I'm having a similar problem and I have followed the steps provided in the WMI Ping link and this post. I wrote a script to restart a service and passing in the ${Nodename} into the VBScript. Here is my script (note - I removed the login info):

Dim strComputer Dim strCredentials, strUser,…

Been trying to convince them NTA has some issues. Management isn't happy when they see stuff like this Guess what's happening now in terms if keeping maintenance.

I upgraded yesterday from 8.1 to 8.5 and all went smoothly as well.

There is no recommendation against it. The only decision point is yours: Are these data valuable enough for the extra effort to migrate the database? That's your call.

in response to the last comment about managing the addition and removal of applications on a large number of hosts at once, I have to say APM is spot on for this. If you use a template for monitoring then you can add a new process to be monitored to the template and this will push it out to all the devices that use the…

Under admin settings through the web interface, make sure you have session tracing enabled: http://<yourorionserver>/Orion/NCM/Admin/Settings/ConfigChangeSettings.aspx This is tucked away under config settings under real time change detection. Then go to the poller of the device, and under: Program Files…

I forgot to mention the error. I receive this error in the report; Failed to determine hostname - timeout

No problemo, let me move this over to the SAM forum and hopefully someone will help you there

Here try this script... It will tally all the queues together and report back a number.. for example 350, and then set thresholds within the component and then create an alert to notify you when it gets to high.. Here is the vbscript. Dim SumMessages strComputer = wscript.arguments(0) strUser = wscript.arguments(1)…

I use the Alert Suppression field while (Maintenance = Yes) { suppress, node down, node reboot, and high packet loss; }

In the next version, you'll be able to add volumes via Discovery, which should make this task a lot easier.

Is there a template for Linux servers?

Using this NCM 7.2.1 Jobs feature requires that the local file path be the same for all Polling Engines. This becomes a problem when the Polling Engines are on separate environments with IP Addresses associated to security boundaries. So, this will not work for me as I need a single report representing all the…

i have not been back into re-download... i had to just download the big files, extract locally and then upload the required files to the servers. these were the least of the worries in the end, the upgrade procedure was again a complete disaster but it is over now...

Denny/Solarwinds, is this feature already on the requested features list? I have seen that SNMP tables support is upcoming and just wanted to make sure that this feature was on the list too. Yep. We're hoping to get it into the next release, but, as always, I make no promises. Things get cut, but it a very high priority.

There's a link in the KB - here: http://downloads.solarwinds.com/solarwinds/Release/LEM/SolarWinds-LEM-Connectors.zip

The latter.

Hey carlton.patterson@matthey.com, Once an idea is in What We're Working On stage, you can no longer vote on it.
-
Thanks, I'll get this request in and follow up here when I have any info.
-
I'll leave it to the other customers to comment on impact in a real-world environment.

The part about the "unmanaged" line is really weird because we definitely didn't touch that part of the code. So we can't figure out where that could come from.
-
Yes, any time the System Manager is opened, it will have a negative impact on polling because they are using the same thread. If your server is right on the edge, then opening SM can push it over the edge. Web-based node management gets around the problem because it is not using the same thread as the poller.

After waiting a night, the gaps are still there to some degree and I don't think it's the ADQL on the SQL server. At either 5/10/15min I see the same issue across all charts - spotty gaps.
-
yeah...blackberry sent me a kb with where to find their MIB file. But gave no answer as it is a third party app. I'll find the kb..might have been posted recently on the bes 5.03 thwack feed/forum.

There's two elements to the secret decoder ring here - the connectors, which normalize data (categorize and parse into fields), then the alert taxonomy itself. We've heard this is a really common topic where people get "stuck" with LEM. If we were to cover it in a blog post, video, or other medium, what questions would be…

Hi Thanks, I only say this as my config backup file is 150MB in size and it would be good to have a rotation policy for logfiles as a whole in the Orion suite of tools. So the ability to set size limits and number of archived copies, before deleting the old ones. James

2. Tuned interface. Creating maps, quickly, is nearly impossible. The interface is very mouse-orient (very few, obvious, keyboard shortcuts). Simple enhancement would be to make it possible to persistently use the line-tool (for connecting more than two elements at a time) You can do this today. Select the line tool. Go to…

How many messages are you showing? By default, we only show 250, but you can make it even smaller. Did you maybe make it bigger?
-
Thanks! I feel much better now. Are there any future enhancements using IPSLA operations on the roadmap that might require enabling source-routing?
-
You're not evaluating anything. That message shouldn't be there for you. I was just trying (not very effectively) to explain why it's in the code at all. It's a bug.
