Yes, we support polling of custom MIBs. I think you'll be more successful with Orion 8.5.1, which is the current version. A couple of resources for getting going with this: www.solarwinds.com/.../OrionCustomPollerSetup.html www.solarwinds.com/.../wwhelp.htm

My admin account did not work. Our AD people don't understand how giving access to the Event log will populate the AD information about each node. Rick

yes except for modify and full control. Furthermore. looks like we are also unable to nest maps.

Upgrade NPM first. Denny, We are running 8.5.1 and planning to upgrade to 9.1 and APM 2.0 SP2 soon. We are running both APM1.0 and AM. We have converted all AM monitoring to APM. Do you advise we upgrade NPM to 9.1 first or uninstall AM first? I've read in another thread upgrading to 9.0 caused problems when trying…

Peter Thanks for the post. I tried shutting down the services you specified in the order you recommended. I then tried to scan one of the subnets I manually added to IPAM but it still failed. I then checked the log file you recommended and this is what was showing in the log file with "exception" 2009-09-13 09:48:30,265…

Hi Tom, Thanks for your quick reply. I test the added properties you provide to me and it is working well. AS it was not published into the api, i didn't add it. For the first point, do you now when the feature will be available on the new version of the API? Does the ressource discovery use snmp information to get the…

Thanks to everyone for this query! This has been extremely helpful in finding this issue.

this is brilliant stuff! thank you so much.. if i get as good response from my posts around Cacti and Big-brother, then i am ready to rock!!!! I will get some of this tested ASAP and see how i get on. thank you again!

You should probably get a Sales Engineer involved to take a look at the bandwidth issue. That sounds like a configuration problem. The slowness seems straightforward. Even in your eval, you are monitoring a lot of interfaces. But you are running on SQL Express on the same server. SQL Express is limited to 1 CPU and 1GB of…

@mlinton: Thaks a lot! It works

As the topic states, I need to change the interval per node/interface/volume etc, not the default interval. The only way this is possible appears to be editing the field directly via the database, which unfortunately will mean a NPM restart. For those curious, each node/interface/volume table has a RediscoveryInterval…

Hello Petr, thx for the comment. I will contact the Solarwinds Support Juergen

We have spoken to VMware about this very issue several times. Unless they expose the APIs for us to manage their switch, there is little we can do. They announced their strategic approach at VMworld 2008. They intend to allow vendors to create their own virtual switches. And Cisco has first to announce a virtual switch for…
-
Unless I'm confusing what you're saying, that is for discovering new nodes? Just to clarify, we have the nodes in our database, we just want to change the 'rediscovery' (when it goes off and scans for interface re-indexing and such) to a different value than the default for specific nodes/interfaces. Andy.

We are not monitoring the virtual switches. Should we? I don't know. Should you?
-
the VM switches are generally dumb. They aren't configurable (like a physical switch), aren't manageable, they don't pass STP, etc True, but don't worry about the how. I have never experienced an issue with the virtual switches That's a good data point. but I have not purposely tried to break it either Do you usually try…

Before we upgraded to the latest version we used to be able to use Inline CSS and the text-decoration:underline property, but that doesn't appear to work any more.

What would be the Best way of doing this then?

nice steve... that did it. thanks

Hello silverbacksays, Thank you for your response! I truly appreciate it. However, I have tried other things besides email and nothing seems to be getting through. As a test, I tried putting in a really simple condition just to narrow the problem: Condition: IP address is equal to <ip address of node> and I set the trigger…

Can you post your report query and I will see what I can work out....

Nice ty! is there a way to make it different for each node and not the same each time a view is opened? Ex. you have a router, switch and AP at 3 different locations, Atlanta, New York, and Chicago. When I view node details for any of this equipment at Atlanta for example I'm trying to link a network drawing in sharepoint…

yeah, the test still returns "2". I tried removing the component and then adding it again. All i modified was the command line but it's still returns "2" and the same 2 messages perl ${SCRIPT} "/opt/eftmonitoring/logs/eftMonitoring.log" "ERROR"

Yeah, effectively, it's just really helpful to have an example to start from, otherwise you kind of feel "chicken and egg" on what you're doing. As you learn the taxonomy you can begin to figure out how events get normalized in a pretty standard way, but there's still 300 of them to choose from, plus all of their fields.…

Bingo! bluefenemental you nailed it. Report Grouping is set to Nodes.Modal (custom property). With grouping specified, it throws the sort error in Report Writer only. If I remove grouping, the report executes fine in RW but I don't get the report in the order I need. Any thoughts how to get around the grouping issue in RW?…
-
I've got the same issue just upgraded to 4.0.3 from 4.0.1. I have a support case open but no feedback yet.
-
Thanks Leon for the simplifying the SQL query. bluefenemental pinpointed the issue. The report does have Report Grouping set to the custom property Nodes.Modal which I missed and failed to mention. With grouping specified, it throws the sort error in RW. If I remove it, the report executes fine in RW but I don't get the…

Also it would be really cool if you could have the ability to project future trends. The graphs could say (and notify in an alert) that a volume will run out of space in X number of days.
