ETA is the next major release. While that's probably not a fully satisfactory answer, it has the redeeming quality of being true.

So here is a great example of SWI non-intuitiveness . Here I have details on a interface of my firewall. First thing to note is that I can no longer see any other element in my environment. I must go back by clicking on one of the small links in the upper left corner depending how far I want to go back. In PRTG I never…

Since there's so much interest, I'll certainly give it priority for a future release.

Yeah, trying desperately to get the workaround working, the SWSQL query they cite is "Insert into NodesCustomProperties (NodeID) VALUES ("13")". The SWSQL studio will not attempt it (sad... very disappointing...) presenting an error that it's expecting "SELECT", so the only way to test is with the API... And it takes > 2…

Here's some text from an SNMP faq (from Cisco.com, I believe). It's along the lines of the previous links I posted: Q. The IP-SNMP CPU process on my router spikes to 90 percent (or more). Is this a bug? A. No, this is not a bug. IP-SNMP can take up 90 percent of the CPU on the router when the router is lightly loaded with…

Oh ok then. Yea, I'm getting the same problem on a few 3xT AVPN circuits. Thanks

Again, are you using SP4, because we made a major change in SP4 to improve performance. What are your issues once you're on SP4?

Again, are you using SP4, because we made a bi change there.

SP1 is now available.

I tried downloading the Dashboard but the link didn't work - so I upgraded to Toolset v10 and tried the Studio, which looks to be the same thing. Now when doing the port map via the Studio, it goes all the way through Layer 2 and then Layer 3 and then....nothing. It must be "finished" as the Settings link is usable. I…

rgward, We've looked into your issue, and it's not appropriate to that solution. Folks here are looking into your case. dcl

"some things on the horizon" .... sure .... thats what you tell us since 2008. I am not willing to trust Solwarwinds anymore.
-
I sent an email in to update my existing case with my map error post hotfix. Has anyone applied this hotfix and actually seen an improvement? I guess it may be too soon to tell.
-
No worries. I've been married for a long time, so I'm used to being very sure about something, only to be proved completely wrong.
-
Yes. I got it to work, too. Mea culpa! I'll open a bug to get this to work in 8.5, but I'm not sure how quickly.

If there was an access list on the SNMP function itself it would be represented by a number on the snmp-server command (and in this case, put there by you, which you didn't do). I guess I would next check if there are firewalls and/or routers with ACLs (access-lists) that would be filtering this traffic. You said that ICMP…

Thats ok i understand. Can you say if their are any plans to integrate better options for links between nodes.. hard to explain in words.. but in essence.. if you have a complicated diagram.. direct links between connection points is mostly impossible. Even the automation in some applications helps some.. there is no real…

Can you try this: 1. Click on the title of a resource, which will detach it, opening it up in a separate window or tab 2. Time how long it takes for each resource to open Which resources are on your page? Which resources are the slowest? How slow? How many elements are you polling?

Josh, I did as requested and was able to ping the Exchange server in my test as FQDN and by IP.

Ok if they are both using AD that is great, but I do not have access to my users passwords when setting up their accounts in both NPM or EOC. When we add AD authentication to NPM, you wouldn't need to add passwords for either. AD handles that. You just need to know the AD account. But this doesn't work now because Orion…

try CTRL-F5, which will clear your cache. Then see if it shows up. Denny...CTRL-F5 didn't work. After refresh, still the same. Orion VoIP Monitor v1 1.0 September 2007 Orion Application Monitor - v8 8.5 September 2007

Whoever told you Q3 was making a guess. I haven't released a definitive date. The improved alert suppression is coming after 9.0; it can't yet say when, but since I'm asked about it so frequently, please rest assured that we're going as fast as possible.

Dobbs and I notice that if you add the node using the API, then you cannot update the custom properties. However, if you add the node using the Web GUI, then you can add the CustomProperties without an issue... So I suspect we're missing something, OR... The JSON Rest API is missing either adequate documentation, or may…

I just want a decent way of dealing with new nodes/interfaces. We're a FAIRLY large shop, and our department is responsible for the backbone of the network. We don't want to monitor everyone's printer, or desktop ports, we just want to monitor our electronics, and their uplinking ports. What I'm faced with when I look at…

I'm having this issue as well. I'm just learning SW, and I'm taking over an installation that was put in place by someone no longer in this department. The system has been neglected for awhile and now I'm stuck with over 900 found/changed/imported items listed in the discovered node section, and no way to wean those down…

I think you can get what you want if you make it much simpler: alert me if interface is Down Then just use Reset if Trigger Condition is no longer true. The alert will only fire for interfaces that are NOT unpluggable, because unpluggable interfaces can never be Down. Then there will only be a reset for non-unpluggable…

First see if you have any - do "show access-list" and/or "show ip access-list". If they exist, then you have to see if they are applied and to which interface. You can do a "show run interface Fast 0/0" (or similar depending on what interfaces you have)" to see if you have an "access-group" applied. There is another way of…

Sad but true - if traps alerting is important to users we'd have to recommend that they do not upgrade to 10.2 until Solarwinds comes through with the fix. Very disappointing.

Sure. I've blurred out the IP address of switch-B in this screenshot. Thanks, Lewis

If you're having trouble working with the SQL-like statements in APM, it might be simpler to create individual monitors.
