Here's what I understand: * Your alert will trigger if an interface is Down. * The "unpluggable is not equal to yet" doesn't really add anything. If it's unpluggable, then it can never be "down" * Your reset action will trigger if your interface goes back up * I assume you have some sort of action associated with the Reset…

No. There are some things in Orion that 2008 breaks, so we're making those adjustments post-9.1. We'll have it in the next release. ...and to anticipate the next post, I don't have a date for the next release yet.

Because of the nature of the code, just making them both work was causing instability in both both UIs. It's one of those things where it seems like it should be easy, but it isn't. We've gotten good feedback on the web node management changes in SP4 from customers with many thousands of nodes and tens of thousands of…

I am getting results now. I am always intersted in tools for my toolbox, so if you would like to share. Thanks for your help.

We built this in such a way that you could test it end-to-end without just using your syslog events. That made it a lot easier for us to trigger, and means that you can test it without your events to get the flow down without figuring out how to send syslog messages on-demand, then create a version with your events that…

Wendy D., No worries. We are very much aware that the networking world is moving to the "thin" access points. We are trying to decide which of several responses we might take to this trend. I would hint at which way we're going to go, but I don't know. We're not going to make a definitive decision until after Orion 9.0…

Thanks again Lawrence, that's ok now, once package is approved for a group the DSS download it. I have made all the pre-requisite and now i am able to publish, deploy and install 3rd patch (or full install) by solarwinds/WSUS. The second step is to install the Solarwinds agent on both client.(we choose the agent in order…

So it was working before 8.5 unintentionally, but with 8.5 release, the unintentional functionality was removed. Cool! :) Oh and your training class teaches that you can do this. I understand that the class is given outside of SolarWinds, but they still shouldn't teach something that is not supported. No, it was never…

How can we implement it on linux machine?

Thanks Madhavan, It works for me.

Any word on this yet? I opened a ticket yesterday and was told it is a known issue and they would get back to me when it was fixed. Sounds like it has been a known issue for awhile now. Oddly enough I am getting this issue on 6 of my 6509's, but not on the other 3.

oooh can't wait for the SP... i have had to leave the hot fixes as i can not afford the multiple downtimes, so was hoping for an SP to nail the lot... do we think the app now just needs more RAM? i have all my pollers as 32 bit windows, so 3.5GB is the limit... does anyone get performance increases by going 64 bit windows…

There is a much easier way to see this data... Create a custom view and add the Polling Engine Status, its under Miscellaneous, then add that view to your Admin Menu Bar... Gives you all that info and more for all polling engines on one page. As for what the polling completion statistic represents: I vaguely remember…

Deleting TrafficAnalysis-Website.zip, re-running the CW, and applying HF3 worked. Why not have this file be deleted as part of the hotfix anyway if it is unnecessary?

When will it be available to the rest of us. When I looked today, I see two instances of Orion Application Monitor - v8 Version 8.5 September 2007. Is one of them supposed to be the new APM?

Well done, didn’t realise you were using AD authentication. Enjoy the Software asset inventory is a great help to tracking down ‘non-standard’ software. Hi Rgward, Working on next version of IP SLAM. You will see an update for IP SLA soon. How soon is soon? It's been almost 3 months since the "soon" post and haven't seen an update for the next IPSLA release. It's been 1 year since v3.5.1 was released (11/16/2010). I did see the vNext post but I assume that is for the next…

Ok, thanks Francois. Looking forward to it.

For the node details pages, can you do the following: Detach each resource (by clicking on the name) to see if it's one particular resource that's slowing you down? I'd like to see if it a particular resource on that page that is taking a long time or not. Also, if you look at the view, how many different resources are…

My guess (since I can't see their code!) would be that it is checking for the presence of the VMware guest tools on the OS (either via process check, or via registry entry - which also tells you the name of the hypervisor the guest is running on). Where it stores this information, I do not know :( Andy.

Which means we have the pain of contacting SW`s everytime to get a new key and then deal with the licensing issues for all the different modules that come with it.... Actually, can just download the evals for NPM and your modules. Copy your database, and then upgrade via the evaluations. Your license is never touched. This…

Gotcha.... I checked the spot you mentioned. What do I need to to do now?

For reference in case this wasn't mentioned or for future readers, Windows file auditing is a two step process in that you have to: * Enable the file auditing policy in your Local/Domain Security Policy (as Phil linked) * Enable Auditing in the properties of the file/directories you want to audit By default if you do #1…

Hi PeteF, Did you get a definitive answer from SolarWinds? Or do they suggest a workaround solution? Unfortunately no, I haven't heard from Solarwinds on this matter since my last post :(

Currently I am still configuring my rules and correlations and just add an Infer Alert (beside the SNMP Trap Action) when need to see at least that the correlation is working. And hopefully this bug is resolved very quickly and I just can go on and remove the Infer Alert from my rules and have the configuration working as…

Hi I know this is an old blog, but I have spent some time getting NCM to download a config using the cisco config TRAP. in the IOS you need the below to enable TRAPS for config changes snmp-server enable traps config The below is when someone does a write memory or copy running-config startup-config The key is the…

Rookie, I think we need more info if we're going to suggest next steps. What are the details of the problem? Denny

SCOM module doesn't need an extension, but for the Orion NPM extension, just contact Sales@solarwinds.com.

I don't think the Apache connectors rotate, they follow a single file since that's the structure on Linux. I guess since a day has passed diogenes will know for sure
