Thanks; I was testing this just as you replied. You are correct, thanks!

What regional settings are being used? I'm guessing they are not en-us?

Hi Jeff Nice tool, I ran it and it came back with and stated under layer 2 that the endpoint discovery was not successful. I have captured a log file as well, would you mind having a look Kind Regards James

Yes, I have lots of information from my firewall in LEM. All of my filters for my firewall work great except for the filter for the ASA-4-113019. I had been using this syslog message to build VPN reports in my old MARS appliance since it includes username, connected IP, bytes transferred and duration.

I created a new view called 'User Experience' and am using these filters for the 'Top XX Components by Response Time'.

the report scheduler will not display the raw data you want because that is in Excel format in which the RS is unable to display via email- Mark, I'm puzzled by this comment but I'm coming to believe it is true. I've been working with Support on creating Excel reports with RS (open case 46178) and have been told that…

Great news, thanks. Regarding EC2, we don't have an account today, but that sounds interesting. I took a look at their pricing model. It appears they have a free tier with 750 hours of EC2 running Microsoft Windows Server Micro instance usage (per month). Do you have any cloud instances running this app? I'm wondering if…

sure, we have all kinds of profiler licenses. but it doesn't integrate into NPM and its alerting system right? thanks for the tip.

In the past, I've also seen these where multiple people were logged on to the box(via RDP) using Orion. While you may have shut down everything in your session, someone is still using System Manager in a different one, preventing us from upgrading it. Just something to keep an eye on. We'll make sure we try to handle this…

Thanks! I found it!

Just setting the value to 'No' on that page doesn't do what you'd expect. Set it to yes and uncheck the values. Also, if you just want to remove the column from table on the resource, click the 'Edit' button on the resource. It will let you select which pollers you want to show. Removing the "original" poller name from the…

That is my next step. Unhappily today seems to be DB's take a break day. I'm hoping to get an emergency move done today/tomorrow. I'm actually surprized to find how many folks were using Orion. I had given a dog-n-pony a few months ago and a lot of people were using it for daily availability checking, nic/cpu utilization…

APM 2.0 will have script monitors that will allow you to collect data from Linux and Unix machines use of SNMP. You'll just need an SSH connection. We will provide some scripts out of the box. You will also be able to leverage Nagios scripts, which should give you a substantial library to choose from.

Thanks Matt. That's what I figured. i.e, do not run the bulk packaged additional poller installer if you have applied hotfixes and only use the additional poller installer specific for the new module.

I used the latest version of Net-SNMP and SNMP Informant (better performance counters for disk usage and memory usage). Configuring the snmpd.conf file can be tricky but I was able to get a user with authentication and encryption to work.

I like the idea of integrating policy checking (and remediation) during the process of adding a new device (manual, discovery...). So you know that any device you add is basically clean from a compliance standpoint. Definitely +1 here. This would be great to be able to do this.

Bump! Can anyone help with this? Really need to get this working.

Hi Richard, I ran it from command line and get the error notification failed: 401 - Application not registered. That was what I was thinking about before. I can see the /r handle to register the application but I don't know what I should do to register it. From the command line I can't get it working. the only other result…

I cannot contact the OP because I'm not his friend on the forums. So unfortunately we just have to hope he comes back.and does his tutorial. This is the only forum I know that doesn't allow PMs to be sent between users by default.

Firefox 4 but the problem also exists in the native application on the server.

APM had a Windows Event log monitor that will look for Windows events. It returns the number of events with a target ID. I'm also curious: In what way is the Windows Event Log Forwarder "messy"? Is it because you have to install a service on a each device? Do you just not want to send that much data to the Orion syslog?

It's in the release notes, which we post on Thwack with the announcement and which is included in the zip file with the SP itself. Of course, we list quite a few things in those notes, and it's easy to miss any given item. - The Alerting Engine service is now disabled by default on the Hot Standby, Additional Website and…

Yes. That's part of the new Universal Device Poller, which is a replacement for the Custom MIB poller.

This document seems to be dead. Is there an updated link? On another note MCBRIDEA indicates in this post: that L2 flows will be dropped. Is L2 netflow supported in Orion? Nope(unless something has changed). That's MAC Accounting vs IP Accounting.

one graph that will really help you make sense of this is the Min/Max Average response time. then you can see for a given time period how good/bad and the sometiimes ugly average and why it is like that. It gets really good when you give it a time period of one hour and then ask for 5 min intervals So even though you got a…

We look at 10 response times over the last 20 minutes. There are a number of complications that could be involved depending on whether any pings are missed.

The simple response is that we look at 10 response times over the last 20 minutes. There are a number of complications that could be involved depending on whether any pings are missed.

If anyone is still watching this thread..... I just got what is essentally hotfix 5a from Solarwinds support. It's an additional dll, a new Mapmaker.exe and a bat file to register the new DLL (and the obligatory readme) I'm glad to report that approximately 95 maps and 500+ objects loaded in less than 2 seconds. I'm not…
