This is also becoming quite serious for us as well. We also have had a ticket open (90802) since 4/15. We need some kind of time frame as to when this issue will be resolved. I am in the process of purchashing 2 more Orion servers (SLX) with APM and EOC and I will need to hold up that purchase until I know that this isuse…

CAT 6509/13 switches are a major part of our 600,000 network elements currently using another NMS. We have about one percent of these using ORION. We don't see any major ORION expansion due to the CAT port names not being able to be discovered. We can not manually cut and paste 200,000+ port names. ORION needs to be able…

Has anyone successfully been able to correct this on APM 2.5? We have approx 600 components with an unlimited license, and I get 4000 alearts per day with this. The monitors wil come up, then down. My timeouts are at an absurd 20 minutes. Based on our Support cases, very few users are experiencing this problem. If anyone…

I think this issue is back in SAM 5.0. I'd like to see it working the old way again. Kind regards, Jörg

Why don't you upgrade to IOS on the 6500's?
-
I can't agree more with you. I am evaluating ORION for a large company that has over 200++ CAT 6500 switches. I manually put in the port names for 8 switches. Talk about labor intensive. I can't see doing 5000 plus interfaces and trying to keep them updated.

How are you evaluating v8.5.1? If you download the eval, the current version is 9.0. The different is relevant because custom poller in 8.5 was replaced in v9.0 with the new (and much improved) Universal Device Poller.

Yes, that's an additional license - for more info see the Scalability page below: http://www.solarwinds.com/products/orion/scalability/

Lets see my most recent ticket which was open for 11+ weeks for a bug that was previously encountered. Yes thats a 11 week disruption to production services. Lets see.. 11 weeks.. thats 22 weekend days.. Does that mean they might have found the bug they had previously identified in 8 weeks? =) More support coverage does…

This is no longer needed... deleting and recreating the alerts fixed the issue. Thanks anyway

Hi secoya007, If you want to uninstall WHD, you should follow the steps provided here, depending on your operating system: http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/webhelpdesk/flarehelp/whd_12-2-0_pa_en/default.htm#helpdeskfaq4uninstallhelpdesk…

If NCM and NPM are on the same server they will be fully integrated. You'll need to move NCM to its own server for your requirements. Please see:
-
lots of math up there. just add a field to the nodes table that stores the date/time of the last syslog you recieved from that address. then write an alert to check that field vs current date/time the one alert above looks like it would be reading the syslog table every minute (polling cycle) which could really kill NPM…

We have had requests to use "containers" (groups, AD groups, etc) in reports, but so far adding them manually is the best we can do. Some customers with crystal reports have used things like text files to join as "lists" directly, but using Crystal might be more of a pain than maintaining a manual list Multi-tenancy isn't…

The hot-standby requires an additonal server but not another database. The way I understand how it works is...each poller continually updates, for lack of a better word, a "control" record in the SQL database (not sure of the sync interval but it's frequent). The "control" record(s) are monitored (at a user configurable…

I'm pretty sure that those naming conventions are as they are because of some quirks of our back end systems. That said, I will see whether any of that can be changed.
-
Lots of people use the DirectLink feature to accomplish this goal.
-
While you might be able to do this in the UI via activating action rules to apply custom fields to tickets opened during that time frame and THEN searching for tickets with the custom field, it might be easier to utilize the REST API Web Help Desk REST API Guide

BTW, the FTP link posted for SP2 does not reference SL2000, so I'm not sure if this update would work? Service Packs aren't size-specific. There's one SP for all production versions. There is a separate one for Evals.

There are standard out of the box alerts for this. My inbox is full of them every day. Go to alerts & activity, manage alerts, then do a search for packet / high response time and you will see the alert.

Hi jordonrapp, If you are using Internet Explorer, please have a look at this article. It might solve your issue. Kind regards, Maria

zthiel, Your SQL Server looks a bit underpowered unless you have a very smaller environment. 1 GB of RAM is not much for a SQL Server. How many elements are you polling? If every single page is slow, that's where we would look first because the web site is reading from the DB. One thing you might do is look at the…

While I can't give you exact numbers, I can say that I monitor about 400 total elements and my solarwinds server averages about 40 packets per second and 40kbps. That's nothing.

There is no CLI support at this time for creating alerts, but it's a good idea, and I've opened a feature request for it.
-
I'll add this one as a feature request. I've heard it more than a couple of times.

Yes. All upgrades are free for customers on maintenance. Without maintenance, there are no upgrades. You or your customer should contact SolarWinds Customer Service to see how to get right with maintenance.
-
Support is working the case.

We have no plans to add this functionality to system manager. Our strategic direction is to move all admin functionality to the web console. Is there a particular reason you need it in System Manager? Or is it just preference?

Are your ESX servers managed by Orion? If so, when you drill down to the node details for one of those servers, what do you see?
