Hi Kevin, I already obtain a trial serial key from sw tech support. Now, I've a new problem on test server: I install NPM 9.1 sp5 (like my operational server) but when I open System Manager Console I can't view any nodes. I re-run configuration wizards without success. What can I do? Thanks smn80

" Orion Network Performance Monitor SLX is a comprehensive, highly scalable, web-enabled fault, bandwidth and performance management platform that gives you broad visibility across your network by monitoring an unlimited number of network elements." Do we really say that there's a max of 10,000 somewhere? That's incorrect.…

For those internally following - Case #26904 I haven't been able to reproduce the problem on our Lab server of Orion - which is identicle as our production server 8.5.1. This leads me to believe that it is something specific in the Production version. Scenarios: 1. Trap Sender (CCM) -> Production Orion *** problem was…

Thanks, further on from this our operations guys are blaming network bandwidth congestions on the amount of data being sent from agents to the LEM Appliance. 1. Does the LEM agent send the complete log data to LEM? 2. Or does the agent just send the data what I have configured in the LEM Policy?

I used the normal report writer interface to select "last month" for the window, so I think that is causing this SQL output to show a weird formula. I like doing it that way because I can just schedule a single report to run on the 1st of every month. It's beginning to sound like that isn't going to be an option if I want…

Hi denny, thanks for the reply. i uspect though that the only diference in the processes, is the owner... the root user ownes the parent process, and the children are forked from it, so the parent process ID of the childred is the PID of the parent... an so on...

Can you please give me the snapshots of this whole process so that i can understand easily. Thanks in advance.

Hi Rob, Very thanks for your response. I had gone through that link. But that specified information we had already implemented. Let me clear my scenario more briefly. Let us suppose if parent went down .. for example Firewall. In that case what will happen, we will get bunch of emails showing that firewall is down, and…

Hi psellittosw, Would you please post here the ticket number? Thanks!
-
Thanks for the post - this documentation really helped explain it better. I could not seem to locate this either online or in the included docs... I finally got it to work on one site but when I tried another site I got an error. The form name is included here: <body> <Form name="mainPageForm" method="post"…

Okay, I've been talking to my friend at Microsoft the one that gave me the information above previously about Multiplexing. He pointed me here : The Multiplexing Trap You already know that most Microsoft server products require Client Access Licenses (CALs), which comprise a majority of total licensing costs for those…

Hi Deltona We just have one polling engine. That is probably the issue. I know I can't discover Interface(s) on Node(s) that aren't added yet. Hmmmmm. Okay, I've gone back through my code and realized my mistake. I'm trying to use some of the data I get from the DiscoverInterfacesOnNode call to add poller(s) to the interfaces on each given node when what I need to…

Thanks for the offer. My idea was to use application polling engine to just launch the script and not do anything else. This way I hope I can get more realistic outputs about the transfer speed between different servers.
-
Yes I did got this error when creating new template and while at "edit script" I tried to get the test output. I'm not sure whether there is somekind of different test section where I would get better output or better error message. That user is in the admin group of both hosts which are being used by this script so that…

Do the two products share Custom properties now ? meaning if you change a custom property in NPM does that filter onto NCM. Yes they now share custom properties. * It is no longer possible to add new custom properties to NCM without adding it to Orion * It is no longer possible to add new or edit custom properties using…

Did you ever figure out how to make the decimal show? The Truncate(${Statistic},1) does not work. We tried it several different ways, to no avail. Tainã Rodrigues
-
We don't know Snare, I'm afraid. We do, however, have our own Windows Event Forwarder that converts event logs to Syslog. Have you tried that?
-
Has reoccuring downtime been fixed in release 10?

Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Invalid object name 'Events'. Here is the error message that appeared in SQL Studio.
-
We are setting up a SQL Studio test server now to see what we get back. One of our programmers in devops seems to think that the error occured when we changed the outageduration in minutes variable. Not coming from a SQL background, it's been a learning experience haha.

Can you tell us what exactly you'd like to see in Orion w/r/t to ESX? The more detail, the better.
-
We're going introduce a wizard for easily exploring things to monitor on a server and adding those as applications within APM.
-
What the Orion products need is a data warehouse process that generates all the graphs and charts you want on a daily basis at maximum granularity and then store those charts as static content with a portal to the content all nice and intuitively organized.
-
Here you go. I would like to be able to open the linked report in a new window/tab when you click on any Polling Engine within the report. Report from Report Writer resource
-
To add to that, when you enable session tracing you must go to the poller managing the device and pull the session from that poller. If you are only using one polling server, then that makes it easier.
-
Agreed, we would start down the "5 Why's" path. Not sure there is any other effective way to look at it.
-
The part I don't understand is why do I basically have 2 different support mechanisms for Orion? I called in for several problems and have to hang up and call Customer Support to reset the license. You need to have all support options at the same call. My average time to get into Customer Support the last several days has…

We will take a look at SEUM, although as I stated in my post, we are thinking a bit more on the "economical" side, at least to start. I found some OpenSource software that comes close to what we want. If it doesn't do the job, I'll download the trial of SEUM and kick the tires. ...
