  • What specific report are you running that is returning no results?
  • I want to get a list of software that computers on our network are using. Can I use Patch Mgr to do that? Absolutely. Provided you've configured a managed computer inventory against your clients, there's a stock report called "Installed Programs and Features Basic" that pulls all installed software. This report can be…
  • There's a few different situations that can result in the error "has no local extended metadata. Not returning it". As this update is working for some machines I'm leaning towards datastore corruption on the affected machines. Try running through the following steps on one of the problematic machines and let us know if the…
  • Indeed there is a default maximum size. If the package is over 384 MB or so it will get rejected. We do have an unpublished tool you can use to increase the default. http://downloads.solarwinds.com/solarwinds/Release/Components/EminentWare.Utilities.WSUSThirdPartyUpdatesHelper.zip The EXE has built in help, just run the…
  • You can indeed go back and run the installer to just install the web portion. Although I always recommend to run Orion on a separate server, you can get away with co-locating these products. It just comes down to available resources on that box. Here's what it should look like when you re-run the installer.
  • Here's a Solarwinds KB article that has more information regarding your first issue with the MMC snap-in. http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/4448 The second issue does look to be caused by a problem with WSUS itself. Have you tried restarting the server yet? Did you confirm the WID is running?
  • There's no limitations in the evaluation version (aside from access to the full third party catalogs). Provided you have WSUS configured to utilize server side targeting, you'll need to first create a new computer group with the "Add Computer Group" button. This functionality can be located in the "Actions" pane when you…
  • Hi. There doesn't appear to be any changes to this function between 1.85 and 2.0. Here's a screenshot from my environment.
  • Third party updates will synchronize to the downstream server along with the normal updates. If you're looking to leverage some of the client tools (Computer Inventory, Update Management, etc) then you may start by looking into an automation server at that site. Here's some information on this role. Patch Manager…
  • Dropbox appears to be a user based installation, which doesn't make it a good candidate for installation via the Windows Update Agent. Additionally, running the installer with /S seems to not really be totally silent as there's still a prompt that occurs at the end of the installation which requires you to log in.
  • Hi, 1.) Does PM leverage SUP? Yes. In SCCM environments the core feature Patch Manager brings to the table is a tested and ready to publish third party catalog. Patch Manager simply publishes these updates to the SUP, and then they are handled just like any other update in SCCM. 2.) Installing the PM on it's dedicated…
  • This issue has been submitted to development as a bug. Here's the workaround we came up in the meantime. 1) Create rule type "File Creation Date with Registry Value” 2) Fill in info 3) Change rule type to "File Creation Date" 4) Fill in info 5) Click OK (changing back to "File Creation Date with Registry Value” before…
