A fix for this will be coming in a service pack for Orion 9.1.

OK, we figured it out! It was an idiot admin (me) issue. We had 2 problems right from the get go. 1 - I saved the config name with the wrong oid, that added fluff to the connection attempt 2- These Avayas (or Nortel / Synoptics) did not like our local switch username. Once we changed it to an authtenicated TACACs test…

Tim- Thanks again for your help!! I've been working with one of our web developers and learning some .NET...I must say it's MUCH nicer and easier to use once you know what you're doing. I will now be converting all of the old custom resources. Oh yea...and they're all in VB!!!

This is still under evaluation so I don't have a valid maintenance contract. How do I progress this then? If it doesn't work then it wont pass evaluation...

They are possibly false positives, or it was minor things like not being able to remove directories because files were in use. Sometimes a log file is left on your desktop or in the root of the C: drive that describes the issue. As long as the agent service was removed, the agent will no longer run.

Tried Top20 but all nodes still show for the same group (CHART). My objective is for the report to show the Top10 routers for each group specified in the "Modal" custom property (i.e., CHART, MAA, MTA, etc.).

There's nothing specific that we've done, but in general, 32-bit apps run better on a 64-bit Windows, and Orion will receive that same benefit.
-
It does indeed :) Unfortunately it only shows manual IP edits to individual addresses. I tried to create a test Subnet and Supernet and this was not picked up in the report, can I edit it somehow to pickup when new Super/Sub nets are created? Thanks :)

Thank Goodness some one else was seeing this. I just haven't gotten around to opening a ticket on it. Needless to say I am seeing this as well but I thought it was related to the DST change as I started to see it shortly there after. Anxious to see a resolution.

I wish I could just make it so, but I can't. Graphs in reports is a big effort. We'll get there, but it's not the next thing in the queue.

Hi Denny, when you say not in orion9 but coming, does that mean a small upgrade such as v9.5, if so any idea as to when it will be released? Dave So what can I say with confidence? Yes, there will be a release after 9.0. It will have cool features that many users will be delighted to see. It will arrive at some time later…

Denny...we've discussed this in another thread ). But I need the ability to customize the SNMP trap option with custom information. I can do this in Basic Alerts but not Advanced. BB Yes, I have that one captured already.
-
Thanks for responding LGarvin! ORDER BY CAST(CustomPollerStatus.Status as date) ASC also throws the same error "SQL error: Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string.".

By default, NTA monitors many applications (and an application is defined by a port and a protocol), but it doesn't monitor every application. It is possible that you have an unmonitored application that is generating a nontrivial amount of traffic. Or, as Joel suggests, your NetFlow export could be filtered so that it's…

But the routing was no issue...... I really do not understand......
-
It seems that we already created the SNMP monitor. We just don't understand the alerting, I guess..... If we created the custom SNMP monitor, how would we then configure the alert for that custom template? I couldn't figure out the syslog rule. I've never looked at it before today.

Just do a must contain string for the users you want and also the must not contain advanced regex (?!(blah|blah1)) in the rule. I also recommend splitting rules up for readability vs creating overly complex regex's that require too much thought the next time you look at them (I myself have killed some rules using regex and…

Are there any error messages? Are you trying this in Report Writer and/or as a sql query?
-
Hmm. It's not logging to a file either. Guess I'll open a ticket and see what's up with this thing.

Broken down by type of event to look for... The ESX/ESXi host integration generates these types of events: * Traffic to/from the host - TCP Traffic, Web Traffic, Configuration Traffic (usually stuff like DHCP requests/responses) * Network connections configured on the host - LAN Connection * File access on the host - File…

try this... http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/1175/I+am+receiving+errors+in+the+Orion+Web+Console Just tried that...no change.

Chris - is there anyway to have Cirrus just disregard the banner so I can get the full config? I'm really trying to look for a workaround.
-
Yes, this is still an issue for us as well. Did you hear back on that high priority vmware case?
-
We do test the release, and we ran a beta for many weeks. But what we always find is that there are so many variations in customer environments that some issues are always missed. We expect to release a service pack quickly to address those issues.

Hello- Thanks, this answers a lot! I appreciate it. One more question: Has anyone here used the original Orion server and the AWS to setup a load-balanced situation with an F5? Also: Is it ok to have the AWS as a virtual instance while still keeping the Orion server as a physical? Thanks! Mike B.

Silly though it might seem, this behavior is a side-effect of adding the ability to schedule a time to go unmanaged, which was a widely-requested feature.

We will work on the SNMP v3 problem and see whether there are other good solutions beyond net-SNMP. We are not, however, planning to do anytime soon. Nothing against Linux, but part of how we keep our expenses (development, testing, and support) down is by limiting the number of operating systems we support. More OS's…

Thanks for following up on me Well, while you CAN create an alert trigger based on the value from a UDP it does not appear that you can include basic node information like the caption, etc., in the email (or in the trigger, for that matter). The only data you can reference anywhere in the alert rule is what’s included in…

Hello Slaj! Exactly, thats it. Thank you for your help and enjoy your day! -FRA

I have the same issue as rcahill. On our 4402's it appears there is a prompt to "Press Enter to continue Or <Ctl Z> to abort" before it pages through the config. If I add any additional character in the sh run-config line like this: "sh run-config x" it will get me past the first enter prompt, but it wont input anything on…
