Thanks aLTeReGo... However I'm not sure how this will work. I need to add a filter somewhere for the Group, when I do this I get an error message, see below as obviously this information doesn't exists in the DB. I can't find a Node property which identifies it is in a Group and hence add a filter.. Any other suggestions…

I'm using advanced alerts. Because of the way the Time of Day works I have 3 alerts for a down site. Business Hours, AfterHours-WeekDay, and AfterHours-WeekEnd. This is so that during the business hours the alerts go to our service desk, and after-hours they go to an answering service. The problem this creates is that if a…

I'd have thought that was the case as well. However, that doesn't seem to be the case. I do have these cache timeout settings in my Cisco interfaces' but they're not helping. Also, I discovered that if I change the chart to "Line charts" for Conversations, Applications and Endpoints, they showed up with the correct values.…

Thanks for the tip smargh! It took us a little while to work out the right alert conditions for the triggerquery but we have it working now. Works great!

I have tried for many days to use the GUI, but to no avail....... it looks like custom SQL queries are the way to go.

SELECT CustomPollerStatusTable.CustomPollerAssignmentID, CustomPollerStatusTable.CompressedRowID, CustomPollerStatusTable.FullLabel FROM CustomPollerStatusTable where custompollerassignmentid = 'e9XXXX2f-0488-4XX4-9XX7-ca3eXXXXX2bb' and rowid = '20' But I just found out that it does not return what I thought. If I change…

Thanks Jonathan that did the trick. We actually had 2 websites in there. 1 as Primary (default website) and 2 as a secondary (Orion). I tried changing the ID of the websites in IIS but that didn't work so I just removed the default website entry from the DB and changed the secondary to Primary and that worked. Updates /…

Thanks alot, it really was as easy as I thought. Nice thing

Hey nirav1892, These are the OIDs I am using. These return a table of 3 columns (processor, IO & driver text) which is expected and what is returned when running sh mem on the device. I sum each of the columns in the respective MIB output and then total both together to give me the grand total. The issue is that the total…

Full AD authentication is coming for NPM. It's a little trickier because we don't want to take away the SQL-based authentication because there are users who could not use AD.

I suppose so.. but what if I want to continue monitoring a server as a normal node? I assume I'll lose all historical data by removing it as a Node too? It just seems strange you can't remove it straight from VMAN...

This this not be 10% and not 90%? I would expect 90% to happen with one success and 9 failures? 9 success and 1 failure ping = 100 * 1 / 10 = 90% packet loss
-
thanks for the reply. Now I have good understanding of % packet loss. But in my case, Orion app was not restarted. my chart is set to show every minute. my device polling is also every minute. the minute prior to my 50% packet loss, it shows 0% packet loss, the minute after, it shows 0%. Based on your description of packet…

Hi Christine, I am still interested in SOAP... see : So I hope, as well as Erik, that you further develop this for IPMonitor version 10!

To Add a filter to resource, click on Edit, then add the desired filter.
-
In all seriousness, we'll put that list together soon. We're close, but there are still a couple of items that are on the bubble.
-
Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping there might be a way to accomplish this through advanced alerting with NPM. If there are no other options i can consider this though.

I tried that but Cisco documentation shows "In addition, SNMP counters are never cleared, even if the interfaces are cleared." from: SNMP Counters: Frequently Asked Questions [IP Application Services] - Cisco Systems

Thanks, That's my problem - i can see the following: So i'm assuming that the monitor that is critical is DB File and Transaction Logs. But I can see no way to find out which of the various checks under this group of counters are critical. Probably just my not being familiar but SCOM would always tell me which counter was…

Craig; Thank you for the clarification. Any merit in considering this functionality in the future? bwp

Hi Sam, The SAM is version 6.1.1 build #6 Kris

Thanks, what about the custom alerts we have?

Hi DanielleH, All products solarwinds and partnership level. Regards, Camel TALLA TCHITCHI

I'd prefer to get the alert the second the trap goes out and not wait for Solar to find it. Plus, if the interface just bounced and solarwinds polled it and saw it up, the alarm wouldn't trigger correct? I'm really tryign to figure out a template to use for all alarms (ospf, bgp, etc) but the Interface alarm seemed like…

Shouldn't these be a percentage of the actual data being processed over the interface instead of a an absolute numerical value? Carrier's use a percent value in their SLA. I can't tell if they are within SLA parameters if I can't set the value to match the provider. Since NPM already collects the packets/bytes processed…

Just for reference, the last time an alert should have been triggered was for a downed APC UPS at 7:30 AM.

Thanks Josh for your reply.

Could you post the screenshots to Thwack? I don't mind exchanging email with you, but I know the rest of the community is interested, and would be better served by keeping the conversation out here rather than taking it offline.
