We were actually going through a similar exercise earlier in the week and after contacting APC they indicated that it is not possible to pull per outlet power consumption information. There is an OID for amps per outlet but it only returns 0. It is possible to get some general PDU power information. If you are getting per…

Dan, It seems like the more time I spend with this topic the more questions I have. Thanks for entertaining my obsessive nature on this topic. A couple more questions if you will: 1. If statistics summarization does not occur will the report writer on the fly roll-up hourly into daily so that a report can be generated? 2.…

I looked around both 8.5 and 9.0 and it appears that both have an event type of 40 for unmanage and 41 for manage. You can modify any of the Event reports to use that as your criteria versus what the canned report has. If you want to free style this you would use the events and eventstype tables. Let me know if that helps.

Auto updating a node label would be nice also. We recently went through a device rename and all the labels for the nodes in the map are incorrect.

I assumed that "operational status of each connected phone" would allow me to see some phone information vs. the number of phones connected. Am I missing something or over thinking the statement? oriondemo.solarwinds.com/.../CallManager.aspx Thanks!

Mark, Thanks for pointing this out. It also fixes the problem I was having where I was unable to organize the toolbars as whenever I tried to move them around the placement was random.

You can probably guess what my next question will be. Would that be a major version release or the next 8.5.x release and are there any dates around this release? Thanks again!

Kevin, I think you hit it right on the head with the word "initially". As we move to NPM exclusively there is going to be a large amount of upfront work which we can not avoid. I am also pretty much sold on an external distribution list. Seems like the easiest way to deal with the complexity. Thanks!

David, I was swinging for the fences on this one. I would like to say here are the 15 custom pollers I have for a specific device, say a cisco 3750. With all the pollers grouped, and called Cisco 3750 Pollers, be able to assign that group to one or more nodes. When you have 75 Cisco 3750's and 15 probes for that class of…

Dan, Good Answers! In regards to number four I have figured this out in that I was trying to compare it to some other monitoring tools we use. So the question was a little confusing due to my confusion. So I took some time today to down a server and see what the data looked like and that has spurred a couple more…

George, You have to stick with me on this one, the answer is a little long and drawn out. As you said in your post you need to suppress a previous alert after a given period. Problem is NPM does not allow alerts to be aware of each other. In order to get around this you have to add a way for one alert to check the status…

Ralph, Give this a look "> Once you really start digging into how availability is computed you will see the weakness of the system. I hope that Dan responds to my post at some point as I think this is a pretty big shortcoming. Best Of Luck - Cam
