Sorry to be a bother but have you had a chance to get the script uploaded. It does not have to be today. Again thank you for all your help.
-
Thank You, yes i will most likely need help setting up the rule to run the script.

you hit the nail right on the head there... removing the custom property editor would be a disaster, but it is available as an app directly from the solarwinds program group, so i would expect it would remain a non-imported tool. i use it like you in that i have to copy one above to make sure i have it formatted right, and…

Its now 2014 ... When will NPM support monitoring multiple contexts of a single device (IP) ? I've just tried with NPM 10.7 and I get the message that I can't add a second managed device with the same IP as an existing device (but with a different SNMPv3 context). It seems to be pointless including support for contexts at…

We know IE6 is a standard in a lot of corporate environments. For folks who can move to a more modern browser, you'll get performance improvements because they have faster javascript and rendering engines. It's safe to say we won't limit what we can do to things that work fast in IE6 and we will constantly suggest moving…

I am adding my 2 cents in. We really need to have this ability as well. We have a large number of "dumb" devices (like DLink Cameras) that just do not handle SNMP, but can answer ICMP. Has someone enabled this ability? Thanks, Mike
-
In essence we need a HasChanged condition, that way you could simply say "has the SystemUpTime changed", since SystemUpTime is polled on all NPM devices that I've come across (and can be verified as being SNMP capable by checking the ObjectSubType). We had to write our own script to work around this, I'll try and dig up…

I can probably help you at least a little, but I'm about to sign off for a couple hours.

Unfortunately, DCs do not allow local accounts, so it won't work in this case. One alternative is to install the Orion Windows Event Forwarder on your DC: It will convert your events into Syslog, and you can create your alerts in the Syslog alert engine instead.

hey thanks for the reply... I have a feeling it is actually doing something on the DB server as I can see one of the cores spiking... but there is no way to know how far it has got through or if it will even complete.... been going for 50 minutes so far on this single step... I can see on the wizard log that netflow has…

Well, I am reporting back in, our workaround worked. We set up a non expiring Domain Account and set up the devices for TACACS authentication, then created a template and corrected the Avaya's. Now all of the devices download running configs. They don't "do" start up configs which brings up a good question. NCM runs…

OK I guess I'm knee deep in this one now. I've made this post with noone commenting of course: I need the ability to do SNMP traps from Advanced Alerts and have *at least* the same information sent as the Basic Alert trap. If we can modify the traps (as I did in my post), sure that's an option I'd like even if it isn't…

hi guys i am getting thsi on around 4 of 100 servers. restart of SNMP solves it sometimes, but i have one server that keeps dying. no events on the server, and it comes back online of its own accord, just to die again after 20 minutes. look at the CPU stats, and there are gaps again and again any ideas? crippling my…

The fact that the database and the Orion server are on the same box will certainly slow performance. A dedicated database server with several GB of memory shold substantially improve performance.

I get where you're coming from, it confuses our engineers all the time. I don't believe as end-users we can do anything about how that variable is formatted. As a workaround if it helps.... I presume you're using a trigger action when you say "sent to our management"? If so, in the email or whatever, use the following…

Did you get any further on the Oracle monitoring - because we just tried enabling the APM Oracle monitoring, and the "available free space" is rather useless, sorry to say. If you set a thereshold on it, what will the alert be worth? It seems to be only a sum of all the bytes available in all tablespaces. And the metric…

Thanks Craig. Much appreciated you help in this.

It's more than a week. Maybe a couple.

Hi Mav, yes, I would like to chat about this offline, how do I get into contact. Kind Regards James

Unfortunately no difference. I am on 9.1 SP3 SLX.
-
So is this going to be a feature release? It's under consideration, but I can't make any promises.
-
Thanks! I will run the configuation wizard and give it a try. For now, my Advanced alerts are working fine. Ray

Richard, My invoke function return nothing, hence it does not add the node to NCM database as it should. I have tried with the updated InformationService.pm but no luck. However, if I try manually add (to NCM) via webUI, the new node get synced fine and i can see the node detail data under node detail page. I have also…

this is superb Roger, thanks for spending the time doing this. I can see the custom poller of the object I select as per your post. Is there a way to have multiple nodes? I'd like to do a blanket query on all my nodes if that's possible, or at least just the cisco ones? thanks Dave
-
You're the first person to point out the difference. Forgive me for suggesting that perhaps they need to change... ;-)
-
Basically you add a Custom Node Property (there is a tool under SolarWinds Orion -> Grouping and Access Control) and call it for example, EmailTo, and then you should be able to put this variable in the Trigger Action Email To: using ${Node.EmailTo} (and make sure in the trigger you check this value is not empty). Then you…

No. 9.1 shipped last week. AD authenticaiton is something we're planning for the next major version.

If the dll we provide doesn't work for you, you should be able to get something from Oracle's website.

I may have something similar and have stopped all advanced alerts. I was getting 1 event every 15secs and it was filling the log up at an amazing rate. Event Type: Error Event Source: AlertingEngine Event Category: None Event ID: 0 Date: 2/1/2008 Time: 4:56:02 PM User: N/A Computer: something cool... Description:…

Did you ever export this? Would love to import it. Have to do just this! Craig
