As of NPM 10.2, we support receiving v3 traps on all supported versions of Windows. We no longer depend on the Windows Trap Service, which was the limitation with the older versions.

If you do go down the ODBC User Experience route as suggested (we do this for different clusters/instances and such) the connection string is simply: Driver={SQL Server};Server=${IP},62681;DataBase=;Uid=${USER};Pwd=${PASSWORD}; Andy.

The ability to ... . CRUD options for subnets/supernets and ip's via the API as well as set scan options on subnets/supernets. (to include UDT) . configure IPAM to poll routers for subnets . (for) solarwinds products to use data captured from one solarwinds product to populate another.. A lot of NPM/UDT polled data could…

Sure. I have a few ideas I would be willing to discuss.

I would be willing to discuss my ideas..

This is Great! Thanks for sharing. Quick question - for machines with multiple CPU, does the SQL query check the individual CPU usage or the average of all?

I was just looking at these events the other day - they are relatively new so I think they didn't quite get mapped 100%. As curtis said if you can submit what you're seeing in the event log and what you're seeing in LEM, we should be able to make them match relatively quickly. (Best is a .evtx sample so we can…

Hi, Just did the upgrade this morning. I had no problems with the actual installs etc but now i have two different syslog servers, one in NCM and one in Orion. The original syslog server service no longer starts and thus does not collect data .This happens to be the syslog server that is displayed via the orion web…

Justin, The next release is 8.5.1, which will be service release with no feature and lots of bug fixes. That's in testing and will be released soon. I think you're really asking about the next major release. I can't go into any details yet. We're in planning phase, so almost anything I say now will be wrong long before the…

Hi ctna-gzoltun, Thank you for the willingness to share your experience and feedback on thwack. This is always a great way to help us improve our products. Would you mind also posting here the ticket number? Thanks!

Where does it say "unsupported"? Can you show us a screenshot?

We are in the middle of a major overhaul of Map Maker. It'll take the tool to a new level of usability.
-
This is actually an APM issue. This is the NPM forum. Regardless, what you're seeing isn't right; you should open a Support ticket.
-
Anthony, Within the product directly, there's not a simple way to remove CPU monitoring from every node, although if you contact support, they should be able to walk you through the non-simple way. That said, why are you looking to remove CPU monitoring? Is it causing a problem? Thanks, Casey

It's coming back in the next SP. I was working on this yesterday. In the meantime, you should be able to use the Win32 GUI application to view and filter by date/time. Check out the 'Search Message's... toolbar item.

open Orion system manager click on settings database tab look for statistics summarization these are all the control points for data retention.
-
Couldn't you just copy each alert and change the trigger setting that says "alert me if this conditions is true for XX seconds"? You would get multiple alerts, one for XX minutes, one for YY minutes, etc.
-
Good ideas. I've captured them for future consideration.

For the Web Access you can do it easily. Filter Field select "Message Text" , IS , Like, 4624. 4624 is the event id for an "An Aacount was successfully logged on." Then do the same for 4634 "An account was logged off." That should get you started, hope it helps.

So where are you running into problems? Here's the high level steps: * Install Orion * Discover devices--servers in your case * Install APM * Create application templates * Assign templates to servers Where do you need help? You can use the Admin Guide located online: www.solarwinds.com/.../wwhelp.htm

seems like you have your answer but if you have a mixed shop and these are the only ones you have issues with then yeah it is the switch maker that is just trying to push off the problem. I have a full cisco farm and switches from 12 to 2000 ports and have topology turned on for all of them. Lean on the switch maker to fix…

Can you give an example of what you'd like to do?

Try ( Must contain regex "^logging " And must not contain regex "^logging (?!10\.1\.1\.1\r*\n)" ) In a must not contain rule. Parentheses are required to make them inclusive of each other.

All fixed. Weirdly even though the server had been rebooted it was a service stop / start that ended up resolving this. At least now I can push on with 10.1.3 installation. Odd that it was just disk volumes that weren't polling but other data was fine

i absolutely agree... the stats are ont he routers, but for some reason, only the really expensive tools do it... I al looking to move to IBM Provisio as it does it and I already have an enterprise license but it is a horrible product to get your head around come on SW, make the move, add a CBQoS tab to the main NPM pagfe…

Can you give us more detail? Dev and I chatted, and we think we know what you're referring to, but then again, maybe not.

Our organization is relatively new to Solar Winds and we are hoping to leverage UNIX TCL scripts by migrating them to our Windows environment. The Solar Winds documentation suggests any WSH executable script can be invoked however it isn't clear how to instruct the Windows Monitor that the script is TCL. Further from my…

I'm sorry to hear that Shaun, a bar of chocolate a box set and a beer always makes me happy.

Interesting - we are expecting a Windows file share and are using a CIFS mount command. I/O error is a little vague, though - do you always get that error? You might want to pop open a support case on this one so they can reproduce it. I know we have DFS shares internally, but I don't know if we've tested backup/archive to…
