Hey Guys I've been searching again for a while but haven't been able to find a solution, could anyone give me another push in the right direction please? I've read post from other people that they use the same oid as from the hp servers. I've tried this but with no success. Should I use this oid on the ip of the msa or…

We plan on separating the database and the polling on two different servers. Is that possible with 10? Do I need to have SQL installed on the polling server as well?

And here I was thinking Santa does not exist!

Yeah, the flux capacitor is detected from the logs, so they are both caused by the same problem. I would suggest sending this thread over to support and see what the best way to help you is. There are some options, but they can help dig in.

All sorted!!! I noticed the Views by Device Type option so I can configure everything I need within there. At last I have everything set up perfectly! As always, many thanks for your help. Graham

Good info. How would you incorporate that into a package then?

Does that happen with any other browser?

Are you running NPM 9.1? If so, this bug should be fixed.

just so you know where i am coming from... if you take a look at the CA E-Health functionality, they basically record all performance DATA (much like Orion) but e-health can be told to either alert when a metric breaches a configured threshold, or breaches the expected level for that time.... so for example, throughput…

Bryan, I think Josh mis-spoke. The Account Manager functionality is now built in. We don't plan to ship a v8 version of that component. Denny

No offense, but I will believe it when I see it. The next version of EOC includes a complete re-write of the mapping tool. I suspect it will have some new issues (which we will address as they are identified), but it's unlikely to have the same issues. The new mapping tool was created to deal with the kinds of issues…

Hey Tim, What if I want to set two or more custom properties at a time? I currently have /{"NetDeviceID":"65348180-53b7-4c13-9ce8-68a54e2556d7","OrionInstance":"WEST"}/ but apparently the resulting string is a Node Uri as if I'd just done a Create rather than a CustomProperties call. Thoughts? Thanks, Scott

One more thing, this post has 4,119 Views. That doesn't mean much for the repeat visitors but it mean something. As this goes on, with the little staff we have in our team, we are dependant on the full featured set of an NMS to monitor the large number of devices we manage. Solarwinds NPM is still up for review this August…

APM will be releasing shortly, and SNMP won't be a big deal anymore.

Hi Denny, when you say not in orion9 but coming, does that mean a small upgrade such as v9.5, if so any idea as to when it will be released? Dave

No. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm the first Cajun (and last) to use the word. I just googled it, and it's from the British Isles. I probably picked it up from some Irish or English writer.

I need to import my devices and their setting first. How do I do that? Both servers are on NCM 6.1 Rick

Old system: I'd copy a map with 48 interfaces from a switch "blade" and name it the next blade number in line. I'd then right click on the interface icons and select "object properties" and select the "network objects '...'" button to change what object was being referenced. THIS IS THE CHANGE...in 8.1, the object list…

I am not holding my breath. Pointed this out to support last fall and posted here in December. Best I got was " here is something you might be able to modify up". Good luck . . . . Thanks, really helpful! I appreciate that it's frustrating when you ask for a feature and it isn't delivered right away. Especially when it…

That works, but it seems a little redundant. Thanks!

I am really jazzed about this.. I just posted a bunch of feature requests for Orions existing syslog service.. I guess i can nix it.

The firewall reporting the shun should be the DetectionIP field. If you look at the events in the LEM console, you should be able to tell if it's the IP or name of the device being reported. (You could potentially use the ToolAlias field and look for something like Cisco* if you wanted to look for ALL firewalls.)

What do you think? Should we show multiple cores by default?

I don't see where to specify sort order in Policy Reporter. We are running 6.1. Is this possible in 6.1?

Thank for answer. How can I see all tables of NPM database to create Query like one you wrote?

I have still same issue to install IPAM 4.2 on NPM Server (there is only NPM on this server) I have NPM in release 11.x. I tried to update NPM. I received the message "Your Orion is up to date". What can I do more to install IPAM? Thanks for your reply

The Rate is what I need to Alert on

What's the best practice for reindexing NPM databases? Our engineering team noted that data moves through the NetFlowDetail tables very quickly, so it's not clear whether reindexing has much value. The suggestion was maybe to tweak your scripts to exclude any table taht starts with "NetFlowDetail_"

I believe the swtich software is current. I had to update once right after installing, but 3Com downloads lists that same version from April, 2009. I did an snmpwalk to a text file, I can't say I undestand it all, but it lists out all sorts of info - here's some sample stuff: iso.0.8802.1.1.2.1.3.8.1.6.1.4.63.171.86.157 =…
