We would like to see some better support for IPT devices, when we see a device in UDT it shows as not directly connected because it is connected to the internal switch on a Cisco IPT device therefore when searching for devices it brings back a number of different results because we can't lock it down to directly connected.…

As the information is contained in the SNMPv2-SMI::transmission MIB (For example 857 router would be SNMPv2-SMI::transmission.94.1.1.5.1.2.12 and SNMPv2-SMI::transmission.94.1.1.4.1.2.12) is there a way to automate the input of these values into the interface speed? Regards Tom

I think when creating the report, if you click the report filters tab, you can play with that to choose a specific request type that you want the report to show. If you created a 'reopened' status type for those tickets that are re-opened by users, it will be even easier.

nnettrouer will likely stay away from that sensor. I looked into NTI, at a good price, offers what we needed.

d09h davebrowne I'll check both of these options out.

Yes, these features are on the roadmap.

Recently Solarwinds sent me an email stating that rather than fix a recognized bug in Network Performance Monitor, their development team is considering removing that capability from NPN. Not because they don't think it's a good feature. No, their reason is, 1) because they don't know what the problem is, and 2) because…

The basic alert engine is actually part of each poller, so poller X can't see the data from poller Y. That's one of the reasons why we built the advanced alert engine--it's centralized. For basic alerts on an additional poller, you'd need to access the system manager on that poller. Is there something you want to do that…

Hi, I want to test checkpoint device for the NCM config and ı read about create new device template so could you have any checkpoint device template? Thanks Emre

It doesn't matter where you put it. You need to import it. See here for more details on importing: www.solarwinds.com/.../wwhelp.htm

Thanks! Good news is that it works. Bad news is I have to wait until late next week to install and test it.

I created a support ticket for this and received no response. Even asked my sales rep to follow up....nothing. Crickets. Is this typical of Solarwinds support?

First, make sure you have installed SP1. That should resolve the problem of only showing two guests instead of all nine. The 'divide by zero' error occurs on ESX servers where there are no running VM's on the server. This issue is targeted to the next service pack.

We use the "Views by device type" in our shop....it's a very small shop (only 7 of us) so we all pretty much need to see everything. But what I'm thinking of in your case may be a combination of views by device type, and account limitations. As far as admin rights go, only myself, and my Manager and Director have admin…

All who are interested.... NCM 7.1 works as it is advertised. All configuration changes can be made via the additional poller...I suppose I should have been more patient and waited for the actual real release. Good learning experience though...

Which browser are you using? With IE, it should do that automatically. With Firefox, there's a setting(I'll have to look it up), and I have no clue about Chrome. You can change it in the config wizard, but you can also update on the Web Console settings page(http://<server>/Orion/Admin/Settings.aspx). Look for the Windows…

So NCM 7.1 was released today - and with that was the additional poller I was looking for. Installing today and will test...more to come on...

Good suggestions. A couple of clarifications: The ability to have nested maps show as they do when you do a preview. Currently when you design a map and lay it out as you want it then have it as a nested map the layout changes to just the map and nodes below it. Can you explain what it is you want to see here? I started to…

You'll want to get 9.1 SP3 installed. That will resolve the issue.

problem i see with this is that you will have to copy your main database every (timeperiod you decide) then shut down the secondary system and run a script on the database to change all the pollers and fix the type of polling. Then restart the secondary system once the script is done having inserted the new copy of the…

Just wanted to add, usually we see this when you do: * Log in as one user * Add/create a new user * Log out and back in as that new user WITHOUT RESTARTING your browser Something happens that corrupts the state of the user. We're hoping to fix this in a future release. Usually delete/recreate fixes, but if you see this for…

You should contact your sales rep.

If I perform update management (in planning mode) and use the microsoft site for scanning, I see all the missing office patches... I have them set to download them in both WSUS and Patch Manager side, but the Computer Management, Windows Update Scan does not show them.

i am running v10.2.2 to get this report you can go to report page then under "current volume status" choose "available space on each volume" This default report gives all the volumes sorted by the node already expanded to show all the volumes in the node this seems to be a 75% solution to your request only lacking the…

I have this issue too, but not from reports. My entourage users get this from advanced alerts I have setup to email webpages to them. I think this may be an issue with Entourage properly displaying the html. Does anyone out there have a fix for this?

SWSD is an SAAS whereas WHD is on premise

I asked the Dev team to look at this one, and their advice was for you to open a ticket so that we can collect diagnostics and help figure it out.

I am also having the same issue. It seems like the nodes that are already setup are working but any time you try to list resources or edit the node connection settings Solarwinds seems unable to find the system. I ran the update yesterday (3/26) before lunch and have not been able to update a node since.
