Try running through the following on your test machine, and see if the same error reproduces. 1. Stop the Automatic Updates service. 2. Rename the %windir%\SoftwareDistribution folder to SoftwareDistribution.OLD 3. Restart the Automatic Updates service. 4. Run wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow and observe the results.

Can you share a screenshot showing how you're viewing the version? The reason I ask is that there's a long standing bug in MMC that can provide a misleading version.
-
I don't believe there's a way to directly create this report in Patch Manager, however, you might be able to export the report results to excel and apply a percentage formula there.
-
This is actually the result of a bug in the original 2.0 installer. The workaround is to delete all keys in registry path (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > EminentWare > Data Grid Service) except “(Default)” and “TargetDir” on the console machine, and rerun the upgrader. Should work fine once those keys are gone.

Can you share the full error so we can get a sense of what specific function is failing?

Hi. Can you post a screenshot of the error you are receiving?

There's actually a couple of ways you can handle this scenario. 1. Create 2 subgroups from the main group these machines are in, and place the machines in these groups based on which version of Firefox release channel you would like to maintain. From here you'll just approve the version against the group accordingly. 2.…

Hi. This error is telling you that your stored credentials have been invalidated due to modifying your service account. Here's a set of steps you will need to follow any time this account or password is changed. SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Changing the account or password used for the Patch Manager service
-
The only real impact of modifying your service account username or password is that you'll have to retype all your stored credentials. I'd start with this first as it has little impact either way. Try resetting the password for the ewdgssvc account you have set, and then see if the service will start. Here's a KB on how to…

Hi Alicia, Try running through these steps and see if it helps. *Note* my screenshots are a little dated but they should still give you an idea of what you're looking for. * Delete the ME and MP keys as shown in the screenshot below * Verify that the account you wish to use has the Log on as a service right. * Within Patch…

The ProgramFiles(x86) common path identifier is not defined in the Microsoft SDP schema. Only ProgramFiles is defined, so this is the one you must use, and then parent-path to get to ..\Program Files (x86). Set commonPath = PROGRAM_FILES Set path = ..\Program Files (x86)\yourApplicationFilePath The reason you want to use…

You can certainly utilize automation servers with SCCM 2007. The actual benefits will depend on the architecture of the deployment itself. A couple of questions I typically ask whenever determining a need for additional auto servers: * Are you running a lot of "on demand" task such as computer inventory, and need them to…

Interesting. The publishing process should error at some point if something has gone wrong. Lets go ahead and reproduce this issue with logging enabled. This should shed some light on what exactly is hanging up. Here's a KB article on how to enable the logging. http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/3616

You are right on track. Java is designed to allow both versions 6 and 7 to live on the same machine concurrently to provide compatibility with certain software. Approving 7u4 against a machine that is running 6u33 would result in the installation of 7u4.

Hi, You should only see xml files in the generated cab files if the package happens to contain xml. One notable example would be packages in the third party catalogs that leverage packageboot. Additionally, the warning message posted is a bit truncated. Can you post in the full message?

The error 2148081670 translates to 80092006 in hex which indicates WSUS was unable to sign the content during the publishing action. That being said, if you are in maintenance feel free to open a case and I'll take a look at this issue with you via GoToMeeting.

There is no way to determine if any given update is going to be needed by any given system except by either allowing the Windows Update Agent to scan the update after publication to the WSUS server, or directly investigating the criteria for the update to be applicable. For each update in the Software Publishing node tree,…

Hi Mike, We have a feature request section for Patch Manager that you can create a post for. Patch Manager Feature Requests Wireshark is tricky one because there's no WinPcap package that can be run silently.

Try running through the following steps on one of the problematic machines and let us know if the update returns a valid result. 1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK. 2.
