If everyone is using Active Directory, all of the authentication activity should also be logged in AD. You'll need to monitor the Windows Security Logs on all Domain Controllers in your Active Directory domain. There's no guarantee which one will service the logon, so you have to audit all of them. By default, when you…

Go to the Trap Viewer Windows UI. From there, you can create a rule that fires a wide variety of alert actions. If you want to create an Event, that's one of the options.

Hi- I know this is an old thread, but I am very interested in some integration of Splunk graphs and charts into NPM. We now have 10.1.1 and APM 3.5 (looking at 4.0 now too) and are very happy with it. Our devs want to stay with logs for now, and I'd like to tie in the NPM dashboards with Splunk. Has anyone here explored…

there is near 2000 of various private/enterprise MIB OIDs identifiers supported by managed device, each OID identifies a variable that can be read or set via SNMP, each OID have syntax type and read/write access type, where are stored all these values of a variables in managed device running embedded Linux?

We didn't test it against the OperationsManagerDW databases, just the standard OpsMgr database.

Tom, I'm sorry to hear that you had a tough time with the upgrade. Although we labeled in 8.5, this release of Orion was actually a major architectural change to the website. It had to be done in order to move forward with a lot of outstanding customer requests; the technology had us stuck. As for the quality issue, I'll…

cao, Is this an Orion NPM question or a NetFlow Traffic Analyzer question? Denny LeCompte Sr. Product Manager, Orion SolarWinds

found the problem.... i shut down IIS to stop a file lock then rean the upgrade at the start of the config wizzard, it told me that WWW was not running, do you want me to start it for you, i said yes i was paranoid so i checked is iisadmin had started and it had. i did not bother checking the rest config failed checked and…

Maybe a simple question, but where do you call the script, in SWIS? I have one that I want to try, but I'm having the darndest time finding a step by step or gathering the information I need to attempt to test automation.

Anyone out there using NPM 10.6 with the SDK 1.7 to add and remove devices? Support says SDK 1.8 supports NPM 10.6, any way to get a pre-release candidate if it's not GA as yet? Trying simple device adds and removes fails, what SDK can I use? Using the supplied examples with the SDK (CRUD.AddNode) is the basis, but the…

Same thing here. Running same versions. Please post answer if you find one. I'll do the same. Thanks

So we can sign up for a "free plan" with 15000 transactions/month but how do we apply that to SW?
-
I don't think this is documented more than stating a fact that you can add more than one So, the way it works is that you add more managers from the Manage > Appliances tab, and you can access and manage all features of the console against all of them from a single console. There's one "primary" appliance where the web app…

I've asked the same question and it is not possible. I also created a data transformation to give the proper amps reading.

Is it possible to run vb script or external program which will clear advanced alert after and matching event lets say 5 or 15 min after trigger event occur? Advanced Alerts are in SQL, so you if you can trigger a SQL script to run, you can do it. For what you describe, however, you could just set a trigger and a reset…

We are looking for this feature as well. Mostly for adding more information like the actual volume that is alerting instead of just the node details. Linking trouble tickets would also make life so much easier. Thanks Chris

Hi and welcome to Thwack! :-) Traffic View Builder in the Netflow module will give you this information, check out the demo below: http://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/TrafficAnalysis/SummaryView.aspx

It's not possible now, but it's something we're seriously considering.

In this case, you should probably open a Support ticket.

Blackberry Enterprise Server changes SQL Server in ways that are incompatible with the Orion database.

There is some event processing overhead on the appliance, but it is mostly storage and IO. The original log store is compressed, and since it's all text data you can imagine it's relatively well-compressed. Putting the log storage on the same disk as the normalized storage just means they are both reading/writing to the…

That *should* work. Could you post a screenshot?

You can edit the resource and the last box is Filter Nodes (SQL). Try: Comments !='TempUp' To exclude these nodes from this particular list. *Edit* - Corrected field name to Comments from Comment

Orion core is taking the CPU measures via SNMP and is getting an average across 9 minutes (or whatever your polling interval is for nodes), while APM is checking each process every 5 minutes, and it's measuring the CPU usage of that process/service in a smaller interval. So you might see different results because of…

We had the same issue that the APM jobscheduler engine was causing various problems. The APM Service Pack 3 fixed the memory leak and CPU issue for us. If you don't have all the Orion and APM service packs installed give it a shot.

Hi epenney, Thank you for letting us know. I will check the status of these orders and come back to you as soon as possible.

Do you have your MS SQL database located on the same server as your solarwinds main poller?

I just upgraded this week to NPM 12.1 and the latest of all other modules. I am astonished that this bug was NOT resolved in the update. Very disappionting and troubling, the Solarwinds product team needs to re-evaluate their backlog for bugfixes and their respective priority. New features are great, but bugs that impact…

Silverback... nope, looks like the same results from the Events tab as in the application summary. It tells me what part failed but not the value at the time of failure. I need to be able to see the value that breached the threshold.
