Agree totally. We have sites now that have over 20 monitored items in them. It's endless stupid work syncing all the site information for each node. COME ON SOLARWINDS, LET'S DO THIS ONE!!!!!
-
If there's an API script, we could use it. Our existing install has been upgraded so many times, upgrades don't work anymore. So we have to do a fresh install. We're looking at nearly a 1000 nodes, lots of custom properties too. My head this throbbing at the amount of work needed to do this, and our execs are questioning…

How about a Release Notes document so we know what to expect when we install it? There's only an executable in the zip file - I need some docs so I can submit for change control approval.
-
Yep, you're right. The zombie interface is visible under settings>manage nodes. While that's not as clean of a method I'd like (IMHO if you do a List Resources, zombie interfaces should show ... hint hint), I'll take it. Beats deleting and re-adding the device. Don

Any update to when the next release is coming up? Sure could use some SIP support!
-
All I can say is after doing this for over 30 years, it all can be summed up as: "What's the difference between a used car salesman and a (insert IT product here) salesman?" "The used car salesman knows when he's lying" 'nuff said.
-
Nice, but I'm disappointed that all the basic features get passed We've been asking for YEARS to update Orion to support SITE information. I've got 20-30 managed devices at most locations. Having to repeat the address-city-state-phone-lcon info over and over and over again is really old. This is no-brainer stuff you would…
-
Sure.. But if you're adding nodes you can't select site information that was already added. It's a pain.
-
Never mind, I figured it out!
-
Chris, I'm sorry you're frustrated, but come on - "customer should be able to edit any component of CSS stylesheet option" - that's way out of the ballpark for commercial packages in this price range and quality. Sure you can mod some of the code - but you do it at your own risk and expense. I mod mine too, but I know…

Floyd, II got it fixed... here's what I did. Exported the WWW settings Shut Orion down - deleted all the tables that started with "Netflow" Uninstalled Orion and all the plug -ins. Deleted the program files\solarwinds directory Re-installed everything with the latest code (8.5.1) Imported the WWW settings Ran setup…

Does that plixer http://www.systrax.com/ site look like a rip-off of Thwack! or what? "High Powered Network Management" -- hmmm? Where did I here that before???? Don
-
FWIW, our DBA's looked over the database changes on 8.1, and they all came back with smiles and big thumbs up. Solarwinds did a good job on DB optimization. Don
-
Torrie, I don't understand - it was like 2-3 months between 8.1 and 8.5 - that's seems pretty aggressive. The wait has been really short IMHO.
-
Do you have the application monitor module?
-
This is a long thread... we're a tuff crowd sometimes! Let's all remember "back" a year or two ago when we would all complain about the LACK of new revisions for Orion... * We're getting feature enhancement upgrades on regular schedule * We're seeing HOTFIXES - anybody ever remember hotfixes for a Solarwinds product…
-
Hmmm www.elec-trak.com/.../rule.gif
-
They handed out "Networkers World Tour" T-shirts with the schedule on it.
-
Might also check and clean out the username\appdata\temp directory... ours had a TON of crap in it from NCM running.
-
Floyd, All the tables have the ToS column! Don
-
JDS, IMHO Orion at the present is going through a series of upgrades that are for improving the architecture of the product rather than major feature add-ons. In 8., we got a vastly improved database. It looks to me that Solarwinds has been doing a full .NET upgrade of the back-end. SNMP table reads are for all practical…
-
Well, some progress, some failures: 1) The Solarwinds folks consolidated our accounts nice and fast. but, 2) Maintenance continues to confound and frustrate us. When we finally got our co-term quote, our Application Monitor license wasn't on it. Now we're told it's been out of maintenance, and needs purchased again.…

Haley, We tried the policy manager to create the rules, but the sheer number of rules needed to encompass one config was overwhelming, unless of course, we're really missing something. It's almost one policy is needed for every line in the config - right? So on a typical config we're seeing 50+ policy manager rules…

Nothing like shiny software!! I'll call Billy Mays to see if I can use some Kaboom and OxiClean on it.... :) D
-
Well, you got me on that one - we've always run Orion on its' own server (or it's own VM). Don
-
Looks like the problem is still there: 2007-10-31 17:05:21,060 [6] ERROR SolarWinds.Orion.Common.SWEventLogging - NetFlow Receiver Service [SWORION] Started- listening on Port=2055 2007-10-31 17:05:21,248 [Scheduler] INFO SolarWinds.Orion.NetFlow.Collapse - Performing level 1 collapse for source intervals 1321315 to…
-
Mark, Is the inline image Ka-Boom fixed or are you doing Admin magic?
-
Alterego, We had the same problem - the solution was to copy the map file to a new name and use that. Dunno why, but it worked like a charm. Don

The report runs for us, but it's rather useless with all the extraneous and duplicate info. For example, for a Cisco 2821, with VIC2-FXS, a VIC4FXO, an NM-16ESW, and a 32MB DSP, the reports shows all this... and this is just ONE router.. You're seeing 457 entries ... yow!!! mcallen-gw.ifcosystems.com 16 Port…

Okay, but where's the hotfix for Cirrus to update the TFTP code? You've got hotfixes to fix (including the security hole) for all the other products... cannot we have a simple hotfix to patch up Cirrus TFTP? Seeing as we use it top push IOS upgrades out, it kinda makes sense (Yow!). Pretty Please?????? With sugar on…
