Keith, this is cool, but how do you actually use these rules?

Brian, I believe we've had two disk failures in the last year. I couldn't tell you what hot spare was used, but the migration back to the new disks is definitely over. The last failure was at least two months ago. If I change the timeframe, the same disks are at the top. We have 4 hot spares and its only the same two hot…

Unfortunately no updates. I've had to remove that particular alert suppression so that all of my unmanaged devices don't show up in alerts and constantly email me. What issue are you seeing?
-
Are you you using the same community string that your routers & switches are? How about any filters in the Trap Viewer?
-
We currently monitor a little over 1400 interfaces and 3633 total elements. I only monitor the uplinks on access switches. We've never really had a need to monitor all of the individual interfaces. If there is a problem, I'll fire up Engineer's Toolset and watch individual ports or just login to the switch and look for…

Thanks, Mark. My config backups do run weekly and were set to only download configs that had changed. I changed that yesterday and re-downloaded all my configs again. I also adjusted the granularity to Monthly. Now the graph is only shoiwng October and its completely blank.

I'm trying to utilize the new "Find Connected Port for End Host" feature, but am not having very good luck. It originally told me I had to run the Network Sonar scan before I could get any results. I ran the scan for a couple of our subnets, but I'm still not able to find devices when I search by IP or DNS name. Does it…

Were you able to get Messages Queued for Devliery and Messages Reeived/Sent per minute?
-
This just keeps getting better. I ran a new Network Discovery for one of our major server subnets and during the scan, it shows that there were 100+ nodes discovered. However, at the end of the scan, it only found like 7 servers. It is my understanding that this is the quickest way to add Hardare Monitoring to a large…

That seems to have done it. Thanks!

Win2k3 2x 278 GB SAS in Raid 1 2x 278 GB SAS in Raid 10 Using: NPM 9.1 SP5 and APM 2.5 It appears that AvgDiskReadQueueLength, AvgDiskWriteQueueLength are the only two component monitors not returning any statistics. I have other component monitors, within the same template, that are monitoring Disk queues that ARE…

I opened a case for this a few days ago and the tech I spoke with duplicated the issue.

Are you suggesting 8 total spindles then? 2x - Raid 0 - OS/Apps 2x - Raid1 - SQL Logs 4x - Raid 10 (1+0) - SQL Database Were running a simiilar setup, except were using a dedicated box for SQL and another for NPM, NCM, NTA apps. The SQL box only has 6 spindles, configured in Raid 1 & 10. 2 spindles are Raid 1 which contain…

bump... any updates from SolarWinds on SP3?
-
We have roughly 10 users logged in at any given time during the day. We are all using IE and when the webpage poops, it affects everyone at the same time. I'm not sure how that could be browser related.
-
Just recently moved to 2008. Any update on the SP for NCM to fix the task scheduler issue?
-
Use the word, "password" in the password field and it will automatically pull their AD username/password.
-
I've been making various changes in the "Comparison Criteria" section of NCM. Right now I have two different rules enabled... ^! ^! NVRAM What regular expression criteria are you using?
-
Case # 353395. I've uploaded diagnostics. Thats about it.
-
Any chance of an update on this? This seems like a small issue, but it pretty much makes my top 10 IO Response Time graphs useless.
-
It looks like the others are 3.5

Mine doesn't seem to be going too well. I'm getting the following error when it begins to copy files... Uploading OrionNPMWeb Copying files to D:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\ Error: Unable to copy files to install directory. (Error Code: 4) This service pack installer encountered an error updating files.

I was having a similar issue with my weekly config backup not working. The event log indicated that that logon type 4 was failing. We have an NT account that is used to run the jobs. Our GPO was not allowing logons as a batch job. We just had to add the NT account to the approved logons for batch jobs and it seems to be…

What is a customer code?

I'm now battling this same issue on one of our Server 2008 boxes. We migrated from a 2k3 server to 2k8 and thats when the WMI monitors stopped working. I've gone through the SolarWinds document and checked all the permissions and reset WMI with the winmgt commands. I looked in the registry for the key mentioned above, but…

Have you tried re-start the SNMP service on the ESX hosts that you didn't see the VMs in Orion? Have you verified that those VMs also have the proper SNMP credentials? SNMP is definitely running on most of the VMs. I haven't restarted the SNMP service on any of them, but I can look into that. Thanks for the help so far,…

What version of ESX are they running? Is there any differences in version? The two ESX servers that are showing up correctly are running ESX 3.0.1 & 3.5.0. The four that are not are 3i, 3 & two that are running 4. I'm trying to get more information from the guys that built them about differences.

So, whats the deal with losing customized pages? Why are they lost? Is there a document that explains how to back that up?
-
I really think its going to come down to the hardware and disks that the database is running on. If its done correctly, I can't imagine there would be a problem.
-
I would strongly suggest that you run SQL on a seperate, dedicated box, with above average IO capabilities. We have over 4000 elements and retain our daily statistics for 2 years and our database is about 20.8 GB. Like the previous poster said, it totally depends on polling frequencies & data/statistics retention. By the…
