You'll definitely need to start with some of the tidbits in this KB: Create LEM Custom Reports Using Crystal Reports - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support. There's some bits and pieces needed to even connect to the LEM database, and that KB tells you what to copy where (and what to modify in CRConfig.xml).

1. If you're worried about the CPU/Memory hit on your production server, then try an eval copy of NPM and an eval copy of APM 2. Bandwidth utilization is not high, but it will depend on what you're polling. Without any testing on your side, there is no way for us to estimate the impact. Is APM support any Client to be…

I'm also interested in the variables that I can re-use in the Advanced Alert Manager. Like the OP, I'd like to use the Message and Statistic values that I echo back to APM from the Windows Script monitor. The statistic value is nicely graphed by APM but I'm returning information in the Message that would be really helpful…

The "test" feature doesn't test the trigger, just the action (yes it is silly). Your trigger looks solid though.
-
There may be many causes for this, and logging a Support Ticket is probably the best way to investigate this fully. First check All Orion services are running. Perhaps the issue is with the connection to the SQL server. Evebt Viewer should shed some light on the root cause also.

Victor APM is not a Business Activity Monitor product. It's much more of an infrastructure monitoring product. APM does have a few very focused user-experience monitors. You might be able to write scripts to answer some of those, but it doesn't do that out of the box. We are currently working on another product that will…

Not currently, but we've had a feature request for this. You might check the forum to see if there's an idea there already you could upvote, or create one so that we can track Thwack votes.
-
Are you asking if they'll be supported in the Advanced Alert Engine?
-
Or even what a candidate tester is? I am guessing it has something to do with testing something with the tool but I am baffled...
-
No, though the suggestion we had recently to be able to alert based on a quantity of events returned from nDepth is very similar and would serve this purpose, OR being able to baseline and detect if things have dropped well below the baseline (like to zero, say). The best we can do is alert for something that's not…

that play a sound is kind of funny since it will be playing on the server. So unelss you can extend the sound from the server to all the rooms you have monitors in it will be useless. the popups might be able to be done if you use the run a script and do a net send to the appropriate workstations that are feeding the…

This works for CPU ${N=SwisEntity;M=CpuLoadThreshold.Level1Value} % Shows my warning percentage threshold. ${N=SwisEntity;M=CpuLoadThreshold.Level2Value} % Shows my critical percentage threshold. I've looked into Web Performance Monitor and I cannot see a threshold variable for the specific transaction metric. So maybe you…

If you don't mind having the alerts delayed a few minutes you could increase the grace period by changing the Trigger Condition section 'Do not trigger this action until condition exists for more than ' to something like 5 minutes, that way it has to exist in a down state for 5 minutes before alerting. You can do this for…

You first create the rule, then the policy. Under the Policy you can use node caption as criteria but it's regular wildcard matching. You can mix and match rules assigning them to various policies. I hope this answer helps, let me know if I need to elaborate further!
-
No, but we'll take that as a feature request.

To collect the data you're looking for, you might use SNMP and leverage the net-snmp agent that's included with Solaris. Alternately, you could leverage Nagios scripts via APM's Open Source Script converter which will let it use Nagios scripts. You can find those at the Nagios Exchange. www.nagiosexchange.org/.../page.cgi

*BUMP* Does anyone monitor any Brocade Silkworm SAN Switches? If so, Please help.

Microsoft does do this. I am hopeing Microsoft Windows will be comming out of beta one of these days. It has been in beta since 1995. They almost had a stable OS with Win2k but they went away from that and are now floundering more than ever. As I tell my friends one day Windows will recieve its last patch and when you boot…

First, I'd like to apologize for the experience you've had. It's not the norm, but it's more common that we'd like. For 9.5 in particular, we had a number of issues with Network Atlas, and much of what we've been doing in these service packs is fixing those problems. We agree that there are some weaknesses in our overall…

familyofcrowes and byrona, as folks who have expressed interest in FIM, if you have time next week we're doing a little more digging into this. I posted a new thread - Interested in File Integrity Monitoring with LEM? Seeking volunteers...
-
We don't currently have a true FIM solution (basically, people are using windows file auditing with LEM to get by), but we're looking into it. Nothing inevitable, and no timelines (as usual ). Would you be using it in the same space as LEM - that is, if it were a part of the LEM agent (like USB-Defender), would that…

If you know the MIB and OID where the data is reported, you can use the Universal Device Poller to get that data as often as you'd like.
-
Matt, Can you provide some more details about what needs to be done to transform that number? What is it about that value that prevents you from using it directly?
-
You need all of the services. The information service is used for a wide variety of purposes, so you can't turn that off. Just serving the website from a different box will help some, but you need those services.
-
How often are you polling and what is the time period for the report? It may be that you've got the grouping and polling frequency so that you're "averaging" one poll per cycle, so all the values are the same.
-
Hi there! I'd like to bump this post once again as I am searching for the same information... Maybe the Solarwinds tech staff could hook in and reveal how the new/changed/as-is information is calculated from the tables Kind regards, Jörg
-
Do you have the "append to text file" connector enabled on that agent?
-
Thanks! We're looking at ways to better integrate LEM with Orion, I'm glad to see people interested in seeing them together For anyone who hasn't found how to embed the browser console into your Orion console, you can add LEM as an "External View" using these instructions.
