NTA is useless if the FSDB server has crashed.

Orion does not support polling duplicate IP adresses. The only way you can have several nodes in Orion with the same IP is if you poll using an Agent instead.
-
Could you confirm with the documentation of the software version running, whether it generates sFlow counters? F5, even though it creates sFlow isn't on the supported list of vendors for NTA at the moment. However, if it creates sFlow counters then you may be in luck.

That was a quick reply as time was scarce. Here are some more details. Avaya - Red: Has a traditional Call Manager Avaya - Blue (Nortel): Uses CS-1000 as a traditional Call Manager, which uses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UNIStim from IP Phone to CM. CS-1000 is comprised of a bunch of blade chassis, server blades with…

Red is Avaya's own solution. Blue is the older Nortel (now Avaya) solution which was/is SIP based. You can tap into both systems through the manager. There are tons of OID's that contain all the information you need.

Hi, I appreciate you giving this a go. Thank you!

Hi, Yes, get SNMP running and you'll be set. Full Hardware Health details only show if the HP agent is running. This link shows you the simplest way of enabling SNMP on ESXi 5.1 (i guessed that is what you have). Also make sure that the HP management service installed on the ESXi server is running. edit: do you have SAM…

The resulsts would be the exit code, which you can control in PS. That and a success/fail status is what you can get. Alternatively, using powershell monitor you could monitor an output file. To get an message output you should use write-host $message. For SAM to work with this the minimum requirement is to get a statistic…

You will need to log on to the machine (NPM) as local admin, NOT a domain admin. If you can't get local admin access then hold off the changing of IP until you can get it. 1. Change the IP. 2. Run Configuration Wizard found in Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Configuration and Auto Discovery. If it has been run…

Hi Lada, Thanks. All I need now is to include the elements. Interfaces, Volumes, SAM Components, IP SLA Operations etc
-
Hi Peter, Ok, understood. That's the way it is. Thanks for the swift reply.
-
What version are you on? There should be a default Hardware Health alert that you can enable in Advanced Alert Manager/Web based Alert Manager. It alerts by default on warning and critical Hardware Health object status.
-
Hi Mav, Thanks. It must be an issue on the switch then!

Can I please get a free Orion NPM license so that I can make use of the VMAN integration? I don't wish to pay for NPM just so I can get a proper date format displayed in VMAN. I'll provide the Windows license for the new server that Orion NPM gets installed on. Fair trade?

Hi, That is an ASA only setting right? I am looking for the Palo Alto setting.
-
Thanks but I'm not sure I understand how that will help. Could you perhaps elaborate?
-
Hi, In an ever growing network, where switches, routers, firewalls, wlc's are added daily, how can I ensure that NCM will inventory and backup these devices? I am not willing to do this ad-hoc for every device. I am pretty sure that is why the auto import feature was implemented in the good ole days
-
Thanks for this! Got one for Interfaces as well? Filter interfaces displayed based on the Custom Property of the parent Node.
-
Go with a dedicated server. Orion and the SQL databse are latency sensitive so communicating to the cloud would be a really bad idea.
-
Hi, Just some friendly advice. You really shouldn't RAID SSDs. This will more than halve the amount of bytes that can be written to the SSD in its lifetime as you're wearing out the flash memory. You're also maxing bandwidth on internal IO instead of using them on read/write IOPS. I'll give your SSDs max 3 years until they…

Is natting being used and or is there a firewall between the two? Logs won't help much here. You'll need to create a support ticket for this. You could also try doing an snmp walk against the node. Go to :\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\ and launch snmpwalk.exe Fill out the fields and start a scan to see if you can…

Did you happen to get a document/bug ID?

Hi there, Thanks, i appreciate you taking the time to answer but i'm afraid this methid doesn't cut it for us. We have backups that we can restore though i'd rather do a rollback and keep ALL modules installed and configured correctly. Regards
-
hi there, I need a generic alert that will work on all our arrays.
-
Case created, thanks. Seems very odd, though, that a brand new installation found 0 interfaces from 99 nodes where at least 90% of them are snmp enabled. Looking forward to discovering what the issue is.
-
Hi David, Are you sure you got a notification about a Hotfix update? AFAIK only version updates trigger a notification in the Orion console.
-
Thanks! Two brains are always better than one I say
