  •  At this point, could care less about variables/macros. I have a service that dies, and I need to restart it when it does. I have .bat files, .vbs files, and .exe files that all work from the SolarWinds Server Desktop to restart the service on the remote machine. Solarwinds alert has been set (in many ways) to try to…
  • Within Map Maker, I did a "save as..." and gave a map a new name. Within the web interface, I directed the Network Map to this newly saved map. No luck.
  • Well... I've spent hours on the phone with a support tech. Hours on the server testing every possible solution I could come up with... and the end result is that I cannot get NPM's alert to remotely restart a service. The Tech openly admitted that he's been working with ourselves and another client for about 4 months…
  • This being the case, any suggestions on how to enter credentials to allow this to work?
  • All my maps are there. In my upgrade procedure, I made a copy of Maps and Reports folders on my desktop... post-upgrade, I put them back where they belonged. They open in Map Maker just fine. By the way Mark, I want to give you another "Thanks". I do appreciate your help.
  • Sorry for the delay in getting back to this... holidays plus work always make things interesting. Hope y'all had a safe past few weeks. As for the problem, it still persists. In test, I have a .bat file on my local machine that starts a service. When run, it works properly. The batch file is very simple... it just says:…
  • NG, I don't think that is the case, reason being... In the Web Interface, when setting up the Network Map, it sees all my maps. The maps are being pulled from the C:\program files\solarwinds\orion\maps folder. As for the COM+ concern Mark, I've checked permission of several random maps. They all have full admin access…
  • In the case the service is determined to be stopped, the actions are to execute a .bat file with the following syntax followed by generating an email. psservice \\computerip -u logonid -p password start "service name" When the .bat file is run manually, the service starts. When the alarm is tested, the test log indicates…
  •  Ok, I'm back in, but I'm at the 'place' where Everything is working except the maps. :( To recap, I've repaired via Config Wizard, Add/Remove Programs, have all hotfixes applied, and have attempted re-linking the maps within the web interface. No dice. /shrug
  • /scratchhead... Now.. I've created a .bat file on the local machine. Tested it and it works. My problem with SolarWinds persists though. My alarm is set to run the .bat file, but it doesn't seem to trigger. The email comes through, the alarm is 'working'. When I run a test on the alarm, it says it's successful, but the…
  • Ug.... did the Add/Remove Repair... Upon login, I now get _____ Orion Website Error An error has occurred with the Orion website. Additional Information System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'D:\InetPub\SolarWinds\web.config' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)…
  • Ah, it does. It says there is an exsisting website, which there is, would you like you use it? I say yes at this step. It asks the settins IP Address (All Unassigned) Port 80 Website Root Directory D:\InetPub\Solarwinds all of which should be accurate It says "A website exists with the same name, IP adress, and TCP port…
  • Awesome! This worked!!! As simple as it is, there's still a lot of learning to be done. :) Many thanks, *edit* ... of course I would have to hit the help link AFTER you give the answer. There's some good info there. I always point folks to help files when helping them with their software/windows issues and whatnot. This…
  • I found that solution on another post just a bit ago and did just that. It appears to have run through normally. I cannot be 100% certain because the Wizard has changed. I no longer get the tabs, just the check boxes (witch I know to be normal) but as the Wizard progresses, I get no options, it just stops services, "does…
  • I'm still pretty much a rookie here, but I'm thinkin' Cirrus is the tool that would be used to change your speeds. Orion just monitors them. You can 'batch' your changes through Cirrus. I'd also use Cirrus to back up those setting in the case something goes wrong in the future.
  •  on a similar note... My situation is that I know the application that launches the process and wish to "launch external application" by way of an advanced alert. When I choose, "launch external application", It only seems to like apps located on the polling machine. I can't navigate through the "My Network Places" to find…
  • Good info folks, You're info helped me signifigantly. The duplicate Nodes were my problem as well. ./thanks for the sql script (the ">1" change worked for me), and ./thanks for the fix. Ed
  • Ah, as informed by Support, I failed to find where IIS needed changed. Once that happened, my logins started working. Now I have the problem of Cannot load Network Map from "C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\Maps\MetroNetMain1024.OrionMap" . I see where others have had this problem, but alas, I cannot find a solution here.…
