There's no automagic way to go search to rule (or filter to rule), only filter to search. I think it might be a suggestion in the feature request area, though. Easiest thing to do is side by side and recreate your filter/search in rules.

Are you asking if you can create an alert with a custom SQL Query?

That data is going to be more easily gathered from Netflow off your border firewalls/routers. Or if you're just looking to see what addresses respond to requests (providing you allow ICMP) then IPAM will show your used address space.

Is that number--# of connected users--stored in the DB itself? Lots of management data are stored in the DB. If so, you can actually get that information by using the Oracle User Experience Monitor, which will run a SQL query against the database and return the result as your statistic.

You need to make a poller for each OID in the MIB. I've made feature request in the past to walk the MIB and allow selection of OIDs by check box to make a poller. Other programs do this and it's absolutely wonderful and a huge time saver.

 after upgrading to 8.5 I noticed that all alerts basic/advanced setups were listed under the new Alert Manager. In System Manager you can click ALERTS and it will still show the BASIC ALERTS / ADVANCED ALERTS tabs.
