility to create an "Import from NCM" scheduled job anymore, it is unclear whats…

This difference is explained here.

Hi muhammad.nazakat, The first place to check would be the this one: Network Tools, IT Management Software & Monitoring Tools | SolarWinds. You will find here information about products, and also contacts for sales related queries. Kind regards, Maria

Is this a change fro 8.1? Is there a bug we need to open?
-
No need to uninstall. Just install over the top. The fact that its a whole install is a side effect of our licensing system. Most of the files are the same, so when you install over the top, only the files impacted by licensing will be updated.

i was getting similar errors, but i have upgraded to APM 3.1 NPM 9.5.1 install all windows updates problems now gone away... not sure which item got rid of the problem, except i think APM3.1 was unrelated...
