I haven't been in this particular situation but I've written and used plenty of script sets. Apply one script to everything then launch the next script. I don't see a difficulty in changing the mask, losing the connection as the port resets, then running a second script to write the change to memory. You didn't mention…

Sorry Jay, but I didn't. Once we got the Aruba controller sending traffic to NPM, there was just too much traffic to handle. And unfortunately, the data wasn't particulary valuable. Lots of reports of "rogue" wireless access points and other things I wasn't interested in but I didn't get any user experience info so I…

That would be very helpful. Actually, I wonder why Cirrus can't export to a spreadsheet without having office installed? I have the Professional version of the toolset on my Orion server and it can export to a spreadsheet and that server doesn't have Office. Odd.........

Hey Chris, was there ever a fix found for this? I'm having exactly the same problem with w3wp.exe running amok. Thanks! Dan Goodale

Actually, they do pull the vlan info. One selection in the inventory details drop down menu is VLANs. Now if they would just put all that wonderful info in a report.

Hey Christine, thanks for the reply. The easiest way to solve MY problem would be to fix the "Export to Comma Delimited File" or "Export to Text File" functions. As I mentioned in my post, when exporting the results of a Policy or a Report, I get commas with spaces in between them if I use Comma Delimited and I get…

Thanks, Mark. I found it. One of my co-workers must have customized the toolbars. The Alignment tools were all disabled. The price you pay for letting other people play with your toys, I guess. :-)

Not really. Too much work adding it back into the maps & the alerts, not to mention losing all the historic data on the bandwidth utilization, etc. Kinda' like replacing your garage every time you get a new car, ya' know?

Actually, I'm not writing them myself directly. I'm using the tool in NCM that comes up in the Orion Network Configuration Manager App. on the server. On the Quick Start tab in the NCM application I click on "Execute Command Scripts". Then I click the down arrow on the "Select Nodes Directly" button. I select "Specify a…

pacetti, I agree, it SHOULD have been helpful, but the only thing mentioned in the guide I have are the 2 settings I already talked about, how many minutes of uncompressed data to keep and how long to keep compressed data. There is nothing in the guide I have about how often to summarize data. The Fluke Netflow Tracker…

I'm not sure what you mean by replaced. I noticed the issue because a router that had IP SLA tests configured (by IP SLAM) experienced a power failure and when it came back up it started failing the IP SLA tests. The only way I got it to quit failing the tests was to delete the tests in IP SLAM and recreate them. It…

I just installed it last week so I don't have much data to go on yet. What I DID notice though is that you have to be REALLY careful when you use the config snippets. If you have a 2 line snippet you want to add to your config and you have Cirrus set to use tftp to upload, after you upload the snippet you only have two…

Thanks, Andy. :-) One question, I was reading another thread about issues another user was having adding ESX servers. The thread talked about looking at "Views by Device Type" and making sure the Web View for those devices is set to ESX Server Details instead of Node Details. What worries me is, I don't have an Object Type…

My Director asked me today to find a way to send alerts when our Qos queues overflowed. Any ideas when CBQOS alerting will be added? Dan Goodale- Network Engineer II, Triwest Healthcare

yeah....if you rely on Windows for correct default routing, you're rolling the dice. I've seen it guess wrong. Phil's suggestion about putting the cards on the same subnet & using a crossover cable is great, as long as you use a subnet unique to that connection. The clincher would be accessing the SQL server by IP so…

I'm having the same problem but the support engineers can't figure it out. Did you have any luck getting this resolved? Dan Goodale, Network Engineer, Triwest Healthcare

I believe, if you run the inventory as a job you should get a log that tells you what happened. Likewise, if select a device, right click and choose "Inventory Selected Nodes", I get an error message if the inventory fails that gives me at least a clue as to what happened (like "Does not respond to SNMP queries using…

Interesting, the day I added bandwidth macros to my headquarters map labels cut-and-paste wasn't working. I guess Orion just wanted me to do it the hard way that day!
-
I think it's a "feature". I can't even cut and paste text from one label to another.
-
Netflow....I assume you are talking about the Crannog products? I use Netflow Monitor and Netflow Tracker. Netflow Monitor performs reasonably well on a server I have running other apps. Netflow Tracker on the other hand DOES require a lot of processing power. There are some freeware Unix apps that do the same thing but,…

Yup....exactly! I opened a ticket and was sent an example that resolved my confusion. As Ranger indicated, you create your AND/OR/NAND/NOR condition first and THEN you nest the rest of the conditional groups under it. Works like a charm!
-
Yeah, I'm getting so exotic with my attempts that I'm getting warnings and the alerts can't be saved. As you said, a few examples with multiple conditon groups would be WONDERFUL !!!

Something similar happened to me quite a while back while pushing configuration changes with a terminal emulator. The fix for me was choosing a different emulation (vt52 in this case). If your sending and receiving emulations aren't the same, you could be sending something to your switch that it is interpreting as 2 line…

To adjust polling times on an individual basis, open Orion System manager. In the left pane, expand the tree for the device you want to adjust. Highlight the desired interface and click on Interface Details. There are slider bars for Status polling and Statistics collection. Dan Goodale - Network Engineer, Triwest…

Maybe a wizard to walk you through a few options during the intial sync setup? Since my company has mostly Cisco gear but a few other pieces I monitor but don't want in Cirrus, I'd prefer a checkbox so I can tell Cirrus to only import Cisco devices. Heck, you could use an advanced filter like the alert or reporting filters…

huh...I've never experienced what you're describing but, when weird stuff happens, a reboot usually solves the issue. If you're positive you created the action object and put the trigger and reset messages in the approppriate fields, it sounds like reboot time!
-
Yeah, you should be able to see received traps in the viewer. The email function doesn't work though so don't get excited when you don't receive email alerts. Well...at least it doesn't work on the version I downloaded a couple of months ago. Maybe they fixed it?

If you have a router/firewall connected to your cable modem, the router will have a default gateway on it. I'd ping that.

To me it looks like you guys are a little behind with NCM device recognition. The only devices we have that NPM doesn't seem to know about are our new 12 port 3560 switches. 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1015 Cisco 3560-12PC-S NPM knows about our 2911 & 3945 routers and our 3560v2 switches but NCM doesn't. Dan Goodale - Network Engineer…

When I'm replacing a switch, it's really nice to have CiscoWorks tell me what's connected to every port. It would be great if Cirrus could do that as well.
