I can sympathize. I cringe every time I have to do an upgrade. It rarely goes smoothly and I also sometimes have to open a support ticket to get it fixed. It has been getting better lately though.

do i understand it right that VMware MIB fixes are due in the next NPM service pack? that is, where i can see LUN volumes, disk info, .etc? These are not "fixes". Monitoring LUNs, etc. would constitute a feature because we've never provided that functionality. Expanding the vmware features is something we're considering.

 that should hide it. Can you provide more detail? a screenshot? If this is configured right and still shows, it's a bug.

i have heard that windows 2008 is good at locking down WIM to single port,b ut i have not tested. i woudl say that windows 2003 or earlier and you do not have a chance with WMI

When you look at an unmanaged device, the icon for that device is no longer a green dot. It's a blue dot with a white x through it. It should appear that way everywhere in the UI.
