  • In followup to what I was seeing, I was still seeing a few traps stating devices/interfaces were Unknown, and never reset. After noticing a bunch of event logs in the Event Viewer stating I had the wrong Mib Database installed under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds, I pulled the MIB DB off…
  • I just finished loading up 10.1.1 and applied the HotFix as well. Turns out I had a bad route after a customer requested a topology change last week which I guess was masked before. No wonder the alerts wouldn't reset. DOH. I will continue to monitor to see if I still get the Unknown device traps elsewhere in my network…
  • Not yet bshopp. I like to enjoy weekends for myself but plan to apply the patch Monday. I'm just hoping that this issue I'm having goes away with the update :-)
  • Would these issues noted above also cause false alerts where I see interfaces/nodes going down, which are then followed by more email alerts stating those same devices/nodes are now "unknown"?? It's bad enough that happens but then Orion cycles throug the same alerts again and again and again until I go into Orion node…
  • You bet :-) With the help of Jaime at SW Support, she narrowed things down to it being a problem resolving the DB instance. The Wizard and Server Management Studio would connect up no problem at all when I simply put the server name as 192.x.x.x or Hostname using the sa/password credentials and/or just the Windows Auth…
  • Done. Case #209495 Thanks Mcbridea.
  • I'm having the same issue :-( I'm suspecting it has something to do with the newer Orion Web Based Admin. I never had an issue with the IP Manager before the last Orion Update. (Ver 9.5.1) ToolKit is Ver 10.5, Re-installing it did not help.
  • Bump. My network consists of Satellite Tracking sites around the globe. Everything we do is in the 24Hr format. Really would like to have this feature so that things in my world jive on times and my Satellite Controllers who use this software are not guessing as to when traps come in...if it's local time, or UTC offset for…
  • I have the DB and Orion NPM running on the same server for now so I can continue monitoring and getting traps, but I want to offload the DB on to a different server. Let's call it "dbserv" The issue I am having is trying to connect to the DB when it's running on the new server. I did the backup/restore migration, I can…
  • Version 7 was officially released on Monday. The Solarwinds.net URL is correct but either one should link you to the same page.
  • BK is correct. You must shutdown the native HP snmp in order to use the Net-Snmp agent. Let me know how the Net-Snmp agent works for you. I currently use the Snmp-Research Agent in order to monitor with Orion, however I am not overly impressed with the hacked up Installation provided. For $600US each, I would expect to pop…
  • I just downloaded version 7.0.5 from the site on December 29th. It fixed a few of the problems I was having
  • I'm having the same issue. I did remove my custom Maps/Drawings and went with the built-in "Live" icons and that seemed to help speed things up a bit. I thought I was having the problem because I upgraded to the SL500 from the SL250.
  • I installed the new version yesterday since my V6.4 disk crashed on Monday <ugh>. I was having problems with disappearing elements in the system manager in version 6.4 but I don't have the problem now in V7. So far, so good and I like the Map Maker changes. There are lot's of other changes as well regarding reporting and…
  • I'm using Kiwi Syslog Daemon as well. You can set up filters (registered version) that will email you on specific traps you define. Works well.
  • Set all of your maps to 100% up instead.
  • Thanks for posting this folks. I had the same issue and was happy to see the thread. Especially since it's a little past quitting time on the eve of a Long weekend.
  • I'm just curious...but are you using the correct SNMP community names? Is the SNMP agent on the device configured to allow the IP for your Orion device access to the Mibs? If any SNMP requests cannot access the devices in question...then I would think they would show up as being down. Check to see if you have any access…
  • Without an SNMP Agent that provides access to the Host-Resource-Mibs, all you see is the Interface and some In/Out Traffic stats. You'll need to purchase or compile your own Agent in order to utilize Orions capabilities. I use the SNMP Research CIAgent on my HPUX 10 and 11i servers. It's not cheap at $600 US each, but it…
  • I'm happy to report this issue went away with the Orion V7.0.5 update.
  • HP Mibs would be of great help. I'm spending 600 US on the SNMP Research agents needed in order to monitor the Host-Resource-mibs on my HP Servers. Cutomized MIBs would also be very helpfull.
  • Nope. I just went through the same thing regarding My HP Unix devices. I was able to find a 3rd party agent that allowed me to access the Host-Resource-Mibs instead, but now I can't use the native HP Mibs. Most Vendors are supposed to start implementing the newer Host-Resource-Mibs... but it's going to be a slow process…
  • Great idea Clerum. You have my vote.
  • This is a terrific idea and it would certainly make things a lot easier for us.
  • I was seeing this error constantly when using Orion 6.4 on a Windows 2000 server. Since upgrading to ver 7, still on a W2K server, I've only run into it once. Some of the suggestions Solarwinds had for me at the time was to run the maintenance on the Database. I found that did not work and thus I would stop and restart the…
  • I use Kiwi as well. It runs concurrent with Orion on the same server.
  • Excellent Idea. Thanks Don
  • I've got both but we found NNM to time consuming and comlicated to use compared to what Orion gives us out of the box. NNM is pretty expensive for Up/Down status isn't it? We decided to move away from NNM primarily because of the cost to keep maintenance on it.
  • Thanks NG. Although the logs don't show which account was logged into, they do indicate the source IP which is usefull in itself.
  • I'd like to see this as well. I was hoping the Windows 2000 Server would track logins to the Orion Website, but it doesn't.
