FYI. We are working on some new ways to group objects--not just interfaces--within Orion. It's taking a little while, but when it's done, it should prove a powerful addition to allow you to do the sort of thing you're looking at. More than that I can't say just yet.

It's not possible at this time, but making the charts more customizable is something we intend to add.

Hate to bring up an old topic, but I cant seem to find an answer anywhere. Is Orion Multithreaded yet? The vast majority of Orion is already multi-threaded. The NPM service is still single-threaded, but we've offloaded quite a bit of the work to other services that are multi-threaded.

Hello all, I found the NCM.Nodes table, had SWQL Generate a Select Statement for me (connected as v3), and tried to run it and got an exception it seems to me that I shouldn't have gotten. 2014-05-23 20:01:40,083 [283] ERROR SolarWinds.InformationService.Core.InformationService - Exception caught in method RunQuery…

Thanks for writing back. I did a walk on it and noted the inlet and outlet temp at the time. I'm going through with ctrl+f and searching for those numbers, but I'm not sure that's the best way. I tried looking for something called inlet or outlet. There was a few entries called "temperature" but they were referring to the…

I haven't tried this method. How would I go about getting the product ID?
-
Thanks! That did the trick.

Yes , the gatways in the network are blocking innound ttl exceeded message

Default status polling for nodes and interfaces is 120 sec. Default statistics polling for nodes is 10 min. Default statistics polling for interfaces is 9 min.

I tried to get this setup, per the documentation, and have not found any success. In addition to executing the following action: "E:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Configuration Management\ConfigAutoDownload.exe" ${IP} I have a secondary action to log to a file, to make sure my syslog rule is firing. My log file exists, as…

I'm just getting started with the API v1.5 but I'm not seeing any documentation about assigning applications to nodes. Let me know if I'm just missing it.

Hi Peter: Thank you for the follow up. I was curious about certification as a way to boost the portfolio of services I can provide my clients. I'm currently doing independent contract work within the ITSM / Service Desk space. My background is process heavy and I would like to expand my knowledge in the tool arena to round…

Please provide an e-mail address or drop location so I can send the full page image. Rick

Yes, I can e-mail you a larger graphic that I took earlier, but I can't post it in a public area. Rick

When you log into the router what does it say?

RoyalIEF. I've experienced this with CISCO gear for over a decade and the reason I stated is why. You might be able to google up some very old discussions on it. I had the same question when I was writing code and would get these results. We get the same above line rate spikes in other products (Netscout PM, OpsManager,…

Wonderful thank you so much for your time and help! I will be poking around with our configuration then . Thanks for the help, it is much appreciated.

Well, I misread your post. This is something different. If you're trying to import, can you specify which template (URL) and which version of APM you're using?
-
TGhosh, I've looked at all of your cases. If you are getting alerts when an application goes "unknown", you might try reconfiguring the alert to fire only when an app is actually "down" rather than "not up". You could also disable only those alerts that are causing problems. Disabling the whole engine seems like an extreme…

Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure I understand. When we load the wsdl into SAM it needs to login to SAP and be authenticated. It's an http connection to sap to login get system info and exit. Even if I put the wsdl in a browser I get prompted by the SAP application to login. I'm not sure how I could get past that or…

Hi Butch, Thanks for the reply, I appreciate I may be sounding terminally stupid but could you give me some more detail on how to create the Triggered Alert? I presume it's an Advanced Alert but I can't see an option for a "past 24 hour" report etc. Any more pointers you ca give me will be gratefully accepted. : )

My bad, it's NPM v 10.
-
Yeah that market is HUGE for those solutions :-) please spend time on that more than SIP/H3.23 KIDDING!
-
You can go into the database (using Orion Database Manager) and delete those rows from the AlertStatus table.
-
Yep. What he said.

Ok that confirms what I thought but I am not sure as to why there is so much traffic between these 2 sites and not the others (with more nodes). I am not sure how to see how frequent but it is usually either the top 1 or top 2 user of my network according to NetFlow per hour.

Thanks for the reply. We use a wide range of Cisco products. 2960/3560/3750/4500/6500 series switches, 7600/2900/2800/800 series routers and it doesn't seem to pick picking up any sensors. When you go to a Cisco node and 'List Resources' it picks up the Hardware Health monitor as a selectable resource for Cisco products…

I am using NPM 10.3. How can i configure power/temperature/fan alert in this version using UNDP??? Kindly tell me the whole procedure.
-
Yes, it was a config issue on our home firewall blocking the pings from the Orion server. Thanks!
