Good thread. Quick question though...I've got NPM and soon NCM running on a Dual duel-core AMD Opteron 2GHz server with 4GB RAM. It's a 64-bit CPU, but running only 32-bit Server 2k3. Do any of you think I would benenfit at all from puting a 64-bit OS on it running the same apps?

You could try re-adding one of those servers or just doing a "list resources".
-
Sounds like some really nice enhancements. Good work.

I upgraded to NPM 11.5 & SAM 6.2 a few weeks ago. The upgrades themselves went find, but I've since found a few major bugs. First bug was that many of my hardware monitor sensors were disasbled. As a result those devices showed up as "Unknown". I worked with support for a week and they eventually referred me to Cisco, HP &…

Are the ports on the Brocade's actually configured with a custom description? We use Brocades and I had to manually update the description within NPM for each interface.
-
I know this is basic, but I have similar issues on new servers. If possible, have you restarted the SNMP service on this device?
-
Can you ask that a different way? I'm not following.

Within NCM, you can add an exclusion to the Comparison Criteria. File > Settings > Configs > Comparison Criteria
-
Try ${CustomPollerStatus.RawStatus} That is what I'm using on several of my UnDP alerts.

I just wanted to chime in and say this would be a great feature to include in the near future.

Have you checked to make sure IIS is configured correctly on the server? IIS running? Services are all running? Can you hit the website from the server? If everything is running, I usually have good luck just re-running the configuration wizard.

Dwayne, just to clarify...you're using two polling engines, which together monitor 500 devices? Is that correct? I'm not a DBA by any means, but I can tell you that our environment benefits greatly from having a dedicated physical SQL box. We have 4 spindles configured in a Raid 10 for the DB. The other two spindles are…

I'd like to import a large number of nodes as well, but I haven't gotten a chance to do it yet. I'm surprised to hear that NCM would allow you to import a duplicate node. I would think there would be an option to NOT import any duplicate nodes or IP addresses.

Yes! I'm having the exact same issue. Engineer's Toolset Bandwidth Gauge works fine from multiple PC's. However, if I try to view real-time statistics from the Orion website, I get that error. I tried using the toolset running on the same server as Orion and it works fine. Anyone else? I'm hesitant to call support since…

I have created a custom property for Volumes called "DiskSpace_1GB". I then enable this property for the volumes I want to be alerted on. Advanced Alert Trigger: Trigger Alert when all the following apply DiskSpace_1GB is equal to Yes Volume Space Avaialble is less than or equal to 1073741824 The alert is set to log an…

Glenn, if I understand your question correctly, you create a new NPM alert. The trigger would be CPU Utilization equal to 100. Then set "Do not trigger this action until condition exists for more than 2 hours" Within the "Alert Escalation" tab there is an option to repeat the alert ever X minutes or hours.

We use email alerts for pretty much everything. Depending on the importance of the device, we alert at either 1 minute, 5 minute or 10 minute downtime intervals. Were you interested in the actual verbiage itself in the alerts? If so, I can post some examples. If you're concerned about email being unavailable, SMS is a good…

Daveh, did you ever get any information on this? I have not used Windows Event Forwarder yet and am concerned about bandwidth as well. Did you find out if there was a way to prune events at the server rather than only at the syslog viewer?

Any updates on this?
-
Thanks. I appreciate the update. I can't tell you how dissapointing this is. The new graphs were a major reason why we updated to 10.3. To be honest, I'm very surprised that SolarWinds isn't making this a higher priority. In addition to the inconsistent data, all of my IE 8 users aren't able to see any data at all in the…

Bump...

Bump. It would be awesome if someone from SolarWinds could respond. These charts were the main reason I updated to 10.3.
-
Can anyone from SolarWinds explain if this is a known bug or if there is an explenation?
-
It's good to know I'm not the only one.

We’re going to need more information than that. What types of devices are these? Did you just recently add them? Did something occur at the same time you started seeing this issue? Have you tried removing & re-adding the volumes and interfaces? Are there other volumes and interfaces on the same devices that don't have this…

First, are you sure that under the Trigger Condition tab, of the Advanced Alert, you selected Type of Property to Monitor: Volume? I just tetsted the same variable in my environment and it works. Are you using any other variables in your alert? Are they working?

I would create a new template and add a single Process Monitor to it. You can use either SNMP or WMI. The easiest way would be to use the "Find Process, Services, and Performance Counters" wizard within APM. You'll need the appropriate credentials to assign to the template/monitor. As far as the alerting, there are several…

If I understand your question correctly, this is really going to depend on how you have your alerts configured. For example, you may alert based on a custom property or keywords in the caption. Others might alert based on the node vendor or community string. For example, if you alert on a custom property, you should be…
