  • I am so surprised as to why this even needs to be requested. surely this should be a given! iframes is a nice workaround thanks ">hcy01uk
  • RichT, I am surprised as you to be honest. You are the first person who I have spoken with who actually shares my query/concern. I honestly thought I was going a little crazy to be ssemingly the only person chasing these answers. To answer you question though, no i never got an exact answer either and I tried asking here…
  • Hi folks, can someone please explain to me what the 'throttle ratio unit of time is'? Is it a constant or a variable? Also some detail around the weight of different polling types would very be useful. For example, what weight is interface status monitoring or what weight is interface statistic monitoring? It mentions…
  • I Whole-heartedly agree. We have been looking for this type of functionality for a very long time now. The abiility to tie in Traps and Syslog with Advanced alerts AND/OR the ability to use the filter engines within the trap and syslog viewer to filter and parse the messages and forward those desired messages to the NPM…
  • Hi TimF, what exactly is the behaviour are you seeing. If it's not being able to view report in web browser what solved the problem for us was to start the polling service in 'services' Don't worry this will not start node monitoring if you have node monitoring disabled There was more to this issue for us than just…
  • I gave up on Lotus Notes a good while back. For the past few months I have been sending reports to a mail server and client installed on my desktop PC. Admittedly it doesn't sound as slick as tearl42's solution but it is very easy to setup and it meets my needs for the time being plus it's completely free. I got the…
  • hi Peter Yeah I agree, We're still setting it up after finding a few (recognised) bugs already. I actually had AD login to the application yesterday morning after setting it up on Friday but when I went into add another user the *** fell out of something, now I can only login to the app using the built in…
  • Hi has there been any further news on this topic? I am now having the same issue as mentioned above. Regards Ciaran
  • Great Advice thanks to both Chris's on this one :- ) Guess I'll have to learn to have more patience in the future. It's a little bit of a pain as I have over 300 devices that still need it but like you said I can make use of a scheduled job. thanks lads

  • I didn't realise the polling service was linked to the policy cache. I had the polling service disabled as it was using excess amounts of CPU utilisation. when I switched it on the CPU went straight to 100% and just sits between 95% & 100%. Is there a job that might be running in the background that might be causing this?…
  • Hi Andy, there is a report created by Brian Duvall which I think might be just what you are looking for. you can check it out here The report filters 95th percentile interface traffic for business hours monday to friday, you can adjust the range of business hours also; for example I'm running this 9-4 Monday to Friday.…
  • For the moment that’s it. Most users will be familiar with this info but I hope that this doc will provide usefulness to some. Poller tuning is a bit of a black art, for some environments it’s straight forward as for others it requires significant effort to get right. With my environment being the latter I can understand…
  • Thanks to everyone so far who has contributed to this post I'm delighted to see some interest in this topic. thanks again
  • I completely agree. I am myself surprised that this feature has had to be requested I thought it would have been included from the word go. Whether it gets included in a later release any time soon remians to be seen I guess. If you manage to come up with any additional customisations or solutions to this dilemma please do…
  • Yeah that's exactly it. There's no need to revamp the entire login process. If there was an option to enable username and password verification at login that would suffice. Firefox does exhibit the behaviour we prefer at login but not everyone uses it and even if they did the fact still remains that access through IE is a…
  • I had stopped chasing this a while ago as it seemed that there was no solution back then and unforunately I don't think anything has changed. Sorry.
  • Good to know that about the custom report's mouse roll over feature via NodeID thanks. That boxes that one off nicely, infact I may just replace the 'node with problems' resource throughout our environment altogether as the custom report feature is far more flexible. With the events, no there isn't anyone watching every…
  • if you've got the time planned to started adding your devices and start to configure cirrus how you want it then don't put it off, you might not get the time back, if your work place is anything like mine you'll know what I mean! I would agree as we only started setting up Cirrus this week. We had the time scheduled so it…
  • Would love to see this feature in Orion, specially if it was done properly. eg ability to select multiple status icon/colours for UnDP's that have more at 2 possible states. Anyway for now, does anyone know if there is a way to set up a UnDP in the web console so that the status is represented by one of those green LED…
  • Hi Patriot, I was under the impression that this was a cyclical counter for the number of SNMP polls completed so far in a polling cycle. Where a healthy cycle would start some where near the bottom and work it's way through the elements until it reached the end of the list then restarts again. Having said that the last…
  •  Troubleshooting gaps in graphs Ok so what if you’ve tried tuning the engines but there are still gaps in your graphs grrrr!!!? Fear not the following sections provide some tips that can be used when troubleshooting gaps in graphs. Diagnostics - Polling Status After you have confirmed that your current polling requirements…
  • It's ok I found the solution for this thanks
  • This is gonna be a long one folks, sorry. So currently our banner is set up on most of our devices. The devices that do have it configured correctly display the banner in the following format. (The banner on these devices was rolled out using Kiwi Catools a very long time ago, not by me) Warning Message Use of this system…

  • Thats ok Yann, I didn't think there was any errors in that file, that's why I thought it might have been some setting I had changed while setting up NCM. Anyway thanks for your efforts I will open a ticket today on this issue. Cheers
  • Hi folks, my case has gone in a different direction for now to deal with a more pressing issue, so I managed to do some digging and I have for the first time been able to access one of these WAE boxes to look around and see what the command line tells me what it thinks the memory utilisation is. Going by the output below…
  • Thanks very much, that's great news. We will look forward to that
  • Polls per Second tuningIn the last section we worked out how the number of elements and the polling intervals are related, we also covered that the limits of the poller can be variable and differ from one environment to another. One tool that helps us to compensate and customise performance for some of the environmental…
