It's certainly possible, but it's not the way to bet. MSFT has shown very little interest in SNMP. Their existing support is very minimal. Instead, they've focused their efforts on Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). Lately, there are indications that they're moving toward some PowerShell-based management. In any…

OK, 'll have to reply myself. That yellow band is a Warning - getting low on empty ports on this switch. And the not able to search on IP address has to do with polling intervals, but I'm still trying to understand that part of the answer and work through the resolution

We are working on the next version, and we'll give it some number. I tend to leave the number to fairly late in the game. We're working on a number of things, but the ones that I'm most confident that will come out in the next release are the ability to schedule discovery and a reworking of our vmware ESX support so that…

Then I read the part about it not supporting SQL 2000 - and of course got an error when running the Config Wizard... "SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE) is not supported". Orion 8.5 definitely does support SQL Server 2000. We do not, however, support MSDE 2000. Instead, you can use SQL Server 2005 Express, which is…

Have you followed the guide on sending over the syslog messages to the Solarwinds Syslog tool from your main syslog? We send certain syslog messages from our Kiwi Server to the main NPM server where it has the Solarwinds Syslog tool running, then it see's those messages, which if you open it you will see too. From there it…

When you create tabs and want to remove something from a tab layout, don't hit the 'X', DON'T HIT THE X I SAY. That will remove it from your "Available Items". You can re-create it, but it will remove it from every user that you have that applied to. You will then have to find out who had it, most likely you will get calls…

There is an out-the-box down alert for thin APs in Advanced Alert Manager - Alert me when a Thin Wireless Access Point goes down. This alert writes to the event log but you can tailor whatever action to take you like.
-
You can do this using custom properties, but it's a manual process. We will make this more automatic in a future release.
-
We expect it in the next week or so, but we're still testing it. Should we find problems, it'll be delayed.

Check to see if SNMP is running up the CPU on your SUP. If so, and if you have a very large ARP table on your 6506, you will need to drop L3 topology polling or setup a view in your SNMP config on that switch to filter out ARP table scans via SNMP. Check this KB From Cisco: Catalyst 6500/6000 Switch High CPU Utilization -…

We have been having this issue for a few months, unable to open in IE but working in Chrome. We have tried quite a few things and nothing has worked, at first it was intermittent and now it doesn't work at all.

First, double check and make sure your "Response Window" (below correlation time) is also wide enough - it should be at least 40 seconds also. The default is 5 minutes, so you should be fine. This accounts for things like clock drift. Otherwise, everything sounds right. When you get 2 Cisco IOS Logon Failures in 40 seconds…

Thanks!

Hi, Response Time info can only be provided for applications that use TCP. Syslog doesn't use TCP. Cheers, Cliff.

@">HolyGuacamole although this does work, it adds the interfaces as a separate object within the group. Is there a way to have the node alert the group that an interface is down?

It doesn't seem to work no matter what i change , the syslog test does work and i do get the logs sent to the SIEM System . Do i need to configure anything else inside the kiwi syslog server? thank you

I am doing something similar by monitor MDF and LDF file size using APM. Have you looked at that option in APM?

Check out Orion Application Performance Monitor? www.solarwinds.com/.../index.aspx

Hey Ramazan, We're interested in this area for sure. Can you tell me a little more about what you mean when you say custom application log collection? Do you want to integrate your logs into the real-time feed (i.e. build your own connector/product integration), or do you want to pull in that log data generically and have…

We don't have this capability at present. I'll take it as a feature request.

There's a KB article on these type of "Duplicate Flows" scenarios.

Are Solarwinds going to improve this part of Orion and when, they've now spent a lot of time since v7 improving the DB, frontend and other functionality and not done anything with Map maker or Report writer these to me are as important as the rest of the product and need to be brought up to date with the rest of the…

Could you to a CSV file, and then somehow import the credential names in the custom property field. For example, create field "WinCred" and populate it with the results of your query

It is a known bug, We are working on a fix, but we don't know how we will package that fix.

Hey there, Generally the LEM storage (database/logs) is self-maintaining - the database won't ever fill the disk to 100% in normal circumstances, it will purge the oldest data to keep your data storage below about 90%. There are occasional cases where large floods of data can create an out of disk scenario, but this is…
